00:00You're here again.
00:01Again.
00:02I said years ago we're going to make this a habit, and hey, not wrong yet, so for sure.
00:07I mean, seriously, though, do you get nervous?
00:10Your mom to arguably, they're saying he's going to be the greatest of all time.
00:15Lots of conversation about that.
00:17How are you processing that?
00:19Well, I mean, I still treat him the same.
00:21Like, hey, I'm still the same with him, but I know that he works very hard.
00:29He has the talent, but he also has the love and discipline,
00:33and I think that says a lot because, you know, you see other players that might have the talent,
00:38maybe not the discipline or the passion, and he lives and breathes it.
00:42What is supporting an athlete at that level as a parent, what has that been like for you?
00:48I do, I have to admit, this has been the hardest seven years of my life,
00:53not only learning for your kids to move out and become adults and, you know, not need you as much
00:58and going through that, but at the same time having to share my family with the world.
01:04You know, there's days I cry because I just want to, you know, I miss my little family, you know.
01:11And so, but he's living his dream, and he's succeeding in getting here again.
01:18And so, you know, what mom wouldn't want that either.
01:21So what's the best piece of advice you feel like you've given Patrick that he's actually taken advantage of in his career?
01:30To stay humble, to stay grounded to who he is.
01:34I think his wife, Brittany, really helps with that.
01:37She is a very good support system for him.
01:40And, you know, not let this world and what he has the opportunities and good or bad,
01:48don't let it change who he is and keep God first.
01:51So I know he has a pregame routine.
01:53Do you have one?
01:54And if so, what is it?
01:56You know, mine is I do my Bible study, and I pray, and I pray for everyone,
02:04every parent that's watching their kid out there, every player on both teams, and a lot of pacing.
02:12I get all my steps in the day of the game, like, because it's hard for me to sit down and watch it
02:17because it's just, you know, that's my baby, I mean, my firstborn.
02:21And so I still look at him that way.
02:24And so I just, you know, I text him every game day and, you know, just pray a lot
02:32and stand up, sit down, walk around, talk to people just to keep my mind occupied.
