00:40which one i'm talking about i'm talking two of the best teams in professional football going head
00:46to head for the championship trophy of all championship trophies and of course i'm talking
00:52about one of the most highly anticipated halftime shows in the big games history with the one and
00:58only rihanna getting ready to fire up the stage as only she can plus you know this wouldn't be
01:05essence black woman in sports if we didn't shine a deserving spotlight on some amazing black women
01:12who are truly doing their thing specifically we'll be taking a quick look at the journeys of nicole
01:18lynn and colette v smith two game changers who have broken barriers by becoming the first
01:24and their areas of leadership with the pro football space all right we're gonna get this thing rolling
01:32with some help from my girl wazam super aka super scent y'all know she'd be throwing down in the kitchen
01:40and right now she's gonna get you some recipes that you could try for the big game
01:45and i want y'all to try my favorite dish to make on game day and that is my famous
01:54new orleans jambalaya pasta
01:56first we're gonna boil our pasta make sure y'all put salt in that pot and stop using that oil thank you
02:06okay so this is a very easy recipe let's get into these ingredients we got red and yellow bell pepper
02:11parmesan cheese diced tomatoes heavy whipping cream fresh peeled shrimp and dewey sausage chicken breast
02:18minced garlic fresh chopped parsley butter and if you're from new orleans you already know what this
02:25cajun seasoning is i don't know about you but i break my spaghetti in half and put it in a boiling water
02:29i add a little more salt at the top because i do not want my spaghetti to stick please do not use oil
02:35i'ma say it again do not use oil baby next i'm gonna season my shrimp with that new orleans cajun seasoning
02:41and i'm gonna massage that seasoning all up and through them shrimps
02:45you're gonna do the same thing with your chicken massage that seasoning all up and through it
02:50the only meat i will not be seasoning is the sausage because and dewey already have its own cajun spices
02:55now let's butter our pan and then we're gonna drop in our vegetables and let that saute down
03:00next we're gonna add in our andouille sausage i want to saute the sausage all the way down because
03:05i like when it be crispy on the edges they look really good inside the pasta in a separate pan i'm
03:10sauteing my shrimp and my chicken together i don't know why i rather saute my peppers and my sausage
03:15together but to each is the only one saute it all together that's fine too as you see my sausage is
03:22crispy my peppers are sauteed all the way down i'm now going to add the chicken and shrimp to this pot
03:27next let's throw in our diced tomatoes stir in your diced tomato with your meat up real good you
03:33want that real jambalaya flavor now this is all stirred up we're gonna sit this to the side and
03:38we're gonna start on our yes alfredo sauce we want that creamy jambalaya cajun pasta now the alfredo
03:46sauce is real easy add your butter to the hot pan after that add your minced garlic let that garlic
03:51sizzle after that adding your heavy whipping cream once that heavy whipping cream start bubbling add in
03:56that parmesan cheese whisk until you can't whisk no more then add in some more parmesan cheese add as
04:02much parmesan cheese as you like but don't forget to add your cajun seasoning to the alfredo sauce too
04:07because you want that flavor remember it is cajun jambalaya pasta you need that flavor and boom your
04:13alfredo is done it's cheesed up it's seasoned down now it's time to add the rest of your food
04:18add your noodles to your alfredo sauce then add your cajun jambalaya mix to your alfredo sauce as well
04:24make sure you put your fire on simmer while you stir all this together this is how your pasta should
04:30look once everything is stirred do not forget to top it off with your fresh parsley i hope you guys
04:35enjoyed this recipe i've been making this for years and i enjoy it every time so flavorful so cajun make
04:42sure you enjoy this recipe happy game day damn that got my stomach growling already shout out to super
04:50100% now we're going to check out a few drink recipes here at vandal in new orleans we got our expert
04:57mixologist eve marie heidel here who's going to hook us up with some ideas for the big game day party with a
05:05little help from our friends at coca-cola zero sugar hey eve well hello welcome welcome to nola it's popping so today we got two
05:16cocktails i have a mocktail okay which is uh alcohol free spirit free and then we have our cocktail so
05:23the first one is called the pineapple kicker so we have a lot of fresh ingredients here to start our um
05:28our mocktail off with so we have our lime juice we have pineapple juice we have some simple syrup that
05:35you can make at home or buy in the store as a sugar and water mix and we have cream of coconut and then
05:40we're going to top it off with our coke zero sugar which makes everything better right i love it so
05:47if you want to go ahead and get started yeah save some weight you know what i mean that that sound
05:51like you're already putting me on my diet right there come on all right i got some fresh lime juice
05:56so i got a half ounce of that i love that yes yes yes we're gonna put a whole ounce of pineapple
06:02because i love the pineapple flavor all right and then we're gonna sweeten it up with some simple syrup
06:07where is the liquor well you know sometimes you don't need that to have a good time oh gotcha
06:12you understand you're right i'm not supposed to be drinking i don't drink my tails are a big thing
06:17now so you know you got to be ready for those that are trying to watch their calories or even just
06:22just you know um just be mindful of their intake so it's like you get pulled over and still go to jail
06:28without the rush of being drunk i got you i put all the ingredients in our shaker and i'm gonna give it a
06:34nice vigorous cake so i can blend all of the ingredients together all right now you see i'm
06:46excited yeah pour that over uh ice and so we'll put in a nice fancy glass of when people drink their
06:51mocktail they think it's a cocktail-esque so you make you feel fancy and then we're going to float our
06:56coke zero uh sugar on top so give it a little contrast splash oh yeah black history month there
07:04we go look at that i see and we'll garnish it with a fresh fresh lime i like that it looks very sexy
07:13refreshing cocktail so we we serve it this way but you might want to mix it up and give it a try i want
07:20to try it just like you um delicious good i might have to take you with me you're not missing the
07:29spirit are you no not at all not at all i didn't need it this is delicious so now i might i might have
07:36to get a little spirit i need a little i might need a little spirit you're gonna join me now yeah i
07:43might have to i might have to join you so we're gonna put this on a rock glass okay i'm gonna fill
07:48out a rock glass with ice and i'll shake your tin back up this reminds me of uh what's like white
07:57russian not white russian uh like a mojito-esque type i was going for yeah what was what was the uh
08:05is it my no it's not my time anyway go ahead it's similar though you get yeah yeah the pineapple
08:11a lot of uh that's that's what it feels like it tastes a combination of all of those kind of tiki-ish
08:16kind of beach drinks but very delicious fun for um you know just fun for the family and fresh flavors
08:23and bold flavors so to play with your the coke zero sugar to settle settle that then settle that in
08:28um so we're going to go in and make our our cocktail now which is called the kokomo um so we're going
08:36to use our fresh lime juice again so do a half ounce of that and here we're going to use some mint syrup
08:43so we i made this mint syrup by hand you just take your fresh mint leaves you boil those in water you
08:49bring it up to boil like your steven tea and then add your sugar in and then you have a fresh herbaceous
08:55simple syrup instead of just flat regular simple syrup so that's a good way to infuse your cocktails
09:00is to make your own kind of syrup at home i love it yep so we're going to do an ounce of uh mint syrup
09:08we're going to add a little coconut in again
09:14all right and this time we add a little spirit so you can do a dark rum or whatever you like to
09:19ah you like to you know god darn well i ain't supposed to be drinking
09:24this is what you want to do while we on camera well you know
09:31we're not going to make it to the super ball party
09:35you know game day some people like to to get a little flare and you know get excitement in so
09:40you know you got to have something for everyone i believe i can give that a shake and we're going
09:44to pour that over our ice and our rock glass all right and again we're going to top it with our coke zero
09:51sugar it's a little floater splash and since this one has our mint syrup in it we're going to take
09:58our fresh mint leaves give them a little pop to open up the uh mint essence when you hit the glass
10:04now now what does that do so it opens up the mint oh so you can uh just the flavor so the oil of the
10:10mint yeah you smack you smack the mint you smell it right here that's okay i'm gonna smack it can i can
10:15i smell it again i want to smack it it's a different smack it is yeah it's a different smell so that's
10:20what you do very minty there you go so we love mint in the south down here in the south because that's
10:26what we grew so i like to infuse mint with everything that i do because it's so abundant
10:31that's something we used to do you know pick our mint and make our mint jewelers but um yeah so here's
10:36our our kokomo all right i'm gonna go ahead and try that one for you yeah you do it for me cheers
10:44cheers to the big game smells delicious and it is delicious make sure you guys try out those essence
10:51eats drinks recipes and share the final product using that essence b w is hashtag to let us know how

24:01you we want you to write the roman numerals for 57. can you handle that i think together yeah together
24:09we can no who uses roman numerals anymore this was not on the degree i know you tried really good
24:20that was her it looks more like a tally it's gonna be louboutin it could be las vegas you know what i'm
24:26saying times two that is correct you are the only person who got it right what is a tight end a a person
24:35with a great behind b an offensive end who lines up close to the tackle or c when the player passes
24:43or hands off the ball it's called a tight end b but it usually comes with a b person on the offense
24:51that lines up next to the tackle b that's correct you got it right yes you know your football next
24:58question how many minutes is in each football quarter oh my gosh is it a 20 minutes b 15 minutes or c 10
25:07minutes 10 minutes a 20 minutes you said that with confidence you are wrong it's 15 b 15 minutes that

26:06keeping those game day and halftime show reactions coming on social media it's looking good right now so
26:12you know what we got to do keep it going for anybody who might have missed it before the hashtag
26:18for today is essence bwis and of course make sure you tune in to our post game recap here tomorrow
26:29to see if your post made the cut now another one of the dopest things about today is the fact that we
26:36got two black quarterbacks going head to head in the big game for the first time ever here to talk
26:44about the history making significance of this moment is sportscaster maria taylor hi everyone it's maria
26:53taylor here and i am so excited to go and witness in person at phoenix arizona the history being made of
27:01having two black quarterbacks competing against one another in the big game i mean if you think about
27:07the quarterback position and the professional league that it's played in it's been difficult for
27:12black men to break through what seemed like a glass ceiling for many years in fact it was just 35 years
27:19ago when the very first black quarterback won a big game and he actually went on to be a super
27:27big leader in the community he's also leading the league right now still very a part of it and one
27:33thing that we know for sure is that men have been working tirelessly players have been working tirelessly
27:39to have an opportunity to make history that we're going to see made on sunday i do believe that it's
27:44something that our young children young boys should sit down and watch and that their parents should
27:49talk to them about because there was a time when that position the quarterback position was not able to
27:54be held by black men it was believed that maybe they weren't smart enough maybe they weren't leaders
27:59maybe they didn't deserve to hold that position because the quarterback position is held to such
28:04a high esteem it's often the team captain it's often the second coach who's on the field and black men were
28:11basically relegated to other positions throughout the league and throughout the field and it's great to
28:17see for the first time these two quarterbacks being able to compete i know that i'm actually making a
28:21special trip out to phoenix just to be there i'm going to stay watch the entire game on sunday
28:27i want to be able to go back and tell my kids and my grandkids that i was there when history was
28:32made and i hope you understand just how important and monumental this moment is and that we all get
28:39an opportunity to cherish it on sunday
28:51man that is crazy okay shout out to those two quarterbacks getting ready to make history today
29:00we're proud of y'all real talk real real talk okay now let's meet our second essence black woman in
29:07sports honoree of the day nicole lynn back again to tell us a little bit about her journey here's
29:13l duncan okay so if we're talking about black women who are shaking things up in the sports world who
29:20are being disruptors who are representing us in places that we have not existed nicole lynn is that
29:28woman she defines sort of the next generation of what sports can be for our young black girls she is
29:35barely 10 years in and she's already risen to become one of the most respected sought after
29:41sports agents in the industry which is not a surprise to any black woman because we get done
29:47that's what we do and not only does she represent back-to-back top 10 picks in the pro football draft
29:52she's also got a couple of firsts under her belt that are relevant to this weekend alone i have no doubt
29:59that it's the first of many and not for nothing in my head she's also like one of my best friends
30:06so she has that going for her too nicole here's a little bit more about nicole lynn and her journey
30:13enjoy over the past decade the name nicole lynn has become synonymous with excellence in the sports
30:21world and it's not hard to see why after building a thriving career as a wall street financial analyst
30:26in 2015 nicole became the first female sports agent to represent top u.s professional football
30:32agency players rep which is currently owned by grammy winning rapper lil wayne's young money
30:37apaa sports agency one of the youngest female sports agents in the industry and one of less than 50 female
30:44agents in american professional football today nicole signed her first client at just 26 years old
30:49her current client roster includes a ballerina from the prestigious american ballet theater
30:53a decorated u.s softball star and a host of professional football players from across several
30:58top u.s teams including a top player who will be taking the field for philadelphia during the big game
31:03in 2019 nicole made headlines as the first black woman to represent a top three pick in the professional
31:08football draft in addition to catapulting the careers of your future favorite athletes she is also
31:14leading the way as the current president of football operations at clutch sports group and having a
31:18little fun as the creator and host of the heels on the field digital series the series breaks down
31:24the ins and outs of sports for anyone who is eager to learn a proud tulsa native and proud graduate of
31:29the university of oklahoma nicole says the adversity she faced as a child helped shape her drive and
31:35mindset as an adult congratulations to the 2023 essence black women in sports head agent in charge award
31:41recipient the incomparable nicole thank you asset so much for this award i do not take moments like
31:48this for granted it's so special to be recognized by such an incredible community of black women who
31:53continue to raise the bar across multiple industries as black women in this space specifically in sports
