00:00Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, says the stink and dutty FET won't take place in Shagaramas again.
00:07The minister said he spoke to both the police commissioner and the ACP for the Northwest Division
00:11and was advised that no event of that magnitude can be held there again.
00:17The FET attracted more than 17,000 patrons to the heliport in Shagaramas on Saturday,
00:24resulting in gridlock traffic throughout the day along the peninsula.
00:27Several businesses were forced to close, residents along the route had no access to and from their homes
00:33and there were multiple vehicular accidents and incidents that required police intervention.
00:39Alexander said that contrary to reports, there was a comprehensive police plan in place
00:43which included the deployment of over 100 officers for the event.
00:48However, he acknowledged that the plan ultimately failed given the shared volume of people
00:54and the single narrow access route.
00:56Alexander said he reviewed the comprehensive plan and was satisfied that from a policing standpoint,
01:02everything that could have been done was done.
