00:47there how did it feel for you chris it's good it's not often that you know we all get to perform
00:50together like jd really curated something he put everybody together you had gucci you had big boy
00:55you had franchise boys you had tiff you had myself little john to be able to do that and like
01:00you know give people everything and of course we were missing some atlanta artists but but tonight
01:06it was good enough that hopefully that's the start of doing more of that where everybody comes together
01:10and gives gives the you know just a performance that people gonna remember for the rest of their
01:14lives how did it feel first of all how did it feel coming out there tonight if you came out there
01:20and they were crazy you listen you was operating like you was a young boy again you were just going
01:25crazy i'm still a young boy what's up you know i'm just saying how did they feel he said check
01:29away i ain't old no it feels good you know i just i literally just got off tour with janet jackson so i'm
01:35still in the the halo phase of being on stage every single night so it felt great but of course this was
01:42maybe three times the size of the crowds that we were doing so this being 50 what is it 60 000 people in
01:48superdome it feels amazing that's that that's the best word that i could give to you man
01:52that's what celebrating 50 years of hip-hop just for you starting off as a radio personality first
02:00yeah and then transitioning to music to acting and everything for you what does hip-hop mean for you
02:05in the longevity of your career man it's it's it's the catalyst that started all of those other
02:10things that you just named so you know me getting a call from john singleton and him asking me to try
02:15out in too fast too furious and you saw that where that went so it's just like man doing the music
02:20and just being able to to creatively um you know use this outlet to open up so many other doors in
02:28entertainment listen hip-hop is life hip-hop is everything and i'm just it's funny that it's only
02:3450 years old you know i just saw iced tea perform and you know this man is like 65 years old and i say
02:41that with the most grace like that's that proves to you and shows you how long you could be doing
02:46this and he was up there going like going crazy it was just good to watch that and ice cube and all
02:50the people that paved the way for myself so i can talk on and on about the 50 years of hip-hop but i'm
02:55just proud to be a part of it and have a chapter in it you know what i mean that's how i feel i really
03:01want to from i really just want to thank you for your contributions to hip-hop thank you because when you
03:06came in the game you brought your individualism and you left a splash because when i see some of
03:11my favorite artists like the baby now i think about some of your creativities the way you introduce
03:15these new ideals to videos right you know you wasn't playing and then you just left an unbelievable mark
03:22man bro i couldn't have done that without people like buster and like people like missy and uh red man
03:27these were my heroes and still are my heroes and uh this like i said there's always somebody that paves
03:31the way and then i got to do the same for those that come after me so again man just to be a part
03:37of this hip-hop is life well let's talk a little bit about the woman of the hour the birthday girl
03:43missy elliott do you have a fond memory with missy or like a funny story that you can tell
03:48yo the memories with me and missy like just being in the studio and it's like she is the epitome of
03:54having fun in the studio you never need to go to an after party you never need to go do anything
03:58because studio time with missy everybody's enjoying themselves and that's why she comes
04:02up with so much good music everybody being in the studio i would say when i did one minute man
04:08there's certain things i can't talk about but let's just say that it was is an experience that
