00:00Oh yeah
00:30hello good morning everyone my name is faith hunter and i am absolutely delighted to be able to
00:45be one of the presenters for the essence wellness house virtual summit i am a yoga and meditation
00:54instructor based in washington dc and today's meditation practice is all about helping you
01:02find this sense of grounding and connection
01:08we're going to pick up right where we started we have a couple of little technical difficulties
01:13but what i would like for you to do is to drop into your seat so come into a nice comfortable
01:21seat if you need to adjust in any way and we are going to start with a little breath of fire
01:29now the breathing practice breath of fire is all about helping you purify any distractions that may
01:36be in your mind it is a very heated and powerful breathing practice that will stimulate a little
01:46fire in the navel center in the belly and then that energy starts to flow up to the mind so that when
01:52we do drop into our meditation practice we're a little bit clearer we're a little bit more open
01:58and hopefully those elements of anxiety personal disruption discomfort will at least ease away right
02:08now in this moment so that your meditation can be a source of grounding healing and connection the
02:16things to remember is that with this breath of fire if you are pregnant if you're on a first couple of
02:22days of your moon cycle and if you have high blood pressure don't do this we're gonna do it for about 45
02:28seconds so i'll give you an example basically you're going to do a powerful inhale and a powerful exhale
02:35so it's going to go like this
02:42in and out of the nose the navel will pump in its own natural way so just allow it to flow and again
02:49don't do this if you are pregnant if you're in first couple of days of your moon cycle or if you
02:54have high blood pressure i just simply want you to breathe in and out of your nose let's begin close your eyes
03:05keep going keep forcing the breath in and out of your nose the eyes are closed and you're gazing right
03:20at your third eye
03:45breathe in
03:45breathe in hold the breath
03:53and exhale slowly empty out
04:01keeping the eyes closed and just simply observe and notice the sensations this particular breathing
04:08practice is great to do first thing in the morning as a way to awaken and stimulate
04:15everything within the body and it provides the sense of purification as well as focus
04:26notice any tingling in your hands your feet
04:30any sensations in the body
04:34take another breath in
04:35breathe in and exhale empty out
04:43sustain exactly where you are keeping the eyes closed
04:51and allow your breath now to flow naturally in and out of your nose
04:57slow breath in
05:05slow and easy long breath out
05:09gently breathe in
05:14and gently release out
05:15this is the breathing that we will take throughout our meditation
05:24the hands can rest wherever it's comfortable for you on your thighs and knees you can rest your hands
05:32in your lap in a nice cupped position even if you want to bring your hands to your heart center
05:39you can do that throughout our meditation as well
05:44finding that optimal place for your hands to rest
05:49allow your breath to slowly come in and out
05:52the breath is this powerful tool to support us in finding a sense of steadiness a sense of ease
06:08and i often like to think of the breath
06:10the breath as this house
06:17a lighthouse of sorts
06:25there's a constant element that supports our ability to be in the present moment
06:36it aids us in finding that place of comfort and stability
06:40so as you breathe in and breathe out during our practice this morning
06:52and if those thoughts start to drift into your mind
06:58i encourage you to come back to the breath
07:03come back to this place of steadiness and ease
07:06allow your breath to be that strong steady lighthouse that guides you back to your personal center
07:23as a thought comes in it drifts in the water past the lighthouse
07:28and on your exhale it floats away
07:35the practice of meditation is not about letting go or emptying your mind completely
07:46it is simply about
07:50making a personal connection to be in the now
07:53and when the thoughts come in
07:59you see it you acknowledge it and on the exhale you let it go
08:09slow breath in
08:12slow and easy breath out
08:16you breathe in
08:17and you breathe out
08:25gently breathe in
08:29gently breathe out
08:36and as you sit in stillness
08:38and as you breathe gently in and out
08:46i like for you to simply listen to my voice
08:52and i will guide you
08:55nurture you
08:57through this meditation
08:58we are living in a very uncertain time
09:14there are so many elements
09:18that continue to pull us
09:22and draw us away from our center
09:25our home our inner sanctum
09:38but the practice of meditation the acknowledgement and connection of the breath
09:47can aid us
09:50in returning
09:51to our center
09:56the center of who you are
10:00is rooted in a foundation
10:04of personal strength
10:10so i'd like for you to think about
10:15one element within yourself
10:19one quality
10:20that represents
10:26your truest most highest form
10:33it may be this element of ingenuity
10:37creativity
10:40intuitiveness
10:44groundedness connection
10:46wisdom
10:52deep love
10:54compassion
10:54understanding
10:56forgiveness
11:01strength
11:05resilience
11:06and i'd like for you to think about that quality
11:15allow it to surface to the front of your mind
11:22and as you think about that amazing quality that lives within you that is your guide
11:30that aids you in being your true divine self
11:44i'd like for you to see how you are utilizing that on a daily basis
11:51how you are using that element of that quality and character within yourself to
12:05maybe be in a place of self-care
12:07maybe supporting your family your friends
12:19maybe you're home and working
12:24and utilizing that quality within you
12:28you to be of support to staff and fellow co-workers
12:40but mostly
12:42as you see yourself
12:46as you visualize that divine quality that is your highest self
12:52i'd like for you also
13:01to see it as this element
13:04that is your guide
13:09that is your steady place
13:11and as you breathe in and out
13:18allow each breath
13:21to amplify that quality to enhance that highest character within you
13:31and may each breath feel you
13:34and give you more strength more steadiness more connection to your highest self
13:54so let's take a few more breaths in and out of your nose
13:59and allow each breath to expand and amplify that divine quality
14:12that lives within you
14:15and even if you find that there are multiple qualities rushing through your body your mind and your soul
14:23breathe feel and see yourself in action
14:31fully engaged in those qualities
14:36breathing in
14:39exhale
14:43deep breath in
14:47exhale
14:48exhale
15:01inhale
15:05exhale
15:09exhale
15:11exhale
15:13exhale
15:15exhale
16:47And out of your nose, feeling that sense of grounding and connection through the hips.
16:58The openness of your heart space and the clarity of your mind.
17:11In this moment, as the breath flows in and out, as your highest divine qualities have been amplified through conscious awareness,
17:30this is who you are.
17:38This is your center.
17:40This is the place that you return to, you come back to in those moments where you feel life pulling you away from who you rightfully are.
17:55Now I'd like for you to begin to think about how you can take these qualities and make a commitment to yourself.
18:16To be present.
18:23To breathe into your heart center, your strength, your power, your resilience, your ingenuity, your creativity, your divine wisdom.
18:41And make time to breathe into you every single day.
18:50And from that center, from that place of connection, I'd also like for you to make a personal commitment.
19:06to take time out to breathe with your partner, with your children and your family.
19:22For those that you love and care for.
19:29To utilize your center, your power, your strength, your ingenuity, your centered place of sacredness.
19:47To be that steady lighthouse for those around you.
19:56From when we are connected to our personal center, we have the ability to step out and be of service to others.
20:14And that simple act.
20:15And that simple act of this meditation and the breath and the connection that you've made with yourself this morning will serve as a divine connection and spread to others.
20:39Breathe in.
20:40Breathe in.
20:41Breathe out.
20:46All the chaotic thoughts may ripple through our mind each and every day.
20:55They may power to the surface.
21:00They may move along through those moments and times, but breath by breath, you have the
21:13capacity to hold space for yourself in an element of self-care, and you have the capacity
21:22to hold that same nurturing space for your family, your friends, and your community.
21:36With the connection of the breath, an element of equanimity floats within.
21:48Your body, your mind, your heart, and your soul are fueled by the power from within.
22:03And when those thoughts pass by your lighthouse, when they float by in an attempt to pull you
22:11away from your center, I invite you to breathe.
22:21Bring yourself back to the now.
22:26And settle into your present connection.
22:39Deep breath in.
22:45Easy breath out.
22:50Deep breath in.
22:56Easy breath out.
23:02Inhale.
23:07Exhale.
23:12Allow your breathing to return to normal.
23:21Notice any sensations that may be moving through your mind, any tingling in the body.
23:33And I invite you to remember where you are now.
23:43Remember the quality of grounding.
23:47Remember the sensation of inner balance and connection.
23:57When the world delivers those messages, know that you have the divine wisdom to sift through
24:07them.
24:11Return to your divine highest qualities and character.
24:24And be true to you.
24:30Slowly begin to open your eyes.
24:37Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes.
24:42Make any adjustments that you need to.
24:48So I want to say thank you very much for joining me this morning.
24:54Know that at any point in time, again, when you feel yourself being pulled away, when
25:00you feel frazzled, when you feel that sense of anxiety starting to ripple into you, pause,

25:19house that you've built through the practice of meditation.
