Sports anchor Elle Duncan shares the moments that stuck out to her during Sunday night's game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Transcript
00:00Elle, how are you feeling after watching the big game?
00:03I'm feeling fantastic.
00:05I feel like that game checked every single box.
00:10It was a classic.
00:11There was a little controversy.
00:12If you love the sports aspect of the game,
00:15at the end there was a penalty that really kind of, you know,
00:18had it in very anticlimactically.
00:21And then, of course, we got halftime with Rihanna,
00:24which was already in and of itself so special
00:27and for her to make her announcement, somewhat make an announcement.
00:31I'm the only one that was a little confused at first.
00:33Like, when Beyonce made her announcement, right,
00:36she, like, rubbed the belly.
00:37She was like, I'm pregnant.
00:40Here's the deal.
00:41Rihanna's was a little more subtle, so I didn't want to out her
00:44or, you know, postpartum.
00:47She just had her baby, like, eight months ago.
00:49Right, right.
00:49So, yeah, she's doing it.
00:51It was great.
00:52ASAP didn't give her no time off.
00:53He was like, let's get right back to it.
00:55Another one.
00:57He was going to DJ Khaled right away.
00:59Another one.
01:00So, tell us about how monumental today was
01:03with the two black quarterbacks playing against each other
01:06and then having the first black female coach to play in a big game.
01:11Yeah, it was so incredible.
01:13It's, you know, it doesn't hurt the fact that it's like history months.
01:18There's just, like, all these things happening at once.
01:20We had not only the matchup that was just more and the quarterback
01:22and more history made after Packer Holmes became a Super Bowl MVP.
01:28We've never had a black-back quarterback once done that twice,
01:30so that was certainly really special.
01:33And then, yeah, like, this idea that women, I loved the commercial,
01:39but we all sort of loved the modes to the tributes,
01:42and Clueless is one of my favorite movies growing up,
01:44so I loved that commercial.
01:45What I loved was the NFL commercial that was sort of talking about women
01:49who were ushering in the next era.
01:52And Autumn Lockwood, who you're mentioning, is one of them.
01:55She's an Eagles strengthening conditioning coach.
01:58She's the first black woman to hold that position in the NFL,
02:00and because of that,
02:01she becomes the first black woman to coach in a Super Bowl.
02:03So all this history being made.
02:05And also Cheryl Lee Wilde singing,
02:08but they're released to sing,
02:10which is, of course, the black national anthem,
02:12exactly 100 years after it made its public debut.
02:15Like, there's just so much to do
02:16and great black history that was happening today.
02:18It really was.
02:20It was really good to see.
02:21I want to ask,
02:22even though you kind of stepped on this already,
02:24but what will you feel is your favorite part
02:27of Rihanna's performance
02:28or any other musical highlights?
02:30Yeah, I think it's just,
02:33well, from the musical perspective,
02:36just a reminder of how many bangers Rihanna has.
02:38You know, every single Rihanna song that she did,
02:41save her, like, maybe some of the stuff from the beginning.
02:43Like, if she had done maybe S.O.S.
02:45and been taking me to a different era,
02:46but I feel like people in their 30s
02:49have kind of been, like, the soundtrack to our
02:51college life to adult life transition.
02:54So just going on that journey with her,
02:56we never get to see her on the stage anymore.
02:58That was great.
02:58And then just being a mom,
02:59I thought it was so cool to see
03:02not only what I did not know
03:04was when you were pregnant,
03:06I just thought, you know,
03:07heading in, what a cool moment
03:08to show women that, you know,
03:10you can have a baby
03:11and you can still be sexy
03:13and beautiful and empowered
03:15and do what you want,
03:16go back to work when you want
03:17on your own terms.
03:19I just think it was incredible.
03:21And then to see her do it pregnant,
03:23it's so amazing, you know?
03:24I watched Serena in the Aussie Open
03:25not knowing that she was pregnant
03:27until she told us afterwards.
03:28We can just do such incredible things.
03:30So we were out there, like, still slaying
03:33and still, like, dancing.
03:34It's working.
03:35Also taking a seat when she needed to.
03:37Right.
03:37It was great.
03:40And I think it was awesome
03:41for women to do that,
03:42in particular moms.
03:43I thought the baby was going to come out
03:45when she started doing the butterfly.
03:47I was like, oh, girl, you're going to.
03:48Hey.
03:51Oh, I am done.
03:51There are worse ways
03:52for the baby to come.
03:53Right, right.
