00:00Senior US defence officials have arrived in Ukraine to discuss efforts to end the war with Russia.
00:06The team is expected to meet President Volodymyr Zelensky later today after his return from Turkey.
00:12The delegation is led by US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and Army Chief of Staff Randy George,
00:19making them the most senior US military officials to visit Ukraine since President Donald Trump took office in January.
00:26Washington said the pair are on a fact-finding mission for the administration.
00:32On Wednesday, Driscoll met Ukrainian Defence Minister Denis Shmaihal to discuss progress on a bilateral defence agreement.
00:40And Shmaihal welcomed a new US package worth about $105 million to support the Patriot air defence system.
00:49The visit comes amid reports that the US and Russia have privately exchanged proposals on a possible end to the war.
