00:00Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has left his Windsor residence and relocated to the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
00:10The former prince has vacated the Royal Lodge.
00:14He did so in early February and is now staying at Wood Farm Cottage on the Sandringham Estate
00:21while renovation work is carried out on his long-term new home.
00:27Now, although Buckingham Palace had previously indicated that the move would take place in 2026,
00:35the release of the latest Jeffrey Epstein files appears to have accelerated the timeline.
00:44Managing the situation around Andrew has posed ongoing difficulties for the royal family,
00:51with responses at times viewed as slow and lacking effectiveness or the feeling of the nation as well.
01:00His continued lease of Royal Lodge came to represent the broader issues stemming from his links to Epstein,
01:07prompting scrutiny around privilege, transparency and the spending of public funds.
01:13So should we be paying for royal residences? Here's what the people of London had to say.
01:18I think the royals should pay more towards their running, but I don't think we should abolish the royals
01:26because I think they do a valuable service for Britain, but they do need to modernise.
01:31And I think actually with the royals in place now and the next generation,
01:35I think they will make big strides towards that.
01:38No, I don't think there should be a royal family or a rededitary head of state whatsoever.
01:43I think that it's an outdated, almost feudal aspect of a society that has no place in modern Britain.
01:50I mean, I don't think the royal family should be, like, classed as how they are,
01:55because the world's changed, like, countries are run by governments and stuff,
02:00so there's not really a need for royal family, because they don't really add anything to our society.
02:05They just, like, live off us.
02:08So I don't think we should continue supporting them.
02:13Mounting pressure has been placed on Mountbatten, Windsor,
02:17to testify in the United States of America regarding his association with the paedophile financier allegations
02:25he has consistently denied.
02:29The palace confirmed his departure from Royal Lodge in October of 2025,
02:36coinciding with the removal of his princely title as well.
02:41Now, Sandringham is privately owned by King Charles,
02:44who will cover the costs of his brother's accommodation as it stands.
02:49It's understood that Mountbatten, Windsor is expected to eventually reside at Marsh Farm on the estate.
