00:00we're going to get into our next panel oh my god we have got some extremely influential women
00:15coming to this stage I'm talking about shakers and taste makers in the building and they're here just
00:21for you to ask all of the questions to get all of the information that you need so if you've ever
00:27wondered what it's like to navigate and conquer a male-dominated industry you're in the right
00:34place I'm gonna be joined at the stage by two lovely ladies they can come on out joining me
00:40is WNBA star and two-time Olympic gold medalist Angel McCautry hey and we also have a CAA agent
00:53in the building come on out Yves Pierre yes give her a round of applause as she comes
00:58getting them contracts together listen getting these contracts together right we love it wow
01:06two very accomplished women thank you for being here with us thank you for having us yeah now so
01:12I mean you're both in industries that are difficult to break into and a lot of people want to be in
01:18sports want to be in entertainment how did you get your start how did you break in
01:23you know I'm from Baltimore Maryland I just started playing basketball at eight I would go off the street
01:31and play but it was not a group of women so I'm the only girl out there playing with the guys and what
01:36do you get labeled as tomboy no women play sports get over it you know but I just love the game and I love
01:43the passion behind it and the thing about playing ball was I never knew that finding that passion
01:48could take me all over the world so to be an Olympic gold medalist just with finding your passion and
01:54finding what you love yes I love that we were talking about passion last session that's a recurrent
01:59theme right there all right Yves tell us how did you get into this industry um it was just my love for
02:05music literally um I was in college I was a computer science major and I needed an outlet from programming
02:12all day and on online looking at um different industry websites and Def Jam had a college rep
02:18program and they were taking applications and I said hey let me just try it it's a great little outlet
02:22um and you know however many years later it turns into you just you just tried it I tried it wow I'm that
02:30that's that's the story right it was my love of music that kept you going yeah because I'm sure
02:34there's much more to your story than that right absolutely because yeah you may get the one
02:39opportunity but I'm sure there's a lot of things that will deter you from from staying in that
02:44industry especially the music industry being so male dominated can you speak to that a little bit
02:49absolutely you know um just starting out and not knowing anything about the music business being a
02:55first-generation Haitian American you know my family's very much doctor lawyer you know all those things
03:00so this creative outlet where they couldn't see anything really tangible you know in terms of
03:04making money or survival or anything like that they were just like go get your degree this is what
03:09you're going to do and I said no you know I love it I would come home and intern in the office and just
03:13be around and try to be a resource and sort of get my hands in a little bit of everything because I
03:20didn't know what path I was going to sort of be in so it was literally just being open to opportunity
03:24keeping a open mindset and just sort of being open to the journey and just soaking up all
03:30the information and then you sort of figure out your path but it's really just being accessible
03:34being open and it sort of turns over so I was a college rep for Def Jam and then I turned into an
03:41intern at Rockefeller Records and I got hired and then I worked that I moved over to Def Jam I went
03:47back and I was there for five years and it just sort of everything just sort of snowballed and then I
03:51like ten years ago I ended up at ICM and then they announced the merger this Tuesday yeah CAA
03:58purchased ICM so I'm now at CA whoa that's amazing I mean are you guys like the biggest agency I mean
04:07but the two resources of those two companies combined yeah we'll probably one of the if not the largest
04:11agency that's a black woman right there right give it up for that it's a black woman at CAA I love it
04:19all right Angel tell me what is something that you wish you knew when you were going into the
04:25industry yeah um entering the WNBA in 2009 uh social media wasn't big it was this new thing called
04:33Twitter you know I just wish uh at that age you know a young girl coming out of college just wanted
04:39to play ball that I knew about connecting with people relationships you know the stuff I know now
04:44I wish I knew that when I was younger you know um but I think the main thing is just learning and
04:48it's all about who you know right and and and like you said going back to male dominated industries
04:53it's not just sports it's everything right yeah it's just about showing your value speaking up for
04:58what you believe in women not negotiating your no your no means no right yeah it's not negotiation
05:04so those kind of things showing your value as a woman that in your passion that you're proud of it
05:09and that you you value it yeah I love that oh wait say say more about not negotiating your no
05:15women no doesn't mean negotiation yeah it's a complete sentence right it's a complete I'm still
05:20learning that one too is anybody in here still learning that one right it's a complete sentence
05:24mm-hmm all right well yeah we got to get on that one and is what is there something that you wish you
05:30knew when you were starting the industry Eves um like she said just sort of being confident
05:36standing on that right like you think that you're in this space and you really don't know or you you
05:42have that gut feeling and you're just like uh do I follow that follow your gut like that will
05:47literally lead you in the right direction and I think you get into an industry and there's people
05:52above you that think they know and they want to tell you what's good and what's not and you know that
05:56you in your head you're within a culture that's your everyday life don't allow people to sway you
06:02yes let me let me say one more thing that I did wish I knew too and creating something that you love
06:08create a good team mm-hmm a good team around you because they say most businesses fail because people
06:14steal from a business right so that means maybe not not have the right people around so really make sure
06:20your circle is is cleansed and what are you trying to go yeah that's important the team now Angel yeah I'm
06:27sorry go ahead support system yeah yes it's true now Angel everybody thinks about sports from you know
06:33just from the athlete side right you're thinking about the people you see on camera you know on the
06:39court kind of thing but there's so much more to sports and I know you're branching out into a lot of
06:45different areas can you talk about the various in the various ways that you can work inside the sports
06:52industry so one thing when I always talk to the kids uh they always raise their hand they want to go
06:57to the NBA to WBA to NFL that's all I know right it's like this tunnel vision and I'm like do you
07:01guys know you can use this sport to get a free education to college to major in something uh you
07:06can be a coach you can play overseas you can be a general manager it's so much you could be uh sports
07:12medicine the NBA is hiring more women than ever before so I just try to get them to realize there's
07:17so much more within the game and you can use it or whatever your passion is use it for other things I
07:23remember when I started um you know doing other things and like getting into TV and film somebody
07:27was like you need to stay in your lane so when you're driving the car home you stay in one lane
07:31the whole time right or you can switch lanes to go to your destination right you can do different
07:35things why not life is short do different things try different things step out your comfort zone
07:40it's okay you know listen one thing I heard I heard Jim Carrey said he said most people fail at what
07:46they don't love anyway oh yes so why not do that what you love you know so that means stepping out
07:52the comfort zone I love that um and you are branching into Hollywood into TV and film as well can you talk
08:01about that becoming an executive producer what's that transition like how do you do that so you know
08:07I crave I just crave being creative yeah I crave the applause you know you played basketball since you're
08:12eight and people cheer and so you you kind of crave that because I'm at the end of my career where
08:16I'll I'll retire soon so I want to continue to hit applause I want to continue to bring things and
08:22stories to life so that's how we just did a documentary called we are the W it's a documentary about three
08:28Dumb Bay players including myself just because nobody kind of knows the women's stories we all know
08:33LeBron James and we know the men so it's getting into the women's stories and what we go through because
08:37Dumb Bay players they have babies and they come back and play they're married well and
08:42that's like you got to take care of your husband yeah yeah it's so much with being an athlete that
08:46nobody explores these women bring their children overseas to play because everybody knows we make
08:51more money overseas um so different things I've lived in Istanbul Russia all those places of course
08:57we want to bring Brittany Griner back but you know those are just our life and nobody knows much about
09:02that so I want to bring those stories to life so that's how I kind of got into the executive producing
09:05kind of um yeah and so I love that it's it's so so important right um and I aspire like I aspire to
09:18be an executive producer and to be able to transition and change those lanes and all of that right yes
09:23we'll be waiting for it okay we're gonna talk yeah right right any aspiring uh executive producers
09:31film people in the house anybody yeah right we're creatives we can do so many things right um Eves I
09:39just want to know about the day-to-day of what your role actually encompasses um it's a little bit of
09:46everything it's negotiation yeah talking someone off of a ledge um it's make you know presenting and
09:55pitching for a client and sort of being their voice it's internally in a building uh you know it not
10:03everyone knows the day-to-day of an artist or where or what lane they're gonna fit into right so when a
10:09client signs with me and they tell me their hopes and dreams and aspirations it's my job to figure that
10:15out right and if it's not something that it's immediate it's that six-month plan it's that 18th
10:20month plan it's the two you know it's that two-year plan where we sit there and we craft this this whole
10:26thing and then I have to go within my building and all those other departments and make sure that
10:32they're working to achieve those goals and dreams and you know everyone doesn't get it immediately like
10:37I've literally signed clients where you know if I sign them for as a musician and they want to be an
10:42actor and actress and the talent department's like no I don't want to work with that it's not a
10:47non-negotiable and then two years later they've been on two different series series regulars and
10:52the agents looking at me like oh thank you and I go hmm told you yeah told you right right so you
10:57know you you're fighting for people that don't necessarily have a voice and especially in the
11:02entertainment industry when you look at these agencies the landscape is not diverse in any of
11:07these departments when you think about even in the music department at any agency currently I'm the
11:14only black female agent at any talent agency wow and if you think about the clamp the clients that
11:21are assigned to these agencies whether it's you know where Kendrick sign or Drake sign or J Cole is
11:26signed you know they have there are a majority of them that don't have someone of color advocating for
11:33them as their agent so when you look at all these other smaller artists that are coming up who who's
11:38going to fight for them at the end of the day they still want to perform they still want to be
11:42actors and actresses and things of that nature so there needs to be someone that's going to
11:46understand that and understand that it's going to take a drive and a real plan to get there but if
11:53it's someone that doesn't look like you that doesn't understand that or can kind of see down the
11:57line you're not going to get that same service exactly absolutely and can I say something about
12:02that it is so important what she just said to have good people that fight for you and good agents
12:06because even in this business entertainment business you have so many crooked agents they
12:11could say oh I have a deal for you for a hundred thousand really the deal was 150 so they keep the
12:1550,000 and take the 20% off the hundred yeah so all those things happen so to have people like
12:21her you just don't understand the depth of really what she's saying you know what I mean yeah it's so
12:26important to have and to have someone who looks like you advocate for you I can tell you as
12:30talent also like all of my reps for the most part they don't look like me so when I'm having certain
12:36conversations they don't understand what I'm talking about they don't know how to do my hair on set y'all
12:41oh yeah they don't have my foundation color and they're like whoa I mean can you braid it can you like
12:47what can you do with it and then and then those people in terms of priority of what's important to
12:53somebody realize that there's someone setting that for you as a client you are not talking to these
12:59talent people directly right when you think about you sign on to a film and it's a director or writer
13:03whatever a lot of those conversations in terms of when you sit in that role and you start to work
13:07a lot of those conversations happen before you get there and as a talent you're not having those
13:12day-to-day minutia conversations and the little things matter right in terms of like small things
13:18that will eventually turn into something big like she just mentioned hair when you think about going
13:23on set and god forbid it rains or whatever that is being able to pivot you have to know what that
13:29that pivot looks like if someone doesn't know what you're going through or can kind of sort of see that
13:36you're going to bump your head so many times before you get to a real result whereas if you had someone
13:41that says hey I know what these five steps are going to look like
13:44like let's actually gear towards those five steps instead of trying to bump our head getting there
13:49that's a different conversation that's time that's because on that point money is like money is actually
13:56time that's currency so when you think about not having someone that actually knows the lay of the
14:01land for the minutia you will sit there and waste time which wastes money which at the end of the day
14:07no one wants to do so yeah that sort of thing really does matter oh she dropping them gems listen are y'all
14:12picking them up taking them are y'all picking up the gems so she dropping them okay we also have
14:17another tastemaker who's going to join the stage right now we have atoya burleson come on up yes
14:24thank you for joining us how are you guys doing atoya hi how are you yes and please i mean well for one
14:30you just look amazing you just thank you i just came from beauty carnival so pardon my tardiness we
14:35were moving fast over there but not fast enough so absolutely i mean tell us about you atoya oh my
14:42goodness yes break it all down you know i was really excited about this panel because i was a
14:46former athlete um i was a conference turtle champion in the college um and i met my husband nate brosan
14:54in college and we've been transitioned into the nfl world um so listening just sitting back here
14:59listening to you guys i was so excited because all of these realms of life i've been a part of
15:06and all the people here that are listening i thought to myself they need to know the challenges
15:11right because you guys see who we are on the outside but it's like how did you get there what
15:16where did you fall you know so my question you know for you guys i know i was supposed to talk about me
15:21but i'm just going to say a little bit about me and um i'll kind of weave it in later but i guess my
15:26question for you guys is i know a lot of your stories but talk to them about when you fail or when
15:32something unexpected a tragedy happened in your life how did it affect you and how did you use it
15:38for triumph who wants to jump in on that that is a question right there angel you got something for
15:46us i mean yeah you know in life you're always going to go through ups and downs right especially with
15:51things you love so for example um in the dub and b i missed the olympics last year devastated i tore my acl
15:58and i'm like i'm supposed to be in olympics i'm supposed to be doing this and doing that i have
16:01to sit and watch the season it's devastating right but the thing is you keep going you keep going and
16:07you keep going and you go to rehab and yeah you you have your moments where you cry that where you're
16:12down but you got to pick yourself back up you know how often do you encourage yourself it's kind
16:17of like do you need that coach to motivate you or do you know how to do it for you
16:20that's good so i had to i had to pick it back up come on you got this all right 2024 olympics here we
16:27come let's get back into wmba let's get this knee right so you you keep going you just do not stop
16:32did you find any other sides of you angel when you oh yeah that's that's the part that people don't
16:37know about i think there's like an identity struggle there is as an athlete right there is
16:42everything is about who you are who everybody else you know they make you feel good you're just this
16:46personal so then you crash yeah and then you're like i don't have any of them so was that a
16:51struggle it was definitely a big struggle struggle and actually the injury helped me get into those
16:55other things like exactly it helped me figure out other things outside the game i'm playing basketball
16:59since i'm eight i don't know anything else you know then all of a sudden it stops who am i what do
17:05you know so that helped me to start figuring out other other pathways and i realized my identity is not
17:11based on me being a basketball player your identity is just based on who you are as a person
17:16your character you know so um i'm glad you brought that up because that's good stuff you know
17:22stay with you eva i know you probably have a story too yes um i'll say you spoke about personal i think
17:27i'll talk about i guess the professional side of this you know my journey or you know so i was at
17:32def jam and been there for five years company girl and layoffs happen right you know the music business
17:38is changing streaming is sort of eradicated what we know to be our sort of normal mode of working and
17:46making money and things of that nature um and there's around the layoffs and i'm like what am
17:51i going to do right you know you've i've been tied to that company for so long i was a college rep for
17:56them i'd work come and work during the summer time ended up rockefeller records because of that spent
18:00five years there so it's like that's your identity right you're that girl exactly um and i was like damn
18:06it like i didn't think that would ever i didn't think that would happen in terms of the time the people
18:10that i knew who i worked for at the time i was like i want to get laid off get laid off and i'm like
18:16shit um and you know you sit there and you sit there and you wallow and i had a friend that called
18:23me i think the next day he's like yo why didn't you call me why didn't you tell me and i was like
18:28uh i didn't know you know you're still sort of sitting in your own heads he was like come work for me
18:34that was neil's manager and i had worked i had worked for them at death cam yeah and we had
18:39developed such a great relationship but i wasn't thinking about that i was wallowing in that
18:45and he literally was just like i don't know why you would never call me literally got a job the next
18:50day oh my god whoa there's a lesson yeah everything has a purpose right it's talk it's actually like
18:57advocating for yourself having people advocate for you like all those things mean so much but if you
19:04don't speak up if you don't open your mouth no one knows what you're going through right so it's you
19:09have to sort of be vulnerable and in that moment vulnerability is huge so hard oh my god um and that
19:17led me to you know where i am today in terms of getting outside of a label building i never thought
19:23i wouldn't work at a label and now i know i'll never go back yeah so say that and what i heard in that
19:29that was so important is someone else found out that she used to work with right she'd already
19:35she already made those connections not even realizing that later on down the road those connections
19:40would mean something so never burn your bridges nope because you're going to meet different people
19:44along the way and you never know how it's going to turn right back around and meet you again and so
19:48that was a blessing for you and that's been my career the entire time i went from neo to working with
19:54producers and writers to working with dream dream led me to icm 10 years ago because we were representing
20:00him at that time and you know the eight his agent advocated for me to work there and that literally
20:06just snowballed i signed my first client as a coordinator wow wow from a relationship from death
20:11jam i signed little yachty right and i i knew nothing didn't know nothing about it but i had that
20:17relationship with his manager from 15 years ago and i signed him as a coordinator and just snowballed
20:25into everything so that is absolutely do not burn your bridges now it's not to say let people walk
20:31all over you but there's something in integrity there's something in your word there's something in
20:35your work that is that is everything so and relationships are important yes and we're not going to skip over
20:41you atoya i know you have a story yes what is your story of triumph oh gosh you know i think for me
20:47my story of triumph is i've always been a go-getter so when i went to college on a track scholarship
20:52and then i i want i thought everything was just working the way it was supposed to um i met nate
20:57who we we eventually got married and we moved a lot because he played in the nfl so we were like three
21:03years in minnesota that contract expired you know about that and we went to seattle for four years and
21:08then that one expired and we were in detroit for four years so in that i feel like for me i i lost i didn't
21:15necessarily lose myself but i was more cognizant of taking care of the family you know we have three
21:22kids so you know i'm packing up the family twice a year we have to move to wherever he's playing
21:26then we pack up after the season we move back home so i'm in that realm and being in that realm and
21:33before that i used to work so when it was originally when he first started i was working and so the hardest
21:39part for me was giving up myself and being selfless and serving my family and i knew that that wasn't
21:46forever but you know when you're in it it feels like forever so for me just realizing when my kids got
21:53to a certain age and we were stable when we moved to new jersey we were stable i said i'm ready to
21:59find myself again and rediscover who i am over all these years and build something even better right
22:06and so having the opportunity the platform to be able to talk to women to connect with them to talk
22:11about family issues the business side um sports like there's so many different realms and then my
22:16husband transitioned from sports after 11 years in the nfl he went into media which is a whole nother
22:22realm right so for me it was just really finding my own and standing in my truth and sharing with
22:30others because one thing i learned even with all these different teams that i was on with well three
22:34different teams but all the different women that i met people aren't they're not they're not vulnerable
22:39enough they don't want to speak about the different things that you should be talking to each other
22:44about because i would bring something up and they're like oh me too make me too and i'm like well why haven't
22:49you guys said anything why aren't we discussing these topics why aren't we creating something why aren't
22:54we a village coming together making each other better so for me that's the most important thing and
22:59that's why i love being here with all these beautiful women is you know it's important for us to share
23:04and it's important it's important for us to give to you guys and listen to what it is that you need
23:09because somewhere down the line we were you you know someone was sharing and feeding feeding into our
23:15minds and pulling us up and telling us how great we are and what we need to do to get there so this
23:21having this platform and being able to talk about this um i almost feel like there should be like some
23:26type of manual or book you know what i mean that you can go to and and and figure out okay well i want to
23:31do this i want to be this how do i get there what's the steps you know and i think this is a great start
23:36for that because you guys have the opportunity to listen to these women but then you got to go out
23:41there and act and that's the hardest part stepping out in faith and actually doing it but it doesn't
23:47have to be perfect you know when i first started out it wasn't perfect but i'm here i love what i do and
23:54i hope you guys find your passion if you have any questions y'all can always hit me up i'm open so i love that
24:00i love that you just you just preached a sermon right like pass the offering plate there were so
24:05many gems in there did y'all get that yes oh and we do have time for questions yes so does anyone have
24:12questions you can just step to the microphone right here in the middle of the aisle
24:22and tell us your name hi everyone thank you so much you all are just dropping all the nuggets and
24:28everything we need for today and it is just a blessing to have you all here and to be here
24:33in community my name is mickey grace and i am from chicago illinois i'm currently a student studying
24:41liturgical arts and culture at the interdenominational center in atlanta seminary school
24:47so okay so my question is twofold and you know you all can go at it one question is thinking about how
24:56you angel are transitioning in this evolution i'll call it an evolution uh from basketball to executive
25:04producing and i'm curious to know about um have you struggled with perception right i think me i
25:14sometimes struggle a lot with thinking about this is how everybody sees me you know this is how i'm
25:20perceived what is it going to look like or feel like when i'm like well i'm this now you know and
25:26i want to be this so that's one and then the second one is really thinking about for all of you
25:35let's let's let's do the first one first i just want to stop you right there we'll handle the first
25:38one can you address that yeah i think all of us have probably struggled with perception of what people
25:45think i need i think um you know you have to get to that point where you just kind of don't care
25:51but and know who you are but still have your morals and your values attached to you so i remember one
25:58time i was playing in istanbul uh way back when and my coach was treating me really really bad so
26:04remember i told y'all twitter had just came out and people were starting to express themselves on twitter
26:08so i had tweeted i think my coach might be a little right so you know what i'm saying um next day in
26:14istanbul i'm in the papers i got in big trouble my perception was just horrible and i just felt really
26:21really down about it so what i did is i said okay how can i fix this i'm obviously in the papers for
26:27nothing good and i've had many experiences like that by the way so but each time what i've done i said okay how do
26:34i revamp myself how do i show people you know that i'm not this person that they think you just be
26:41yourself you continue to work on your craft and you continue to work hard and from that it just goes
26:46away because people have short-term memory really like what you like really in a week i scored like
26:5230 points and then i was a hero again right yeah so really just it's really just working on yourself
26:58because one thing i learned is the thing you think in your head that people think about you is really it's
27:02really not true it's in your head right it's just in your head yeah yeah and i let me jump in there
27:06too as well and eve knows this knows this about me um i'm a host now and you all have i've been here
27:12with you all eSuite for three years as a host and i'm an actor as well but i used to be a corporate
27:17executive also and so you know going from that to you know that that part where i literally sent out
27:24an email i think eaves was probably on it where i was like hey y'all i want to be an actor i know
27:29i've been an executive all this time but i want to be an actor in front of the camera so it was
27:34just jumping out there on faith right and saying this is what i am this is what i want to do speaking
27:39about passion we were talking about earlier and you know people the perception listen y'all know me
27:45as a host don't you yeah is that the perception that's what they know now that's what you know now
27:50that i'm an actor that i'm a host but i had a whole corporate career so people will believe what you
27:55show them what you tell them how you show up that's so true yeah and get out of your own mind
28:00get out of your own mind yeah and don't put yourself in a box don't allow anyone else to
28:07right you can do and be whatever you want to be you can pivot that's life i mean look at look up here
28:12life is a pivot they just told you how many different your executive producer you know back like there's
28:17just there's levels to you and i think one thing i want to say i'm sorry to jump in one thing i want to
28:22say use your gifts as a platform you don't have to just be that person she has played basketball
28:30since she's eight years old but now she's doing something different but that gift as a basketball
28:36player is what's given her the platform to now do all these other amazing talents that are also within
28:42so i just want to say that i'm sorry go ahead no don't you don't create those doubts in your own
28:48head right like once you give those things power they fester it becomes like this bigger mountain
28:55of things sometimes you've got to sit back and breathe that's good and let it work and let things
29:00let the chips fall where they may let things work out but the more you feed that doubt internally it's
29:06gonna it's gonna be that monkey on your back you gotta sometimes just take step away take take a breather
29:11and then come back yeah yeah and we had a two-part question right what's number two so this is the
29:18last one i think it can really help us all in the room um i used to work in career pathways so work
29:24with employers to help them discern what is the pathway from entry level to mid management and a lot of
29:32times what we get is the skill set that i learned in my resume is not even what i use every day so i'm
29:38curious to know from each of you two-part what is the skill set that you know helps you get the job
29:44done but you didn't necessarily put that on your resume but this is what you do this is what you use
29:49to get your job done and what is that skill set that we should be honing to have on our resume so when
29:54we put it in to be looked at it gets noticed that's a good question question i'll jump in um i think it's
30:04always important to do those things that are not that don't go on the resume right so i'm a host i
30:08show up and i host right but really i think that my purpose is to have a genuine heart-to-heart connection
30:15with my audience with the people that are here with the people that are on stage right so that's what
30:19i'm always trying to do now that i don't write on the resume that's not in my bio but that's really
30:25what i want to do i just want to connect i want to empower i want to inspire right and and and it's
30:30things like that too you know that that you you don't write on the resume yeah that that's the job
30:42oh that's a good question yeah yeah yeah um let's circle back on that one let me let me think about
30:50that i'm like i don't know if there's one thing but go ahead angel no i'm actually still processing
30:54that question but i would say like because you're saying what's on the resume and they're like
30:58like we want right
31:08ah okay yes so that actually is very specific when you're talking about resume it's very specific to
31:14what you do um and they're actually coaches here we have the c-suite coaches who are here who can work
31:20on work work with you one-on-one on on things like that right so it's very specific about what you've
31:25actually done in your past career and you know how you want to move forward it's a it's a very specific
31:31thing that it's good to work with a resume or a career coach on something like that did anyone else
31:37want to address that question i'll jump in i think as an agent at the end of the day i'm in the business
31:43of service right whether it's serving a client whether it's serving um a buyer um that's all service in
31:50terms of how you do that job right how you negotiate how you show up how detail orientated you are like
31:57all those things um and i think that if you don't think about it in that way it gets the lines get
32:05blurry you don't know what you should be doing versus what you shouldn't you don't know how hard to
32:10fight or when to pull back um so i think once you sort of settle in that and you know that that's the role
32:16of service what the service entail right it's going to be different from person to person but if you're
32:22committed to service you're going to figure what that is and you have to give people you have to meet
32:28people where they are in that in that sense you can't just i can't do something for migos that i'm
32:34going to do for city girls that i'm going to do for yachty that just doesn't work right those are all
32:38different individual acts so i have to figure out what each client wants and how they want it and be
32:43able to give it to them and my ego can't be in the way of i don't do that if i want that client to
32:49be happy if i want to keep that client you're going to do from a to z all you need to do it in
32:54between and you have to sort of realize that and settle in on that that's good everything do you
32:59want did you want to jump in atoia you know i was going to say being to your point of being specific
33:05on what exactly you're doing so on one resume you might write something completely different you
33:10know you have your basics that you're going to always have but that job might want something
33:15specific so you have to kind of cater to what it is they're looking for and what attributes you have
33:20that contribute right so for each one just really pay attention to what they're looking for really
33:24pay attention to the fine details because i think when you write those things then if they see that
33:29on their that's part of their checklist whereas at another job they might be looking for something
33:33to your point of skill specific where you're like okay well i can do that and that but the rest of it
33:38i can learn like you said you learn when you get there so paying attention to the the small
33:44i think that's the fine details and then when you get i feel like don't you that's like when you get
33:48in a room and you talk to someone and you connect with them they kind of see who you are you know
33:53when you have those interviews they're like okay i like her drive i like her energy you know i could
33:58she's a great listener so that that's why they have the one-on-one interviews because they want to see
34:02what type of personality you possess yeah thank you and and we do have to wrap but something that you
34:07said earlier angel that i want to um bring up again is britney griner right we need to bring
34:13britney griner home um just yeah absolutely please clap for that please sign the petition is there i
34:20don't know are there other ways that we can do that you know of angel yeah get involved you can definitely
34:26sign the petition um any way you can support you can go on the wba.com website i know we're all donating
34:31uh britney griner has a foundation where she would give shoes uh to people less fortunate so we've all
34:37participated and donated shoes to her organization um you guys can help out with that in so many ways
34:44but i think the main thing let's just keep her in prayer so we can get her over here because like
34:48i said i played in russia many times we've crossed those borders i still have my russian visa yeah and
34:53it was never a problem they know us they know we play basketball they know we're tall black women
34:57coming up in those borders so i do think it's um some other things going on maybe for politics and the
35:02timing right of the situation absolutely yeah let's just keep her in prayer so we can get her back over
35:07here yeah because if the one thing about britney griner she's a big teddy bear um she's one of my
35:13really close friends and she if she was in here now she would have everybody laughing the whole time
35:17that's her personality so i can only imagine what the condition she's going through and her mental right
35:21now so let's please keep her in prayer absolutely and with that i want to thank you all for your time
35:27such great information let's give them a round of applause
