00:19Well Gerhard Berger had a pretty awful season so far at Ferrari and
00:24well he's certainly not giving up and
00:28again the confidence, the commitment that is so necessary
00:33through that long sequence of rights and lefts.
00:36Berger looking very good, he's very clean so far on the lap.
00:39No excessive use of kerbs and we know Gerhard,
00:42and look at that, 0.5 of a second faster than Alain Proust.
00:45And we know that Gerhard just going back to the fact how fond he is
00:49of making contact with the kerbs, staying way, way off them here at Suzuka.
00:54Now can he carry the speed all through the lap?
00:59And Gerhard had another experience of Suzuka on Thursday ahead, John.
01:05Well that's a little bit of an unspoken rumour but we understand he was a passenger
01:09in a road car that was being driven round the circuit.
01:12And for some reason or other there was a minor incident and I'm sure Gerhard thought
01:18well again look just get back to the issue in hand.
01:21He's lost virtually half a second over Proust's time, 17.6.
01:25But it's still quicker.
01:27But it's interesting that it is in the spoon corner and then down the straight
01:33that is where Proust and Williams are particularly strong.
01:36Proust's time on the right and Gerhard Berger has taken it away.
01:40He is provisionally on pole and Alain Proust,
01:43well a little smile he thinks, oh my good friend Gerhard, he's done it.
01:47How good for Gerhard, I'm very happy for him.
01:49But just you wait until I get back into my car, I will show him who's the quickest here at Suzuka.
