00:00Tears of joy from the father of a Ukrainian prisoner of war.
00:09Today, his son is coming home.
00:11These prisoner exchanges directly concern us.
00:16My child is at home today.
00:18I think this is one of the small steps in the negotiation.
00:24They're part of the 157 Ukrainians returning in a prisoner swap with Russia.
00:29An equal number of Russian POWs also went home as part of the exchange.
00:36It follows two days of U.S.-brokered talks in Abu Dhabi,
00:40the latest round of negotiations to end the nearly four-year war.
00:44In his nightly address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said
00:48the talks would now shift to the United States.
00:51But he stressed one condition.
00:53I can say that further meetings are planned, most likely in America,
00:58where we are ready to take part in any working formats which can lead to a sound and lasting peace,
01:03a peace that deprives Russia of its appetite to pursue war fervor.
01:08It's important that this war ends in a way so as Russia is not rewarded for aggression.
01:13But as talks progress, so do Russian attacks, with drone strikes injuring two in Kyiv on Thursday.
01:22Back in Washington, officials weigh whether to maintain sanctions pressure.
01:26One official told Congress that existing oil sanctions brought Moscow to the table,
01:31but stopped short of committing to new measures.
01:34Can you commit to this Congress that you will take action to sanction Russia's shadow fleet?
01:39I will take it under consideration.
01:45We will see where the peace talks go.
01:49With negotiations now possibly to continue on U.S. soil, the pressure is on all sides to show results.
01:56For the families reunited Thursday, the wait is over.
02:00For those still waiting, it continues.
