00:17I have this new movie coming out on Amazon called The Pickup.
00:21It is a heist movie starring Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson, and myself.
00:26Guys, in this movie, I'm a villain. Could you believe it?
00:29How could this face ever be a villain?
00:31There's no way!
00:33But before we get into this conversation that I'm so excited to have with Candy,
00:37y'all know we love us some Candy Burrs, honey.
00:40Before we get into the conversation, they told me they have a clip
00:43they want us to play from the movie, from The Pickup,
00:45so I haven't seen it yet, so let's go to this and see what they're about to show us.
00:49Hello, Essence Festival. I'm Pete Davidson,
00:53and I know you're in good hands with the one and only Kiki Palmer.
00:56Working with her was a real pleasure.
00:58And I'm excited to give you a special first look at our new film,
01:01The Pickup, where I star alongside Kiki and the legendary Eddie Murphy.
01:06It's a high-stakes heist with a lot of twists and turns and some laughs along the way,
01:10so please enjoy this exclusive clip of The Pickup,
01:13which is coming to Prime Video August 6th.
01:16See you guys later.
01:18Now he doing something new with that mustache, okay?
01:20No takers-on-the-table pancakes? They for everybody.
01:22No, those are robber pancakes.
01:28No, thank you.
01:30It's been a rough day for y'all.
01:32The truck got stolen, and now you're withholding yourself. The joy of eating pancakes. Everybody loves pancakes.
01:37Yeah, you're a dipper, too?
01:38I swear I've never met someone else who dips like that before.
01:41Oh, thank you.
01:42Otherwise, you know, it ain't way too soggy, yeah.
01:46That's crazy.
01:47That's wild. Russell, you ever dip your pancakes?
01:50No, I don't dip my pancakes. I like my pancakes like this. This is how I make my pancakes. I like them all mushed up like this. Get them all like that. Get them on the plate. Oh, that's perfect.
02:00Then I get the syrup and I put it on. I like lots and lots and lots of syrup. That's how my granddaddy used to make them. He used to call these you, flapjacks.
02:09I'm sorry.
02:13Oh, my gosh. I cannot wait for you guys to see that movie. Working with Eddie was absolutely incredible. A moment to remember forever.
02:20August 6th, it comes out. And later on in the conversation with Candy, we're going to play a little pick-up-themed game that I can't wait to get into it with you guys.
02:27Now, without further ado, let's make sure that we give a huge round of applause for the multi-hyphenate singer, actress, reality star, businesswoman extraordinaire, breaking records on Broadway, Ms. Candy Burris!
02:50You look absolutely amazing, but what else is new?
02:59Thank you. You said what?
03:00What else is new? You always look amazing.
03:02Well, thank you. Thanks for having me. What's up, y'all?
03:07Kiki, you got a lot of people out here.
03:09Girl, we got a lot of people. They came to see us, okay?
03:12I mean, now, we always come to Essence Fest. I feel like I've seen you here before, but what's been new this time? Anything happen that was a special moment for you?
03:21Oh, okay. I will start with, on Friday, my girl group that I've been producing, Siren, they performed.
03:28So, I was super excited for them because, you know, they're three young women with a dream.
03:32You know how that feel when you first start in the industry.
03:34Oh, yes.
03:35And to be on the big stage of Essence means a lot, you know? So, I was super excited about that.
03:40And tonight, my group, Escape, we're performing with Jermaine Dupree.
03:45We're doing a tribute to Quincy Jones.
03:48So, it's not just us, you know, other artists, but I don't want to spoil the surprise.
03:53Oh, my gosh. Well, I mean, when it comes to your girl group, how many times do you find yourself being triggered back to your early days with Escape
03:59and helping them on their journey to know how to, you know, keep on that straight and narrow?
04:03Well, I'm always reminded of, like, how my group started.
04:09You know, you see a girl group, you know, you think about all the things that, you know, our disagreement.
04:14Yeah, yeah.
04:15You know, just coming the first time we hear our song on the radio, all of those moments that they're experiencing.
04:21Yeah.
04:22You know, it reminds me of when my group first started.
04:25So, it's definitely making me think about throwbacks from the past.
04:30Well, they're definitely blessed to have somebody like you to be able to guide them through, you know, a veteran.
04:35Now, speaking of all of that, you've been in the game since you were a teenager, and you're still reinventing.
04:40I mean, I've seen and been a part of watching every era of you, and it's been a pleasure.
04:45I mean, when you wake up in the morning, how do you decide which bag you're about to get into?
04:49Now, I know you ain't saying that, Kiki, because I feel like we are alike in a lot of ways.
04:55Girl, we are a lot of, like, me and you going to get to the bag and have fun doing it.
04:59Yes, have fun.
05:00We don't mind, you know, like, I feel like some people, when they put themselves in, oh, I'm an artist, then they never really think about, you know, you know, they think they're too big for certain things.
05:12Yes.
05:12But I think, you know, I see it similar in you.
05:15It's like, we don't mind trying new things.
05:18We don't mind, you know, collaborating with people.
05:21You know, it doesn't matter, you know, if somebody has to always be A-list or anything.
05:25We just like trying things.
05:27We like being creative.
05:28Yeah.
05:28And I don't want to stay in one lane.
05:30I like, you know, I like being behind the scenes, just like I like, you know, being the one on stage at times.
05:37So I try to do both, you know, as long as I can do both, I'm going to do both.
05:41Yeah, because it does get boring, too, when you feel forced to do one thing.
05:45As a creative, you know, I love different mediums because I want to express different facets of myself.
05:49The person that I am when I'm having a conversation with you ain't going to be the same vibe when I'm playing a dramatic character in a movie.
05:55Exactly.
05:55So you got to keep it exciting for yourself.
05:57For sure.
05:58But also you make it a family thing, too, because Riley's been getting out there, and I love seeing her from the fashions to her on the show.
06:05She was getting that man, that boy together.
06:07I said, get him, Riley!
06:08Like, you know, but you're an artist, you're a mom, you're a businesswoman, so there's a lot of juggling going on.
06:13Yeah.
06:14And I mean, this is advice for me, too, because, you know, my little boys, too.
06:17Uh-huh.
06:17You know, how is that, was it for you and is it for you now when juggling that being that mom and then also letting your baby get into the business?
06:25You know, I feel like it's kind of important to put our kids to work early.
06:34Like, you know, even with Ace, you know, I've already, he's already been acting, he's been on the TV show before.
06:41You know, he's done things, you know what I mean, at an early age.
06:45And I just feel like if they are also busy and doing things, then they respect what we do, you know?
06:52Yes.
06:53So, and then, you know, they don't have to grow up to do what we're doing, but at least we've already put them in a position to where, you know, they've been able to establish themselves.
07:05Because that's the thing, you want to set your kids up for greatness, right?
07:08Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:09And then we also, you know, have that mom guilt, right?
07:13Girl.
07:13But when you can bring your kids to work with you and put them to work, then it's all good.
07:17Okay, that's why I blew up you on that stage, I'm out.
07:20I love her.
07:22I feel like I've adapted that wave.
07:24Like, it's so cute.
07:26Yes.
07:27Now, we're talking about TV shows.
07:29I want to know from you, and maybe watching yourself or just hearing other people watching you or seeing the headlines,
07:35what do people think about you that couldn't be further from the truth?
07:40It's a lot.
07:43It's a lot that people think about me that couldn't be further than me.
07:45Like, do you feel like people think you're introverted, extroverted?
07:49Oh, you mean something that's kind of simple and surface and mild.
07:53Exactly.
07:53Okay, we're going to go there.
07:55All right, I would say that, you know, obviously, okay, so, you know, I'm always doing things on social,
08:03but I really don't like to talk a lot.
08:06So, I saw somebody post a post that said, you can talk to me because I'm cool, but I ain't that friendly.
08:12I don't want to keep talking.
08:15Like, let's be like, hey, girl, give me a hug.
08:17You know, let's do, you know.
08:18Yeah.
08:19But to keep the long, I'm not, I was blown out.
08:22Because what are we saying for real?
08:23You know, after a while, that small talk, it becomes draining because what can I do?
08:27Yeah, but I don't talk, I'm not like a big talker.
08:30Like, I have to be in the mood to want to talk.
08:32And I know people probably would be shocked because, you know, we do all this.
08:37Yeah.
08:38But, you know, that's not, you know, I'm very laid back.
08:42Yeah.
08:42Like, I'm very, on a normal basis, I'm very laid back and chill.
08:47And if I go to, like, somewhere where I don't really know a lot of people, I always feel weird and awkward.
08:53I do think that's a misconception that people have by entertainers is that when we get into a room full of a bunch of people,
08:58we somehow don't feel strange or awkward.
09:00Like, I always feel a little bit of a weirdness, but that's why I end up being extra because that's how I deal with it.
09:05I'm like, oh, stop, girl, you know, because that's how I'm making myself feel better about, you know, the white space in between saying, do I say hi?
09:16Do I not say hi?
09:17Yeah.
09:17Well, I try to say hi first.
09:19Yeah.
09:20Because then that throws out the awkwardness of did we meet before, you know what I mean?
09:24Because if I speak to everybody first, then they be like, oh, yeah, she remembered me.
09:27But if I didn't remember them and they come to me and be like, hey, you remember me?
09:31And I'd be like, uh.
09:33Because do I lie now or do I tell you no?
09:35Yeah.
09:36And it's always awkward.
09:38But, no, the funny thing, Riley, now she does it.
09:41But it's a training thing, right?
09:44When you know you are going somewhere for work or you know you got to meet a lot of people where you have to be in good spirits.
09:50Because if I'm not smiling, they're going to say I'm the B word, right?
09:53So, I got to say, cheese.
09:56And then, you know, my voice changes.
10:00It's like, hey, what's up?
10:02Like you just said, right?
10:03Riley always says, oh, you got your TV voice on.
10:07We must about to do something.
10:10She be like.
10:11She cued in.
10:12Yeah, she be like, you have to put your TV voice on.
10:14Because, you know, I really talk like this.
10:16I mumble aloud.
10:17And, you know, you can't understand what I'm saying because I talk through my teeth.
10:20And this is how I talk on a regular basis.
10:22Come on, Atlanta.
10:23That's how I talk.
10:25Exactly.
10:25Very ATL.
10:26You know what I'm saying?
10:27Because that's how I talk when I'm at home with my friends and my family.
10:30You know what I mean?
10:31Yes.
10:31That's how I'm talking.
10:32But when I'm with y'all, I try to talk clearly.
10:36And I bring my tone up.
10:39What do you think is the hardest part?
10:42Because I think you've made it seem so natural and relaxed living your life on reality TV and in public.
10:47But what would you say is the most difficult aspect of being real but also protecting your privacy?
10:52You know what I mean?
10:54Do we really have any privacy?
10:57It's really hard to, I don't know.
11:00I think it's kind of sad.
11:01I think it's a lot of people who are in the public eye, I don't think all of us have managed how to have a private life.
11:09Like I feel like Beyonce has done it the best.
11:11Yeah.
11:11She's very private.
11:13She doesn't put a lot out there.
11:14We only get what she wants us to get, right?
11:18But a lot of us haven't mastered that skill.
11:21So me, I'm kind of like an open book.
11:22And you ask me stuff.
11:23I just say it.
11:24I go home.
11:25My mom be like, now why did you have to say that?
11:28Why did you do that?
11:30You have to tell everybody everything.
11:33That's what my mom is saying to me.
11:35And I just be like, well, shoot, if I say it myself, then I don't have to worry about nobody trying to put me on blast.
11:41I put myself on blast.
11:42I do love spilling my own teeth.
11:44Yes, I will spill my own teeth in a minute.
11:46Stop playing with me.
11:47Now, what I don't like is I pretty much have, you know, been an open book about anything or everything, right?
11:53Yeah.
11:54I hate when people make up something about me.
11:57I'm like, now I already told you.
11:59Now, why you go add stuff?
12:02Because you know people love to put a little extra.
12:04What do they say?
12:05Tens on twos on twos.
12:07Yeah, you're going to put the two on the ten.
12:09That's what we say.
12:10Now, speaking of Mama Joyce, we love her.
12:12And we love this new show that you have coming out on Amazon Live, Generation Face-Off.
12:17And it's going to be featuring you, Mama, and Riley.
12:22Well, we did it already.
12:23We did it in last, like through the end of the year.
12:28We did it in November, December.
12:29And they were saying they wanted to bring it back.
12:31But, you know, but it's really cool because my mom, Riley, and I, you know, it's three different generations, right?
12:38Yeah, because she's Gen Z.
12:40My mama is Baby Boomers.
12:42Wow.
12:43And I'm Gen X.
12:44Wow.
12:44You know, so our opinions are so different.
12:48And my mom and Riley can be like oil and water sometimes.
12:53Really?
12:53Shade is so serious.
12:55It's funny.
12:56I'll be like, ooh, y'all going to cut that out?
12:59No, it's funny.
13:00Like, it's funny shade.
13:02You know what I mean?
13:02Funny shade.
13:03But, you know, my mom is a shade queen, but Riley can be too.
13:07And it's like, Lord, y'all.
13:10Okay, come on.
13:11What is one of the topics that maybe you didn't expect that turned into a whole debate between you guys?
13:17Well, I'm trying to remember because realistically, everything ends up being a debate sometimes.
13:25Yeah.
13:25Especially, like, when my mom don't win.
13:27Like, because we will talk about different items and, you know, because we're doing Amazon Live.
13:33Yeah.
13:33And she'll say her opinion or things she liked from her generation that she pulled.
13:37And Riley will pull something.
13:39And I'll pull something from my generation.
13:41If Riley don't like nothing from my mama's generation, my mama will always be like,
13:44that, you just did that because, you know, it always turns into that.
13:50It always turns personal.
13:52Yeah.
13:52When it's like, I just don't like that.
13:54Yeah.
13:55Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
13:57Well, I want to get into a little bit into music.
13:58I know we talked about, obviously, Escape in the 90s.
14:01But one thing that's crazy, and I just found out recently, you're getting some more checks because of Ed Sheeran's sampling.
14:08Oh, well, yeah.
14:09Yeah, so I have a lot of songs like that that are now my songs that I'm a writer on because they sampled me.
14:17Yeah.
14:17So I guess Ed Sheeran is a Shape of You song.
14:22It is the most streamed song in history now.
14:27And that's a blessing because he sampled No Scrubs.
14:31So I'm a writer on that song, too.
14:33So what that means is, you know, me and Tiny, we both are writers of No Scrubs, and we both get a check off of Ed Sheeran's song, and it's the most played song in history.
14:44So thank you, God.
14:46But we also, you know, like Dolce's song, when she first dropped her first single, which...
14:53I know what you're talking about, the singing one.
14:56Yes.
14:56Oh, my gosh.
14:57That was also one that Tiny and I also have royalties of.
15:01But I have multiple songs like that.
15:03One of that people have sampled different songs that I've written, which gives me new copyrights, basically.
15:09Yeah, it makes...
15:11I need to know when you...
15:12And I know the answer is no way we didn't know, but going back to y'all in the studio writing those songs, I mean, just what type of space were you even in to create such, you know, reusable IP?
15:26Because that's what it is, right?
15:26It's timeless intellectual property.
15:29Actually, we was going through it at the time.
15:32Our group, Escape, was falling apart.
15:35This was after our second album.
15:37And I had told Tiny, I was like, hey, man, we got to figure out what we're going to do, because at the time, one of our group members was going to go solo.
15:45Now, this is back in the day, though.
15:46This is like 99, 98.
15:48And some of y'all wasn't even born yet.
15:49I was like four or five.
15:51Yeah, y'all was little.
15:52But, you know, for me, you know, I was like 19.
15:56Yeah.
15:56And I had just bought a house, but my group was about to fall apart.
16:00And I'm like, well, where the money are going to become?
16:02How am I going to pay my bills?
16:03So I was like, Tiny, we got to figure this out.
16:05We need to try to, maybe we could come up with a project with just the two of us that we could do.
16:10So we started recording songs and writing songs for ourselves.
16:13No Scrubs was one of our own songs we did for us.
16:16It was called Cat, Candy and Tiny, K-A-T.
16:19Anyway, and the song was ours, and somebody played it for L.A. Reid, and he wanted it for TLC.
16:26And after that, after him taking that, using that, he didn't take it, you know, he asked us.
16:32Obviously, we gave it to them.
16:33But that gave me the opportunity to start writing for other people because I always wanted to, but I didn't know how I could, you know, because at the time, I'm an artist, you know, and it's kind of funny.
16:44Yeah, it's another career.
16:45Yeah, you know, some artists don't want other artists in the studio when they're creating.
16:49So I was like, how do I go, how do I get to write for other people?
16:53And this opened the door for me.
16:54And after that, I just stayed in my bag for a while.
16:57I was just writing with different producers.
16:59And you talk about bills.
17:00I mean, you did bills.
17:01Yeah, I wrote with Shakespeare.
17:02So he and I, we went to Texas with Destiny's Child, and they was working on their second album, and we ended up doing five songs on that album.
17:15And let me just say this.
17:17Shout out to Tina Knowles.
17:18I bought her book, and somebody told me, and it was like, somebody kept telling me, you know, you're in her book.
17:27And I was like, what you mean I'm in her book?
17:28But recently, before I got my copy, they played me.
17:34They had the, you know, the listening version.
17:36The audio book, yeah.
17:36The audio book.
17:36And she was reading it.
17:37She talked about how we were working in the studio and how we helped Beyonce become a producer.
17:46Like, she was in there producing.
17:48And it was just a, it had me teary-eyed, y'all.
17:51I was in there about to cry, listening to her, talking about that experience, because it was a great experience for me.
17:56And to hear her put in her book, child, I was over there being a big baby, crying.
18:02I was like, wow.
18:03But it's another show of paying it forward, with your history of being in a girl group and then being a part of that moment with Destiny's Child.
18:09And then, obviously, like you said, with Siren, which you just got, you guys just dropped the softest.
18:14Yes.
18:15Working a classic of an escape song.
18:17Yes, yes.
18:18They, um, they sampled it and made their own version.
18:23It's super dope.
18:24So, Siren, like, I always, you know, I always try to pay it forward, right?
18:30Yes.
18:31And everything I do and working with other people.
18:33And I really feel like it's time for girl groups to come back.
18:37No, for sure.
18:37For sure.
18:38And I, these girls can really sing.
18:41So, they just dropped their, on their EP.
18:44Please, y'all check it out.
18:45It's Siren spelled P-S-I, like Omega Psy, you know, like the sci-fi.
18:50But anyway, um, Siren, and they, it's called, their EP is called In the Key of Us.
18:58So, please add it to your playlist.
19:00I'm telling you, you will not regret it.
19:01They can sing their butts off in his jamming.
19:03Congratulations to Siren.
19:05Congratulations to you on Net Endeavor.
19:07Now, I do want to go back to Real Housewives of Atlanta.
19:10I mean, I literally, I mean, you have some of the most iconic moments on the show.
19:17How did you survive so long without letting the drama break you?
19:20Because, I mean, a lot of people don't make it all the, you know what I'm saying?
19:23A lot of people are like, I got to go or, you know what I'm saying?
19:25I was there for 14 seasons.
19:28That's a long time.
19:2914 seasons straight.
19:30I mean, that was a long time.
19:32Now, no breaks.
19:34Now, I don't know if anybody else has done that many seasons with any breaks.
19:38But at the time I left, I was the longest running housewife of any franchise.
19:44Now, I know other, you know, we have a couple other housewives that have done that.
19:48But they, you know, either taken a break or something like that.
19:51Yeah.
19:52But what I will say was, what I will say is that it was tough.
19:58But I wouldn't change it.
20:00You know what I mean?
20:01I wouldn't change it because I did, I can go back and watch so many moments in my life.
20:06I can see my kids grow up.
20:08When I first started, Riley was only six years old.
20:11She's 22, about to be 23 now, y'all.
20:13I remember seeing her on there.
20:15And now she's on Jen, what is it, the next Jen on Bravo right now on her own show.
20:23You know what I mean?
20:23And she's handling her own.
20:25It's really cool to see.
20:26So, being on there, you know, I dealt with a lot of things that, you know, felt like it was about to break me at times.
20:33But, you know, you just stay on there and you get past it.
20:37You show people different sides of you, you know.
20:39And you're going to have people that hate you.
20:41And you're going to have people that love you.
20:43And you just got to roll.
20:44You just got to keep pushing.
20:45What were some of the good moments that made you decide to stay?
20:49I met my husband on that show.
20:52Yeah.
20:52If I wasn't on that show, I wouldn't have met Todd and think what I would have missed out on.
20:58Now I got AIDS, I got blaze, you know.
21:00And you went through it.
21:01I mean, that was really awesome to also see how you guys always saw the vision for yourself,
21:05even when sometimes you would be taking stuff from Mama Miss Joyce up on the show.
21:10I really love seeing that from you.
21:12My mama, she really should have her own peach.
21:16You know what I'm just saying.
21:17But even still, like, you know, being able to see moments of my family.
21:21You know, we had our own spinoff, Candy and the Gang.
21:24Yep, I watched that, too.
21:25You know, thanks.
21:26And my wedding show and so many other spinoffs as well.
21:31But, you know, to have that history on film that my family, we can always go back and see it.
21:37You know what I mean?
21:37It's beautiful.
21:38It's like having your own home but perfectly made VHS of family memories.
21:42Yeah.
21:43Yeah.
21:43I mean, obviously, you said you're never going to speak to Phaedra again.
21:46No.
21:46No shade, no tea.
21:48You don't want to push too hard.
21:49But do you think there's any way that she could get you to look her way again?
21:54Has she ever tried to reach out?
21:55No.
21:57She never tried to reach out.
21:59No.
22:00Because she know.
22:01Huh?
22:02Because she knows that it ain't.
22:03No.
22:04It's, yeah, there's no reason for us to communicate it.
22:08We've been in the same room before, but there's no reason for us to communicate.
22:10And you guys just, you know, you kind of just avoid or not even avoid, but just, you know, the whole thing.
22:14We just don't interact.
22:16We just don't speak.
22:17I mean, I'm not disrespectful.
22:19I don't come in cussing nobody out.
22:21And we just, you stay your way, I stay my way.
22:24You know, I don't feel the need to fake it for the world in that situation.
22:29I feel like people, I see people online trying to change what happened.
22:32Obviously, y'all did not watch the show.
22:34Y'all did not really pay attention to what happened.
22:36Yeah.
22:36And I do not, I do not care to re-explain it.
22:39I do not care to bring it up no more.
22:41If y'all, you know, if people feel how they feel, I feel I ain't changing, so.
22:46And being on the show, were there ever times where the producers try to, oh, let's bring it back or let's try to go?
22:51So they knew to respect it, too?
22:53No.
22:54Not at all.
22:55Not, not, no.
22:56Yeah.
22:57Mm-mm.
22:59No.
22:59Now, you were, she said, hell no, y'all.
23:03Did y'all hear that?
23:03No, it's like, no.
23:05It's like, I mean, I don't really feel the need.
23:07Because, you know, the producers of these shows, sometimes, like, I don't think people understand.
23:10It could be a lot what, you know, you guys are juggling.
23:12Not only are you juggling the relationships on the show, but you're juggling the relationships that people are trying to have with the producers to stay on the show.
23:18And so it becomes a lot of mess.
23:20Well, at the time, what was said was supposedly had been blamed on a producer.
23:26Right.
23:26And at the time, that producer said, absolutely not.
23:31They did not say that, and that was not true, and it was a whole thing.
23:35So for it to come back now, people still be trying to say it was the producer that said that it's not true.
23:40And I don't know why y'all be trying to believe that.
23:43Yeah, yeah.
23:44So we can move past.
23:45I mean, you were there.
23:46You were there, so I believe you.
23:47We were there.
23:48You were also really vocal about Kenya Moore, like, supporting her, you know, how they would disrespect her in the promos and, you know.
23:56Yeah, well, here's my thing.
23:57Everybody was like, oh, you know, why would you say, here's my thing.
24:00That's my girl.
24:01And I think people don't understand friendship.
24:04Y'all don't understand that my friend could be wrong or do something that's not tactful or whatever,
24:10but I can still have a conversation with her separately and not have to drag her publicly about something that she did when, you know, whatever.
24:18So at the end of the day, I do feel like, and after it's played out, there was wrong.
24:26It was wrong on both sides.
24:28And I just kind of felt like, you know, you can't take one off and not take the other off.
24:34I felt like that was wrong.
24:35You know what I mean?
24:36And, you know, y'all can disagree with me, but that's how I felt.
24:40And I'm definitely going to support my girl and say they didn't even give her the opportunity to come back and apologize.
24:45Everybody else got the chance to come back and apologize, you know.
24:50Yeah, yeah.
24:51So, you know, why she don't get that chance?
24:54Now she's gone with the win.
24:56Fabulous.
24:57Well, she's still fabulous.
24:58Why would I go back to that old school?
25:01I feel like if other people win, get to blow back on their husband, get to blow back on their too.
25:06Kenya will always be that girl.
25:08Y'all remember Twa?
25:11Y'all don't remember Twa?
25:12I remember Twa.
25:16Too young to be watching it.
25:17Too young, but it was a good job.
25:21You have a lot of businesses.
25:22I just want to give this moment right now.
25:24What are the other endeavors?
25:25We were just talking before you came out about Broadway and you guys breaking records.
25:30I have to keep saying that because this was the first time I think you even produced something on Broadway.
25:34That was, no, that was my fourth production on Broadway, Othello.
25:40So my first one was Thoughts of a Colored Man.
25:42They showed that on the show on Housewives.
25:44Yeah, they actually do remember that.
25:45Yes, yes, yes.
25:46And the second one was The Piano Lesson.
25:48Oh, my gosh.
25:49Yes, it was amazing.
25:50And we did great with The Piano Lesson.
25:53And we actually got a Tony nomination for The Piano Lesson.
25:56And then the third one was The Wiz.
26:01I hope a lot of y'all got a chance to see it.
26:03It was amazing.
26:04Wow.
26:04And then it was Othello.
26:05So that was my fourth one.
26:07And we broke history.
26:08We made history with Othello.
26:10And I'm so thankful and grateful to be a part of it.
26:14And I'm so thankful for, you know, Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal for being the stars of that show.
26:20But I want to say I'm especially thankful for Brian Moreland, who is my mentor and my friend.
26:26We produced all of our shows together.
26:29Wow.
26:30Yeah, but he's the lead producer.
26:32And he constantly kind of teaches me, you know, okay, this is what we need to do.
26:37This is how we do it.
26:38And it's been a great mentor.
26:40Just for those of you guys who don't know, like Broadway, you know, theater, it's very difficult to get into.
26:46You know what I mean?
26:46Especially when you think about a person of color.
26:48So it's really incredible that you've been doing it and keep doing it and breaking these records.
26:52Because it shows, you know, we could get into these different spaces.
26:55Yeah, it's not necessarily easy.
26:59No.
26:59To really.
27:01Not at all.
27:02Get in that world.
27:03No.
27:04So, yeah, I'm trying to continue being in that world and make space, you know,
27:10for more of us, you know, to bring the culture, honey.
27:12That's right.
27:12It is, man.
27:13That's right.
27:13Well, you know, you know when to call your girl on the next one.
27:18Oh, you know, you know, we definitely going to have to call you now.
27:21You know, y'all heard her.
27:24Okay.
27:25Obviously, you also do amazing products.
27:27I mean, just what is coming next that we can expect, you know, from you?
27:31I remember I just seen something the other night on Tubi, one of these movies you did.
27:34You was gangster scamming my girl, Drew.
27:38Yes.
27:38I love that movie.
27:39So, yes, my husband and I, we produce movies now.
27:42And we produced, that was one of our movies, The Past.
27:44It's on Tubi right now.
27:46But then we also have a new one coming called Don't Bring Your Man to Atlanta.
27:52It is.
27:53Now that sounds good.
27:53Good, good, good, good, good, good.
27:56It's coming soon.
27:57My husband and I produced that.
27:58But you can actually hit the link in Todd's bio right now.
28:02That sounds like one of them Zane novels.
28:04Don't Bring Your Man to Atlanta.
28:05Don't Bring Your Man to Atlanta.
28:07It's real good.
28:07I can't wait for the world to see it.
28:08But it's starring Shamia in that one.
28:10Oh, shout out Shamia.
28:12I just seen her at the hotel the other day looking good.
28:14She always looks so cute.
28:15Yes, she's doing her thing.
28:16Shout out to Shamia.
28:17Yes.
28:18So, I'm excited about that one coming out next.
28:21And, yeah, produce some more films.
28:23I do have products.
28:25And you can get them on Amazon.
28:26I love it.
28:27We got to shout that out.
28:28You know, Candy Coated Cosmetics.
28:30And then we have some other products on Amazon.
28:33Yeah.
28:34Well, we all grown.
28:35I mean, most of us.
28:36Y'all know what she talking about.
28:37Yeah.
28:39But I want to shout all that out because you're so incredible.
28:41Before I let you go, though, we got to play a fun game.
28:43I love playing games with my guests.
28:45And this one's kind of, like, interactive with y'all, honestly.
28:48Okay?
28:49So, it's going to be called Pick Up or Put Down, where we test the smoothest, corniest, and downright reckless pickup line.
28:58So, it's going to be me and Candy judging.
29:01And y'all need to get loud.
29:02Okay?
29:02So, we're going to say a pickup line.
29:04And then y'all let us know what y'all, you know, audience.
29:07Screaming yes or screaming no if it's one that you would not pick up.
29:11Okay?
29:11Pick up or put down.
29:13Does that follow?
29:13Y'all get what I'm saying?
29:15Okay.
29:16Here we go.
29:18Okay.
29:18I've highlighted them.
29:19So, once I say one, then I'm going to hand it to you to say Candy.
29:21Okay?
29:22Okay.
29:23All right.
29:23This is me.
29:24I'm ready.
29:24And I'm about to put on my voice.
29:26I'm really about to give it to y'all.
29:28So, don't get all excited.
29:31Oh, here we go.
29:33What's the question?
29:33Hey, mama.
29:35On a scale of one to ten, you a nine, and I'm the one you need.
29:43Wait, what?
29:47Okay, they said no.
29:48The next highlighted one is you.
29:51No.
29:52Okay, here's one.
29:55Have you been sitting on sugar?
29:58Because, damn, that ass looks sweet.
30:03No, I...
30:04Now, I might go for that.
30:05She just said a real sexy.
30:07I got to be sexier.
30:08That's how you got to say.
30:09I got to be sexier.
30:10She's out sexier.
30:11You know, I'm sweet.
30:12So, I'd be like, oh, you talking about me?
30:17Okay, here we go.
30:18Oh, um...
30:19Y'all, don't make me laugh.
30:27Okay.
30:29Did you fall out of a vending machine?
30:30Because you a snack.
30:33Hey!
30:37You're losing, Kiki.
30:38You're losing.
30:39Mine is not good.
30:41I'm going to redeem myself.
30:42Just y'all wait.
30:44Okay.
30:46She said, okay.
30:47She already ready.
30:47You got to give it the vibes.
30:50Here we go.
30:51If I had four quarters to give to the four prettiest women in the world, you'd have a dollar.
31:01She's sexy.
31:02She's doing it.
31:03She's doing it to you guys.
31:05She's seducing all of you in front of my eyes.
31:08Okay, okay.
31:09Here it comes.
31:10Kiki, I know you got more game than that, man.
31:12Come on.
31:12My game is goofy.
31:16I laugh them out their drawers.
31:18No.
31:19Come on.
31:20Holler at your girl.
31:21No.
31:25Okay.
31:26This is me redeeming myself.
31:27Here we go.
31:29I'm going to do it in my voice.
31:30I'm going to do it in my voice.
31:32I'm on a date right now.
31:35Let me buy you a sinner.
31:37I'll be the dessert.
31:37I'll be the dessert.
31:38Ah, they like that.
31:42They like that.
31:43They like that one.
31:45Okay, last ones on Candy.
31:48You guys are fun.
31:50Let's see.
31:54Honey, just by seeing you from behind, I know you're a well-rounded person.
32:02All right, y'all.
32:07Please give a warm round of applause for the amazing Candy Beerus.
32:12Yay.
32:16We love you, baby.
32:18We love you, baby.
32:18We love you.
