03:40Who can really talk about what's happening in the company
03:44And certainly at Disney Parks
03:45But let's take a look at some of the new shows that are happening
03:50And what's happening

04:56But you're actually making changes at the table

05:02Let me tell you, Sade, how thankful I am to be here

05:07Representing Disney at the Essence Festival
05:10I just, I'm filled with joy
05:13As I think about having a seat at the table
05:15Having influence
05:16It is just so important for us to be seen
05:20And so that further fills me with joy
05:23And has me thinking about what Celebrate Soulfully is all about
05:26Representing us
05:27And let's talk about that
05:29Because I don't think a lot of people realize that
05:31Is that at the parks
05:33We can see us
05:35And it's all about the behind story
05:38I guess, how do you want to call it
05:40Behind the scenes of
05:42Behind the scenes magic, yes
05:44Every day we make magic
05:46And it's made up of all of the cast
05:48The community, our guests
05:50That all help bring that magic forward
05:52And that represents what Disney is
05:54And so as we think about things like
05:56At Walt Disney World today
05:58We have this program called Celebrate Soulfully
06:01Which is much more than a program
06:02It's about an expression of joy
06:04It's that expression that comes when you see yourself
06:07Whether it's in Princess Tiana
06:09When you see your family
06:11When you see others that look like you
06:13In the space
06:15That is what Celebrate Soulfully is all about
06:18It is a celebration of us
06:19And honor of our culture
06:22Through food and music
06:24And art and experiences
06:26It's through the characters
06:28Like Tiana, for example
06:30When you see that little girl seeing herself
06:31I was just going to say that
06:32That was a big deal
06:33It's a big deal
06:34Because I remember growing up
06:35I'm not going to date myself
06:36But, you know, you saw Cinderella
06:38But Cinderella didn't look like me
06:41You know
06:41And one little girl wants to be a little princess
06:44Right

06:45But now, when that little brown girl looks up
06:50And is able to see herself
06:51But it's really those small things that matter
06:54Talk about that
06:56Yeah, those small things matter
06:57As much as the big things, right
06:59You want to feel like you belong
07:01And part of belonging
07:03Is seeing people who look like you
07:05People where you're at home
07:07And you feel like
07:08Oh, this food is authentic to what I know
07:11It's about the experiences there
07:13So as we think about
07:14The programs and the experiences
07:17That we're bringing
07:18We're wanting to make sure
07:20That we show up
07:21And what you were talking about
07:23What people may not realize
07:24Is that you actually have soul food
07:26At some of the parks
07:27Where you didn't find that before

07:36We're all about bringing more

07:49And how did you figure out

07:58Is a cross-property experience
08:01So the first thing was
08:02Making sure that it felt
08:03Like it was everywhere
08:04It was about making sure
08:06That we understood
08:06Who we were
08:07And how we wanted to show up
08:09And so we show that
08:10Through food
08:11Through experiences
08:13You get your home-cooked
08:15Collard greens
08:15And black-eyed peas
08:17On the menu
08:18You see that
08:19Through Cooking with Soul
08:21Where you can find out
08:22Where to get those collard greens
08:24Yeah, I love some collard greens

08:27Made the best ones
08:28Maybe right behind my mom

08:34But it's more than that
08:35It's about the art
08:36And experiences as well

09:00We actually bring forward
09:02Art and exhibits
09:03In a number of different ways
09:04So one through education
09:06So Soul of Jazz
09:08Is an exhibit at Epcot
09:10That our Walt Disney Imagineers
09:12Crafted
09:12To showcase the beauty
09:15The contribution
09:16The leadership
09:17That black Americans have had
09:19In creating jazz
09:20And the music that we know today
09:22That is one component
09:24The second is through artists
09:26Black artists
09:27And visionaries
09:28So like Everett Spruill
09:30A local Orlandian
09:32As I could say
09:33Who's known for old school jazz
09:36And blues creator
09:37He has work represented
09:41At Disney Springs
09:42As part of our new art walk
09:43Along with Lacey Jordan
09:45Who is known for being
09:46Unapologetic
09:48In showcasing women of color
09:50In her work
09:51Showcasing her love
09:53Of that
09:54Of other parts of our culture
09:56In her work
09:57And she is also
09:59Represented as part of the art walk

10:37About celebrate soulfully
10:38Because it answers this question
10:39How do we bring
10:40Every element of our culture
10:42To Disney theme parks
10:43And so we talk about art
10:45We talk about food and music
10:46But a key aspect of our culture
10:49Is giving back
10:50It's community investment
10:52And there's a particular aspect
10:54Of our community
10:54That can't get lost
10:56In this conversation
10:57And it's our black youth
10:58So for 15 years
11:00And you've got the Disney dreamers
11:0115 years
11:02Absolutely

11:02For 15 years
11:03Disney has been committed
11:04To the Disney dreamers academy
11:06Which is a four day experience
11:08For high school age youth
11:1013 to 19
11:11Where we bring 100 of them
11:13Each year to Walt Disney World
11:15For the purpose of inspiring them
11:16To pursue their career dreams
11:18And their life dreams
11:19That is really incredible
11:21Really important work
11:22That you're doing
11:23So how does it uniquely
11:25Celebrate black youth
11:27And invest
11:28And also invest
11:29In the black community
11:30What's unique about
11:31This investment in our community
11:32Number one
11:33Savon said it this way
11:34The key moment
11:36That you have with Disney
11:36Is the moment where you see yourself
11:38In the brand
11:39And when you come to Walt Disney World
11:41And see executives
11:42Who look like you
11:43Who have come through your story
11:44Who are telling you
11:45About how they started their journey
11:46With the Walt Disney Company
11:48That does something
11:50To ignite your journey
11:51Also connecting with other
11:52High school age youth
11:53Who are passionate about their dreams
11:55But we also partner
11:57With other institutions
11:58And organizations
11:59Who are serving our black youth
12:01In this age group as well
12:02And I can attest
12:03That one of the biggest ways
12:04It invests in high school age youth
12:06Is because we don't just serve you
12:08For those four days
12:08That you're at Walt Disney World
12:10D.D.A. changes your life
12:11And starts your career
12:12And I know that to be true
12:14Because that's what it did for me
12:15I was 16 years old
12:17When I was a Disney dreamer
12:18And went through the program
12:19In 2011
12:20You're kidding me
12:21And I have had the privilege
12:22To go from being a Disney dreamer
12:24To now being a full-time
12:26Disney cast member
12:27And I get to reach back
12:28And help the next generation
12:29And do incredible things
12:31Like be here at S.S.S.S.
12:32That's fantastic
12:33Congratulations
12:33What a story
12:34See, you know
12:36I think it just proves
12:37That these programs matter
12:39They really do
12:40And it's not just about
12:42Addressing now
12:43But it's also
12:44It's also helping all of those
12:47Come along into the future

13:07Pushing beyond their boundaries
13:08Can you tell us just about
13:10Your personal journey?
13:11Oh, goodness
13:12You know, every day
13:15When I come into work
13:17And by coming to work
13:18I don't mean just coming
13:19Into the office
13:20Just going into a park
13:22Or
13:23And going into a resort
13:25And seeing a little girl
13:26Actually, that's one of the things
13:28I filmed one day
13:29Just on a tough day
13:31I walked into our theme park
13:33Magic Kingdom
13:34And I saw a little girl dancing
13:36And I was walking behind her
13:38And she just had so much joy
13:40In her step
13:41There was just no way
13:42Your day could continue
13:43To feel not so good
13:45And to see her look like me
13:48Have brown skin like me
13:49Just, I think, reflects
13:51Why I do the work I do
13:52With the team that is amazing
13:54That as I see team members
13:55Around this room
13:56As I look at Princeton
13:57That's the work that we do
13:59Is showing up for others
14:01And that to me
14:02Just fills me with so much pride
14:04Words cannot fully express that

14:07You gotta show up
14:08You gotta show up

14:10And you gotta make a difference
14:11Because, you know, it is a cliche

14:15But it's also about
