00:16Shortly after comes the Shahed drone as it flies overhead.
00:33Then a flurry of air defence as it's shot out of the sky.
00:39These are not merely sound effects, they're the building blocks of a new composition called the Shahed overture.
00:45Brought to life by enthusiastic conductor Serhii Naduži and his Harmonia Youth Orchestra outside Kyiv.
00:54For these young musicians, the sounds they perform are the sounds of their own lives.
01:01Maybe it's a cold water. It's so sad that we have to transmit it through music.
01:08We have to transmit it through all our feelings, everything that we feel in our daily lives, in our evenings.
01:17We all understood what we feel in the corner of Ukraine and what we feel.
01:22And we did it.
01:24The fear isn't just something they imagine, it's something they know all too well.
01:30The idea for the piece came naturally to composer Dmitry Kornienko.
