00:00Yesterday, by first, putting that car on the provisional pole, Alain Prost, and then John, at about 3.13 in the afternoon, announcing his retirement. Alain Prost.
00:11Well, I think to everybody in Estrell, it came as a great shock, and probably as much to do with the fact of the timing of the announcement as much as the announcement itself, because Alain said in his speech that he, after four World Championship victories, of course, he still has to achieve that, but that's more a matter of course than anything else.
00:33And he decided that, in fact, a month ago, he would stop at the end of this year, in which he returned from having had a year off already, and personally, I think it's a great shame that a man of Alain Prost's stature in Grumpy Racing should retire, when really he has not reached, if you like, his shelf limit.
00:52But that's his decision, and, of course, then speculation immediately began as to who would be replacing Alain Prost at Williams, and there is still no word as yet from Williams or for those potential contenders, but as somebody said in the pit lane, after Alain Prost's announcement, you don't have to be Einstein to work out that Ayrton Senna may well be moving from McLaren to Williams for 1994.
01:15Ayrton Senna currently in third position, behind Alain Prost's teammate Damon Hill, then it's Mika Hakkinen in fourth, having his first race of the season, and his first race for the McLaren team, then fifth, Michael Schumacher, sixth, Jean Alessi, seventh, Gerhard Berger, eighth, Ricardo Patrese, ninth, Mark Blondel, and in tenth position, Martin Brundel, and that is the top ten from yesterday,
01:44while we are watching Carl Wendlinger, the man who was actually quickest down the straight this morning, and that new Sauer engine, John, is very fast indeed.
01:57Well, certainly impressive straight line speed from the Sauer team, and if you look at the rear wing, they're not carrying a tiny amount of rear wing either.
02:06So indications that the power from the Ilmore, the 93 Ilmore V10 engine, which is exclusive to the Sauer team, is obviously pretty powerful indeed.
02:16In fact, I've always believed the Ilmore V10 engine was one of the, if not the most underrated engine in Grand Prix use, and it's really, I think, since Sauer had use and access and exclusivity of this new engine, the true potential of this firm is being realized.
02:33Carl Wendlinger, a 1.15.305, and that is 0.3 of a second slow.
02:38Carl Wendlinger, a 1.15.30, and that is a new substitute for the rising speed for the first time I wanted to take advantage of the app.
