00:00Following the death of four-year-old Peter Maughan, Owen and Patrick Maughan have been
00:04charged with murder, and with the trial underway, new video evidence has been released, showing
00:09the day of the fatal crash.
00:10Owen is 27 and is marked with a purple arrow in the footage, while Patrick is the older
00:15man marked with a pink arrow.
00:17It begins with phone footage recorded in the Jolly Night pub in Rochester, showing Owen
00:21and Patrick drinking on the afternoon of June 1, 2025.
00:25Later, Owen is seen outside the city wall wine bar 45 minutes before the alleged murder,
00:31as well as more footage of the pair walking down Rochester High Street and returning to
00:35their vehicle.
00:37The court were also shown dashcam footage from three lorries on the A2, which starts at the
00:41junction with the A289 Wayne Scott bypass, showing what has been described as a chase, and the
00:46similar vehicle, with Lovell, Hayley, Peter and Anarika inside.
00:50Proceedings have also seen evidence filmed by Hayley Maughan on her phone, as she, her husband
00:54and their two children, were allegedly being chased by Owen and Patrick.
01:01The last piece of footage shows an exchange between Lovell, Owen and Patrick, where the
01:05car stopped at a roundabout at the end of the slip road off the A2 at Pepperhill.
01:13The courts heard how a few seconds after this footage, Lovell and Hayley's vehicle had been
01:17rammed.
01:18Currently, Owen, who's pictured here, has admitted to the charge of manslaughter, but
01:23denies the charge of murder.
01:25He also denies two offences of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent in
01:29relation to Anarika and Hayley.
01:31As well as three offences, including causing GBH with intent, inflicting GBH and causing
01:36serious injury by dangerous driving, all in relation to Lovell.
01:40Owen Mourne also denies causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Lovell, as well as the
01:44two offences of attempting to cause GBH with intent to Anarika and Hayley.
01:49He has, however, admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving and inflicting GBH to
01:54Lovell as the trial continues.
