00:30You know Gina Yasharae came on and did it and so I want to do that for other comics I want to pay it forward.
00:43Well congratulations first and foremost you know we know you've hosted before group shows you've filled it for people you've done you know talk shows and then game shows how does it feel for this to be your own show doing it this time?
00:57Oh my gosh it's amazing I was at Pastor A.R. Bernard's Church Christian Cultural Center this Sunday and he said something he said sometimes like you have this dream but God doesn't let it happen because you don't have the faith to support it
01:16if he blessed you with it if he blessed you with it when you want it and he says sometimes you have to mature into your dreams and I was like
01:23my gosh so so excited so excited because my my vision is so clear about what I want to do.
01:37Okay can you tell us about that I wanted to ask about you know format and like topics you might touch on what can you tell us?
01:43Well I will say this uh Tom Joyner the radio show icon always use this phrase party with a purpose and I this is going to be purposeful
01:54intentional joy and fun and laughter that is what I am bringing. I love social media. Love it love it love it. Viral videos man I don't like any of the ones that be dust don't send me none what people fight.
02:10Send me the ones send me the ones where it's just like there's these kids I don't know if you've seen it they came from the house everybody's carrying a raccoon a dangle raccoon and it is the funniest thing to me that these kids and they were loving on the raccoon and no it wasn't a raccoon it was like a skunk.
02:28Okay the smell and the rabies and everything but they just like and I'm cracking up and it's viral and I said I would love to bring these kids on and their mamas.

02:41What in the world was going on? They didn't have a dog or a cat.
02:46I think that these videos that make me cry we when I filled in uh we brought a 96 year old woman that we saw on Instagram who was going through Home Depot screaming in a megaphone that she was looking for a sugar daddy and she was too frail to fly but we brought her on zoom
03:03and I gave her a line of candy versus sex toys because she was like I can't get your sugar daddy if I'm giving you sex toys and I said who would you like to be who do you want to be your sugar daddy and she said Steve Harvey you can't write that and the audience loved it the people who were watching loved it
03:22so that kind of I'm a social media junkie I love to bring those I want I'm I'm of an age where I'm like what the hell are these kids talking about on social media and a lot of parents are saying that we're gonna have a tutorial

04:25you know talk shows can be such a brutal commitment and then you know you open yourself backlash why are you
04:31talking about this why that but I was like oh did you want to open yourself back up to that but you're
04:36taking a fun format I feel like we haven't seen before well you know when I was doing The View I got
04:43on The View in a very intense political season when Obama started running and I had to learn
04:49politics like very very quickly but I also brought some fun I was very I knew exactly what I brought
04:56what my contribution was to The View and everybody else knew did the politics but what I brought was
05:04people saying Sherry I was sitting in the hospital with my mom and we would watch you every day
05:09and my mom is not here anymore but we would laugh I get stories like that all the time Sherry you're
05:14like my girlfriend in my head Sherry so I know what I brought in that format and I would get in trouble
05:21too because I was learning on the fly so that's what happens when you're in a live setting there's
05:28times when you fall but you know what when people know your heart they'll stick with you so I am
05:35I am having faith in that and confidence in that when you know I'm bringing you laughter and joy
05:41and fun and you get to escape I might make a boo-boo here and there I might forget the question
05:47I'm supposed to ask Idris because he's so dad don't mind I forgot what I was gonna say
05:53that's okay Joy Behar said to me once she said you know when you do this kind of show
06:00the moment you open your mouth half the world hates you no you're not gonna you're not gonna

07:37and uh Queen they are my LA stylist they started this journey with me they're gonna come out
07:41and finish it out and then in January I got Rodney John and uh Theo who are gonna do my hair and
07:49makeup so I got girl you know this I got my glam covered I got my wigs in the contract we already
07:56have wig heads on the wall we have hair being made as we speak okay good lashes have been bought
08:03chestnut lip liner is on display ready ready yes now did you think about doing this in LA we were
08:12talking you know in the beginning about the New York LA did you want to be in New York with your show
08:17I tell you you know I always because I got back to LA and reconnected with all of my friends with
08:22Niecy Nash and Garcelle and and Kim Whitley and I have to be honest I did not want to move
08:28uh to New York because I had all my friends and I'm gonna tell you somebody said to me you know you
08:33always got that one friend who who hears from God more than everybody and she said Sherry New York
08:38is not for you New York is for Jeffrey to find his independence you know my son has special needs
08:42and she said it is for Jeffrey to find that is where he will find his independence so you know
08:47I'm laid out on the floor yes so I have no problem with New York if New York is where I'm supposed to be
08:53for my son to advance and go further and find his passion yes I love the big apple I love the energy of
09:01New York though the people the vibe I ride the subway to work and it's just you know there's just
09:09an energy that New York has that LA does in LA you know we you know in New York you say the people say
09:16uh you know I'll see you later people in New York want to know what time where where we're meeting
09:21in LA we just say that if you get out of the conversation like I don't mean it I'm just saying
09:26goodbye yeah New York is just it's very direct and it it does foster an independence and I I am glad
09:35to be back I actually have to say I'm glad to be back in New York good good good well last question
09:41I wanted to ask you know you've literally been in this business almost 30 years
09:44has it been 30 has it been 30 years girl 95 I saw with your first television show that you were on
09:52um you know you've talked about ups and downs you were homeless at one point just different moments
09:58did you see yourself where you are you know now and is this exactly where you thought you would be
10:03um you know there's a I just this is a very spiritual person this is scripture this is uh you
10:09know God will bless you above what you can even think or see or so I did I know I would be here
10:16no not in this specific place did I know my dream was going to come true absolutely that's all I held
10:23on to in those times where I was homeless that's what I held on to in those times where I was sitting
10:30in jail that's what I held on to when I came out and saw a boot on my tire that is what I held on to
10:37in the times when I was going through divorces or when I had my baby at five and a half months and
10:44they told me he wasn't going to make it those things are my dreams are what held me that I knew
10:50at some point they would be a reality so every time something happens it's not quite the way I
10:57imagined but it's kind of the foundation was there so did I know this was going to come true I knew it
11:02at some point does it make me cry to know that it that it's happening absolutely yes
