00:01I'm Evelyn, and in this video, we are going to transform into our best Halloween selves.
00:08We partnered with Jasmine Amazing, AKA Gothish Jasmine, to make this video.
00:14She is a makeup artist and costumer, and she is going to transform me into a mermaid.
00:22I wanted to be a mermaid, because I want to be glamorous and beautiful, but otherworldly,
00:30you know what I'm saying, like I'm not a human.
00:33So I think she's going to give me glittery, you know, shiny scales, I'm going to get weaved
00:38up or wigged up, and I think I'm going to ask her to give me a fish hook, because somebody
00:48caught me.
00:49Alright, it's going to get real dark, real fast, for my costume.
00:52I'm ready!
00:53Yay!
00:54What do we do first?
00:55Okay, first we're going to prep your face.
00:57This is Mara Badescu of Rosewater.
01:03We're going to be putting a lot of body paint on you.
01:11So right now what we're doing is creating a base, foundation, concealer, what is this
01:20called?
01:21Just setting powder.
01:22Setting powder, and that will prep my face for the body paint.
01:27Yeah.
01:28So now I'm just using a sponge, and we're going to add white.
01:30Oh man.
01:31So white is going to act as our base, so that we can make sure we have a really great shading,
01:37yes, and gradient.
01:38Like I know your foundation's brown, but the white paint actually sticks better to foundation
01:43in your natural skin.
01:44So how did you choose the color scheme for this particular mermaid?
01:53Oh, I won't get it.
01:56When I asked you and you didn't know, I started thinking of the sunset.
02:02Okay.
02:03So this net is really affordable, but you want to use the bigger one first so you can get
02:09some cool detail.
02:14Okay, so now we've actually put in about three different colors of orange and a little bit
02:22of red, and now I'm about to go through with some purple to give it a really good sunset look.
02:27All right, so we're going to reveal what it looks like.
02:33Normally we want it more defined, but you can kind of see it right here in the middle.
02:36You see the yellow through it.
02:37So what I'm going to go through now is with the smaller brush, go ahead and add a little
02:42bit of those lighter lines in between to make sure that they're standing up.
02:48Now put it down to your chin.
02:50All right.
02:51So now we're taking the scale effect with the smaller one.
02:55So it's a lot, but this is the technique that you see the most online.
03:02All right.
03:07So now we have an even smaller effect to go along with the bigger ones.
03:12So it just gets more depth.
03:14And yeah.
03:15So once we start layering on the pearls and glitter and stuff, this is going to be fire.
03:20Yeah.
03:21Okay.
03:22All right.
03:23So we're just going to add some primer in key places.
03:36And the primer will help the glitter stick.
03:39Mm-hmm.
03:40Yes.
03:41Glitter.
03:42Yes.
03:43Because how can we be a mermaid lover, right?
03:46Because mermaids are like a little bit luxurious glittering places where humans don't deserve glitter.
03:58Mm-hmm.
03:59So now we have a little flakiness.
04:13It's like iridescent little pieces of seaweed now.
04:15Some rhinestones.
04:16Yes.
04:17You're ready for this too.
04:18Yes.
04:19I'm going to add some small particles now.
04:24Yes.
04:25Because I live in the sea, you know what I'm saying?
04:28Mm-hmm.
04:29So we have to have some realism tied in with the fantasy.
04:33Yes.
04:34That's what sells costumes every year.
04:44So now we have our full mermaid look.
04:47This actually has the rhinestones and some barnacles included.
04:51It just helps her look a little bit creepy and actually from the sea.
04:55All right.
04:56So now I made like a little hook with a little bit of latex on the end.
05:00And we're going to place it like right here.
05:02So it looks like it's coming through her mouth.
05:05Mm-hmm.
05:06So I'm going to go ahead and put a little bit of liquid latex on her face and start laying
05:11it down.
05:12All right.
05:13So we have some fake blood going on and that is chocolate.
05:18Yeah.
05:19And food coloring.
05:20This is the attention to detail.
05:21This is old blood.
05:22This is not fresh blood.
05:24This is because, you know, I've had the hook in my face for a minute.
05:27Mm-hmm.
05:28And they're just dragging you up in the net.
05:31This is so, oh, oh please.
05:47Oh my goodness.
05:48I don't even mind that I just got hooked.
05:49Wow.
05:50This is so cool.
05:51Yes.
05:52In the wet and wavy.
05:53Just.
05:54I'm that annoying mermaid who's like bragging, yeah I saw humans and I got the hook to prove
06:06it.
06:07Oh wow.
06:08Oh wow.
06:09I'm beautiful.
06:10I'm beautiful and creepy and let me do my final, uh, final reveal.
