00:00Hey everyone, welcome back to our channel.
00:03Today we're going on an adventure back in time to meet one of the wisest kings who ever lived.
00:08King Solomon, have you ever wished you could know the answer to every question?
00:12Well, that's almost what happened to him.
00:15Our story starts when Solomon was a young man and he had just become the king of Israel.
00:21Imagine being given that huge job.
00:23One night, God appeared to Solomon in a dream and said,
00:27Solomon, ask for whatever you want me to give you.
00:30Now, what would you ask for?
00:32A giant room full of toys?
00:34A lifetime supply of ice cream?
00:36Solomon could have asked for tons of gold or to be famous forever, but he didn't instead.
00:42He asked for something really special.
00:44He asked for wisdom.
00:45He said he wanted a wise and understanding heart so he could be a good and fair king for his people.
00:51God was so pleased with Solomon's unselfish wish because he didn't ask for riches or a long life.
00:59God not only gave him incredible wisdom, but also promised him riches and honor more than any other king.
01:06And wow, did God deliver.
01:08Solomon became famous all over the world for being super smart.
01:12People would travel for miles and miles just to hear his wise sayings and see if he could solve their tricky problems.
01:19One of the most famous stories about his wisdom is about two mothers who both claimed the same baby was theirs.
01:26They were arguing and couldn't agree.
01:29Solomon, in his wisdom, came up with a clever test.
01:33He said, bring me a sword.
01:35We'll divide the baby in two and each of you can have half.
01:38It sounds shocking, right?
01:40But Solomon knew what he was doing.
01:42The real mother cried out, no, please don't harm the baby.
01:46Give him to her instead.
01:47The other woman said, fine, divide him.
01:50And instantly, Solomon knew who the real mom was.
01:53He gave the baby to the woman who was willing to give him up to save his life.
01:58Everyone was amazed at his brilliant way of finding the truth.
02:02With this amazing wisdom from God, Solomon's kingdom became super successful.
02:07He built a magnificent temple for God in Jerusalem, a project that his father, King David, had dreamed of.
02:14It was one of the most beautiful buildings ever made, covered in gold and filled with incredible craftsmanship.
02:22It was a special place where people could come to worship God.
02:25The country was at peace and everyone had enough to eat.
02:29It seemed like a perfect fairy tale with a wise king and a happy kingdom.
02:34Solomon wrote thousands of wise sayings, called Proverbs, and many songs.
02:38We can still read his wise words today in the Bible, in books like Proverbs and Ecclesiastes.
02:45They teach us so much about life, friendship, and making good choices.
02:49Everything seemed perfect.
02:51Solomon had wisdom, wealth, and peace.
02:54But even the wisest person in the world can make mistakes if they don't keep their heart focused.
02:59On what's most important, and this is where our story takes a turn.
03:03As Solomon got older, he started to forget the one who gave him everything.
03:08God had given the people of Israel some very clear rules to help them stay safe and close to him.
03:14One of these rules was not to marry people from other lands who worshiped different gods.
03:20Why?
03:20Because God knew that it could lead them away from him.
03:23But Solomon, with all his wisdom, didn't listen.
03:27He married hundreds of wives, and many of them came from other countries.
03:31These wives brought their own statues and their own gods with them.
03:35And they wanted to worship them in Israel at first.
03:39Maybe Solomon thought it wouldn't be a big deal.
03:41He was the wise king Solomon.
03:43After all, he probably thought he could handle it.
03:46But slowly, little by little, to make his wives happy,
03:50he started to allow them to build altars to their false gods.
03:54And then the unthinkable happened.
03:56Solomon, the same king who built the glorious temple for the one true God,
04:00started to worship those idols himself.
04:03His heart, which was once fully devoted to God, became divided.
04:08He started to drift away from the source of all his wisdom and blessings.
04:12Can you imagine how sad this made God?
04:15God had given Solomon everything,
04:17and all he asked for in return was for Solomon to love and obey him.
04:22God even warned Solomon a couple of times, reminding him to turn back.
04:27But Solomon's heart had grown hard.
04:29He was so caught up in his wealth, his power,
04:32and trying to please all of his wives that he forgot the most important relationship of all.
04:37Because Solomon broke his promise to God, there were serious consequences.
04:42God told him that because he had turned away,
04:45the kingdom would be torn apart after he was gone.
04:48It wouldn't happen during his lifetime out of respect for his father David.
04:52But his son would not rule over the whole nation.
04:55The beautiful, unified kingdom that Solomon had built would be split in two.
05:00And that wasn't all.
05:01To pay for all his huge building projects and his luxurious lifestyle,
05:06Solomon had to make the people pay very high taxes and work very hard.
05:10The people who once celebrated their happy kingdom started to become unhappy and resentful.
05:15The peace and joy that marked the beginning of his reign started to fade away.
05:21The end of Solomon's life was not as bright and happy as the beginning.
05:25So, what can we learn from the amazing and kind of sad story of King Solomon?
05:30It's a huge lesson for all of us.
05:33It shows us that having knowledge, being smart, or even having amazing talents isn't enough.
05:39The most important thing is to keep our hearts loyal to God.
05:43Solomon had more wisdom than anyone, but when he stopped obeying God,
05:47that wisdom couldn't save him from making terrible choices.
05:51It's like having the best map in the world, but choosing not to follow it.
05:55His story is a powerful reminder to be careful about the little compromises.
05:59It didn't happen overnight.
06:01It was a slow fade.
06:02A little decision here.
06:04Another little compromise there.
06:06Until he was very far from where he started.
06:08He let outside influences pull his heart in the wrong direction.
06:12This teaches us to be vigilant, to guard our hearts,
06:16and make sure we are always putting God first in everything we do.
06:20Solomon's life is like a tale of two halves.
06:23The first half is a story of incredible blessing, wisdom, and success
06:27that came from asking God for the right thing and following him.
06:31The second half is a cautionary tale about the dangers of pride, disobedience,
06:37and letting our hearts drift away.
06:38Even at the end of his life, Solomon seemed to realize his mistakes in the book of Ecclesiastes,
06:45which many believe he wrote as an old man, he looks back on his life after trying everything.
06:51Wisdom, wealth, pleasure, he concludes that the only thing that truly matters is to fear God and keep.
06:58His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
07:01He learned the hard way that a life without God, no matter how full of other things, is ultimately empty.
07:08So, let's remember the story of King Solomon.
07:11Let's be inspired to ask God for wisdom.
07:14But let's also remember that true wisdom is shown through our obedience and love for him.
07:19Let's learn from both his triumphs and his failures.
