00:00The victims of Epstein have lived with trauma that most of us can barely comprehend.
00:08And they've had to relive it again and again.
00:14They have seen accountability delayed and too often denied.
00:19To them, I want to say this.
00:25I am sorry.
00:27Sorry for what was done to you.
00:32Sorry that so many people with power failed you.
00:36Sorry for having believed Mandelson's lies and appointed them.
00:42And sorry that even now, you're forced to watch this story unfold in public once again.
00:50But I also want to say this.
00:53In this country, we will not look away.
00:57We will not shrug our shoulders.
00:59And we will not allow the powerful to treat justice as optional.
01:06We will pursue the truth.
01:08We will uphold the integrity of public life.
01:10And we will do everything within our power and in the interest of justice to ensure accountability is delivered.
01:19That is what the public expects.
01:24That is what the victims deserve.
01:27And it is what I will do.
01:39Thank you, sir.
