00:00How are you doing? Yes, good, good. You ready to talk AI? All right, all right. First up, I have the one and only Brittany Adams. She is the founder and CEO of Focus and Frame Eyewear out of Dallas, Texas. Brittany, come on up and welcome to the stage. Give her a round of applause.
00:18All right, all right. Brittany, welcome, welcome, welcome. All right. And then we also have joining us Sammy Biven. Sammy is the founder and CEO of Digital Marketing Mavens and Associates also out of Dallas, Texas. So welcome her to the stage. All right. Thank you, ladies. Let's have a seat and start this conversation on AI. Are you ready? Yes. Yes. All right. So Brittany, in 30 seconds or less, tell us about your business and one AI tool.
00:48That's become absolutely essential in everything that you do in your business. Awesome. So again, my name is Brittany Adams. I'm the founder and CEO of Focus and Frame Eyewear. And we sell stylish, prescription, and non-prescription glasses online and at vendor events like the one we are here today.
01:05Okay. The AI tool that I cannot live without would have to be virtual try-on because in selling glasses on the online space, we've got to be able to have it to compete with kind of some of the bigger players. And it helps you understand what looks good on your face.
01:22I love that. Virtual try-on. Has anyone here used a virtual try-on?
01:26Yeah, look at that. Okay. All right. All right. Sammy, same for you. 30 seconds or less.
01:30Tell us about your business and one AI tool that's really impacting your business.
01:35Yes. So my name is Sammy Bivins. I'm the founder and CEO of Digital Marketing Maven and Associates, where we specialize in helping our clients get in front of their ideal target audience.
01:44We do this through web design, email marketing, social media management, all the things that help busy business owners take the marketing off their plate and we handle it.
01:54So I would say the one tool that I cannot live without is the OG ChatGPT. I use it every day, all day. I use it this morning. Okay.
02:02All right. All right. How many of you are also using ChatGPT? Anybody? ChatGPT? Yep. All right. Give it up for ChatGPT. Thank you.
02:09Let's come back to you, Brittany, for this question. So before AI, what was the most time-consuming task that you did in your business?
02:17And how has AI changed that for you? The most time-consuming is transcribing prescriptions.
02:25So once we get the prescription in, we have to upload it to our laboratory.
02:29So entering in each number for the prescription, it has to be very accurate.
02:33So now we have the ability with AI that it automatically extracts it and puts it in the necessary field.
02:39And then we're able to kind of QA it and just make sure it's right. And it makes us so much faster.
02:44And are you using a specific tool for transcription or is it a custom tool that you're using?
02:50It's a custom app that we're using on the Shopify platform.
02:53Okay. On the Shopify platform. I love it. I love it. I love it.
02:56So same to you, Sammy, before AI, the most time-consuming task. And how has AI changed that for you?
03:03Well, for me, we submit a lot of RIPs or apply to RIPs.
03:08And so you guys know, if you submit it for a government contract or a corporate contract, those can be 50, 60 pages.
03:15So with AI now, I can spit them out in like maybe an hour where it used to take me hours or days to spit them out.
03:22So now we can submit for more business to continue to scale and grow.
03:26Right. And an RFP, a request for proposal.
03:28A request for proposal.
03:30And is that coming from federal, state, county, anyone? Does it matter?
03:33Yeah. So for us, we apply for a lot of municipalities.
03:37Okay.
03:37The state as well. And even some corporate contracts and opportunities that come up.
03:41Okay. And are you using a specific tool or a custom tool?
03:46I actually train my own GPT.
03:48I love it.
03:49In order to like already have a lot of the intro.
03:52I love it.
03:52A lot of that really changes.
03:53Yep.
03:54And so then I can just put in the specific things that I want to put in that proposal.
03:57Amazing tip.
03:58And then ChatGPT just fits it out.
04:00Right. That's an amazing tip using your own GPT to do that.
04:03So you can go to chatgpt.com forward slash GPTs and train your own chatbot to do what she's saying.
04:11I'd also add to that that Claude is really good at responding to requests for proposals.
04:16So great tips, ladies.
04:17So it's Shopify, the tool for transcription, and then custom GPTs.
04:23So great tools there.
04:25All right. Let's start off with you for this one, Sammy.
04:27So for someone in your industry who has never, ever, never used AI before,
04:33what would you tell them to try like first thing Monday morning when they get back home?
04:37Yes.
04:38Well, I would say start small, start simple.
04:40Don't try to go do the big things at first because it takes some time to train your GPTs
04:45to sound like you and to be on brand.
04:48So I would say start with writing a caption on social media.
04:51You know, when we're trying to create content or even generating content ideas for your brand
04:56or your business.
04:57And then type in what you would normally say in the caption, telling to make it SEO friendly
05:02and to convert for your target audience and just start there.
05:05That is amazing.
05:06Very good tip.
05:07Very good tip.
05:08Now to you.
05:08So I would say kind of on the same, on the same side, I would use Gemini.
05:14So I downloaded the Gemini app and have a conversation.
05:17You're having a conversation with Gemini and you're telling, kind of brain dumping what's
05:22on your head.
05:23Sometimes you have those things you don't necessarily know how to articulate.
05:26And it does a really good job of adding the right word to what your thoughts are.
05:31Right.
05:31And so then it'll start kind of laying out an outline of what you're trying to do.
05:35And so I think just have a conversation with Gemini or another GPT or another AI device and
05:41you'll be good.
05:42Right.
05:42So both of the ladies are saying, you know, start simple, start small, and then pay attention
05:47to training whatever AI model you're using.
05:50Whether the AI model is Gemini or ChatGPTs and GPTs, start small, start using them, and
05:56then train them.
05:57So very good.
05:59Very, very good tips.
06:00All right.
06:01So let's talk about, and we'll start with you for this, Brittany.
06:04What's one way that you're using AI that your competitors might not be?
06:09So I'm really excited about this question because this is something very new.
06:13So we just signed with an AI consulting company.
06:17So what we're doing is building personal shoppers.
06:19So we're collecting, when our customers come over, we're using like quizzes and emails
06:26to be able to get the things that's important to them.
06:29How do you use your glasses?
06:30What kind of styles you like?
06:33And so we're using that information to build custom shoppers, personal shoppers, to be able
06:38to walk our customers through that process and make a more immersive experience for them
06:43online.
06:45And I think that's something you have to have as an e-commerce company.
06:48You have to find out, how do you build experience?
06:51And I think technology does that really well.
06:54And so our competition doesn't have that yet.
06:57So I'm excited to walking that out with our new customers.
07:01Right.
07:01One of the things that we were talking about backstage, Brittany and myself, is that now
07:06is the perfect time.
07:07Like it's a great time in the beginning stages to definitely do something like she's doing
07:12to get ahead of your competition.
07:15So I love that.
07:16I love that.
07:16Good job.
07:17Good job.
07:17All right.
07:18Sammy, the same question for you.
07:20What's one way that you're using artificial intelligence that your competitors probably aren't
07:25using yet?
07:25Well, I think it's because we've integrated AI in every step of the process.
07:30I believe that money loves speed, right?
07:32You want your deliverables as quick as possible.
07:34When you submit a lead form to me, you want to hear back from me as quick as possible.
07:38So every part of our process has AI from responding to inquiry forms to get people scheduled and
07:44on the calendar to even delivering data.
07:48So when we do our analytics and reporting for our clients, we're using AI to help us analyze
07:53the data a lot faster.
07:55Number one, to report to our clients, but also so that we can find different areas where we
08:00may need to pivot so that we can convert more and to grow their business.
08:04Well, let's continue on this.
08:06How is your team using AI?
08:08Are you training your team as well to do these processes that you're talking about?
08:12Yes.
08:12So I create SOPs.
08:14Every time I figure out how to do something, I have it create an SOP for you.
08:19So explain what an SOP is.
08:22Yes.
08:22An SOP is a standard operating procedure.
08:25And so it's just a step-by-step of how you do something.
08:28And so when you create things for your team and even for your clients sometimes, it just
08:33helps everything to flow a lot smoother and for the process to begin.
08:37Now, have you used any AI tools to create your SOPs for you or for the team?
08:42Yes, absolutely.
08:43I love Loom.
08:44It's a video app, if you will.
08:47And I will record instructions to my team or to my clients.
08:52My onboarding process has a lot of Loom videos in it.
08:55And then I will take the transcript from the Loom, put it in ChatGPT, and then have it
09:00to create documents for me.
09:02Loom does it as well, but my ChatGPT knows me better.
09:05Right.
09:05It knows you better.
09:06And I also use Tango.
09:08So if you use the Tango app, you can open it up in your computer screen and do like
09:12click for each step of a process.
09:14And it will automatically create the step-by-step and the instructions for you.
09:19And all you have to do is send the link out after it's done.
09:21So let's make sure everybody got those two resources.
09:23Loom.com.
09:24L-O-O-M.com.
09:27The best screen recording software out there.
09:29Has AI components in it as well.
09:31So she takes that Loom.
09:33It gives you the transcript.
09:34Put that in ChatGPT.
09:36And say, make this process into a standard operating procedure for my team.
09:40Hold it.
09:40And then the next one you were talking about is, what's that called?
09:44Tango.
09:44Tango.
09:45So Tango, as she was going on her screen, it's taking screenshots of what she's doing
09:50and saying, click here, click here.
09:52So that's a visual way of creating an SOP.
09:55So I assume combining these two is golden for your team.
09:58Absolutely.
09:58Because now when I onboard new clients, all the instructions are already there.
10:03I can create templates for them and just give it to them.
10:05And then for the team, it helps them to adopt things a lot quicker so that we don't
10:10have to spend a lot of time doing one-on-one training.
10:12It eliminates a lot of meetings.
10:14Right.
10:14And are you using that for any of your client onboarding?
10:17So new clients coming in, showing them different things and using AI tools for
10:22your digital marketing agency?
10:23Yes, absolutely.
10:24I train them on how to use certain things.
10:27And so we can all be able to stay on page, right, and build a great relationship,
10:31working relationship, but even for the onboarding as well so that they know how
10:34to use their website or whatever we've built for them on their own.
10:37Right.
10:38And they don't have to keep calling you.
10:39Do they just refer back to the documents you made?
10:41That part.
10:42That part.
10:43That part.
10:44That part.
10:45So tell us how your team is using AI.
10:48So they're using these tools as well.
10:50Are they using it in any administrative tasks?
10:53Oh, yeah.
10:54When she said chat GPT.
10:56Put the mic up a little more.
10:57I'm sorry.
10:57When she says, Sammy said chat GPT and making your own GPTs, like chef's kiss.
11:03Like, do that.
11:05I don't even ask my chat GPT any questions that doesn't regard to me or to the business
11:12because it starts to understand your tone.
11:14It starts to understand what your business is like.
11:17And so I use a lot of that with our team to be able to do administrative things.
11:22To say, okay, like standard operating procedures and what's working for us and what's not.
11:27When we're having our meetings with our laboratory on kind of what our next steps are and kind
11:32of making our procurement a little bit faster and better.
11:35So, yes, everybody uses it.
11:38It's a friend.
11:39And you can train all of these tools.
11:41Training is very important.
11:43You can even, I've used Google LM Notebook.
11:48You can even use that when I put my website information in there.
11:53It's created like a podcast of things about what's going on in my website.
11:58And I'm not necessarily using the podcast feature, but it's like what does it tell me that other people are seeing
12:04when they're going to my site?
12:05Right.
12:05And I extract that information and say, these are the things we need to change, fix.
12:10Is this the point I'm looking to convey?
12:12And so these are all the elements.
12:15It really levels the playing field on how we can connect with our audiences.
12:18Levels the playing field is good.
12:20Good.
12:20So both of the ladies are talking a lot about ChatGPT and how it remembers the things that you have.
12:26So if you go into your settings in ChatGPT, go to settings, personalization, and make sure your memory is on.
12:34Because when your memory is on, you can recall past conversations, and you can also, it also starts to learn from you.
12:42So check that memory setting.
12:44And then also under customize ChatGPT, you can put your silent tone.
12:50So you can tell ChatGPT, it asks you, what is your name?
12:54What do you do?
12:55How would you like ChatGPT to respond?
12:57And put your silent tone right there, and every time you open up a new chat, it will talk in that silent tone.
13:04So they've been talking a lot about this, and this is how you can do it.
13:07So good.
13:07Can I add something to that?
13:08Yeah, please.
13:09So sometimes, depending on who I'm writing the email to or what my purpose is, I may tell it, make me sound like Issa Rae.
13:17Right.
13:17Or I may say, make me sound like Oprah, or make me sound like Michelle Obama.
13:21So it helps to elevate the tone of your communication.
13:23That's so good.
13:24And one other thing is, I create different GPTs for each of my clients as well.
13:28Yes, yes.
13:29So that it remembers everything about them separately from my own business as I'm building content and building their websites and things as well.
13:36Have you used the knowledge base of the GPTs where you can upload documents as well to tips?
13:40Absolutely.
13:41And I talk to it, too.
13:42Right.
13:42We and ChatGPT have conversations because now I realize if I just use my voice to text, I can work even faster because I'm not having to type it all out.
13:51Right.
13:51So are you using that dictate button on ChatGPT right there?
13:54So inside of the prompt, there's this little microphone, and it's a dictate button.
13:59So click on that to talk to ChatGPT on your computer.
14:02It's easy to do on your phone as well.
14:04Great tips, ladies.
14:05Like, great tips here.
14:06All right.
14:07Getting everybody up to speed so quickly, so quickly.
14:10So let's take another question.
14:12If you could use only one AI for one thing in your business going forward, so you had to pick the most important thing.
14:19I know this is hard, but you had to pick the most important thing.
14:22What would it be and why?
14:24Sam, you want to go first?
14:25Well, I will say I'm trying to figure out how to really streamline the sales process.
14:30So there's, you know, we got the front end part, but then there's the back and forth, following up and things like that.
14:37So figuring out how to use ChatBots or an agent to help to follow up on leads because we don't always have time to call or text repeatedly, but it does sometimes take, it takes multiple touch points to close a deal.
14:49So I'm just trying to figure out how to help even further streamline the sales process because we've got to keep those projects coming in.
14:56That's right.
14:57That's right.
14:57I think I would have to go back to what we said earlier, ChatBPT, because when you're a business owner, small business owner, you're doing so many things.
15:07And so I'll say, like, teach me how to do this.
15:10I want to be a marketing expert to convey X idea.
15:13And so because I can use it as a knowledge-based kind of platform, then I'm able to put it in so many different aspects.
15:22As a knowledge-based platform, I can be able to use it to help my marketing, to help my sales, to help my AI encryption of our prescriptions.
15:31So I would say that it teaches me so many things.
15:34I need it every day.
15:36Yes, yes.
15:36So let's talk about your top five tool stack when it comes to AI.
15:41So you're like the Shopify transcription tool, ChatGPT.
15:45Give us your top five tool stack.
15:47So, yeah, ChatGPT, Shopify transcription tool, virtual try-on.
15:54I would say my email chat box.
15:59So it, again, will get the information from your site to be able to talk to customers.
16:05And lastly, there are this thing called Capixi.
16:10It's from a company out in Dallas where they have AI in it.
16:15It helps me with all my back-end business modeling.
16:18Okay, I love it.
16:19I love it.
16:19And the Shopify app that you were talking about, is that something that anybody can access it as a Shopify store?
16:26Yes, but it's specific to me.
16:28So it's a prescription glasses tool.
16:32But I would definitely say use Shopify.
16:34There's a lot of apps that are already built with a lot of AI pieces to it that you can access.
16:40And you can just update and tweak and customize and not have to build anything from scratch.
16:45Good, good, good.
16:46And my vibe, I would say the Go, ChatGPT, right?
16:50We're talking about that.
16:50Loom, Tango.
16:52So I use Zapier, Davier a lot where it helps to connect different systems together.
16:58And now they have a lot of AI integrated to where I don't have to figure out how to make them speak to one another.
17:03And then also, oh, let's just look in my mind.
17:09No, I mentioned Tango, Loom, ChatGPT, Zapier.
17:14I would say probably chatbots.
17:16You've talked a lot about GPTs, maybe.
17:18I hope there was one more that I read.
17:20Oh, Opus Clips.
17:21I use Opus Clips to explain what that is, please.
17:26Yes, Opus Clips, you can take a full-length video.
17:28Like, we can take this whole interview, dump it into Opus Clips,
17:32and then it will come up with, like, maybe 10 or 15 video clips.
17:35It will add captions and subtitles for you.
17:38You can put your brand colors on it.
17:40So it just helps you to not have to spend so much time trying to edit your videos.
17:44So it helps you move back.
17:46I love it.
17:47Did everybody get all those tools?
17:48Those were golden tools.
17:49The last tool that you mentioned, what was that?
17:53The last tool that I mentioned.
17:55Kapixai.
17:57Kapixai.
17:57K-P-X-A-I.
18:00Yeah, Kapixai.
18:01It's a business.
18:02It helps you get your business modeling together.
18:05You can put, like, KPIs, which are, like, measurements on how do you measure your business success.
18:11Kapixai.
18:12K-P-X-A-I.
18:15Kapixai.
18:15All right.
18:16So we're wrapping it up in 30 seconds.
18:18Give us kind of your final thoughts for them, for everybody listening here, on, like, really integrating and stepping into AI.
18:25Do you want to go first?
18:26I would say AI is your friend.
18:28Do not be scared of it.
18:30Do not think that it's going to take all of our jobs.
18:33It is not.
18:34It's going to be such a benefit for the people who know how to use it.
18:38It will be a net jobs creator.
18:40It actually helps level the playing field for black and brown people individually because we have access to so many things that have been gatecast.
18:50And so you've just got to get into it and then learn it, and you'll do amazing things.
18:56I love it.
18:57I love it.
18:57I was going to piggyback off of what Brittany said because it's not going to replace you.
19:02It's going to help you to elevate.
19:04And the people who learned how to use it now are the folks that are going to be ahead in the future.
19:09If you think about companies that did pivot and embrace technology, you think about Blockbuster and then Netflix, right?
19:15So right now is the time to learn it.
19:17It's changing every day.
19:19It's going to continue to progress.
19:20So if you're not already using it, you're behind, but you're not too late to start today.
19:25That's right.
19:26And to learn it and just ask it, what do I need to know for my type of business?
19:30And then it will help you to even figure out what your next step should be.
19:33I love it.
19:34And speaking about learning it, we're doing a workshop tomorrow at 12 noon in, I believe it's this room back here.
19:41So tomorrow at 12 noon, we're leading a workshop.
19:44Bring your laptop to your phone, and we'll get into really how you can use AI.
19:49So that is it for this panel.
19:50We're at time.
19:51But ladies, if you would stand up so we can give you a round of applause.
19:55Thank you so much.
19:56Thank you so much.
19:57And thanks, everybody, for coming.
19:58We'll see you tomorrow at the workshop.
20:00All right?
20:14We'll see you tomorrow at the workshop.
20:27Bye.
