00:00Lately, food prices have had Americans thinking twice about that pint and name brand ice cream and double checking their bank accounts when they head to the grocery store.
00:10So it's no wonder that the new creme de la creme of supermarkets is one with a focus on affordability.
00:16The new king of the produce aisle and the frozen food section in the snack aisle is, drumroll please, Trader Joe's.
00:23The grocer, known for its affordability, viral tote bags and exceptionally friendly staff, bested the grocery store competition, moving past Publix, with whom it shared last year's prize.
00:33More than 30,000 Americans actually voted in this to crowned King TJ's.
00:39This is a bit of a David beating Goliath story, too.
00:42Trader Joe's sports just 600 stores across 43 states compared to Publix's more than 1,400 stores.
00:50The list is based on satisfaction scores.
00:53Trader Joe's popped two points from 84 to 86 in the last year.
00:57Publix stayed steady at 84 and rounding out the top three was HEB, a Texas-based chain with more than 435 stores.
01:05So a big congratulations to Joe.
