00:00You are one for definitely searing viral moments.
00:03We have to ask, what makes you the self-appointed king of R&B?
00:09Well, you know, when I say I'm the king of R&B for my generation,
00:11I just feel like, you know, I'm the one that's been doing it the longest,
00:15stayed true to the culture of R&B, and I've just been doing it for so long.
00:21I just turned 30 years old April 15th.
00:23I've been in a gang since I was 15 years old.
00:25You know, that's 15 years.
00:27And a lot of people that grew up on my music,
00:31they really was like kids and now they're adults, you know?
00:35And there's so many moments in their life where my music is a part of it.
00:39So it's like anytime they think of something, my music is a part of it.
00:42So for me, I'm like, man, you know, I'm the king of R&B for my generation
00:46because I feel like I outlasted a lot of artists that came out when I came out.
00:51Even artists that came out after me, I've outlasted, you know,
00:54and God matched them whatever they're doing now.
00:56But, you know, as far as this thing right here, you know,
00:59I feel like this is what I do and I feel like I'm the king of it.
01:03And I say that to not be arrogant.
01:07But people got to be confident.
01:08You know, if I was on a football team or a basketball team,
01:11there's no way I'm walking in an arena saying that I'm not the best.
01:15You know, like I didn't grow up like that or I wasn't raised like that.
01:18You know, if you put yourself into something, you got to feel like you're the best
01:22because if you're not, then you won't be.
01:24So that's just where I put myself.
01:26And I feel like I'm a very confident person.
01:28And that's just what I believe.
01:30You know, anybody, everybody has their own opinion.
01:32You know, people can think whatever they want to think,
01:34believe what they want to believe.
01:35But as far as me and the people that's around with me,
01:38that's what we believe.
01:39And that's what we standing on.
01:40And that's just what it's going to be until I'm out of the game.
01:44And even when I'm out of the game, they still going to say,
01:48whenever people talk about the King R&B, Jacqui's name is always going to come up.
01:51You understand?
01:52Exactly, exactly.
01:53And I have to say, I love your King of R&B album.
01:58That came out when I was in college.
02:00And I have to say, my best friend and I were always like,
02:03this is out the ordinary.
02:06Always.
02:08I love it.
02:09I love it.
02:10I love it.
