The star on working with Future and Sienna for her song “Treat” and ways she always makes time for her family.
Transcript
00:00It was such an honor when I got the call to be a part of this beautiful campaign that is to
00:05celebrate families, the togetherness of families and love and joy that, you know, you see and feel
00:13when you see families interacting. And to do it with Rice Krispies treats was truly an honor
00:18because I've always loved this snack since I was a little girl.
00:21You're my favorite treat, treat, treat, treat, treat, treat. How'd you get so sweet, sweet, sweet? I love you seven days a week, week, week. I swear you're all I ever need, need, need, cause you're my favorite treat, treat, treat.
00:45Well, hello. It's good to see you again, Sierra. You know, every time I talk with you, I'm going to introduce you in that way. It's only right.
00:54I love it. I love it.
00:56Well, thank you again for chatting with me. You have so much going on with your partnership with Rice Krispies Treat.
01:02And the most important thing is you have a song coming out that is like kind of in honor of Rice Krispies Treat or like inspired by everyone's love of it.
01:10And that's treat. So it's fun. What was the inspiration for it? And why was it important for you to involve your kids, Future and Sienna?
01:18Yeah. Well, firstly, I have to say it was such an honor when I got the call to be a part of this beautiful campaign that is to celebrate families,
01:27the togetherness of families and love and joy that, you know, you see and feel when you see families interacting.
01:35And to do it with Rice Krispies Treats was truly an honor because I've always loved this snack since I was a little girl.
01:42And I wanted to also ask you, how were Future and Sienna in the studio when y'all were recording? How were they taking it all in?
01:49You know, sometimes you don't you don't really know what your kids are going to be like, you know, in certain situations.
01:55You're like, are they going to be like, OK, this is taking too long or OK, mom, like, or are they just going to be, you know, just all over the place?
02:03And they were so focused and committed and it didn't take them many passes to get it right or really rather than say to get it right.
02:11It didn't take them many passes to, like, have all those stacks because, you know, you stack voices when you're in the studio.
02:15Yeah. And it was just effortless for them and really fun.
02:21Like they really were having a good time.
02:22And so much to the point to where Sienna, she had me cracking up because after a while she gets silly and she's the one that just really might, she might step out a little bit.
02:34She might push it a little bit or like, you know, she got to throw something and it's like not quite on schedule or like part of the plan.
02:40So she's going like she starts going tree, tree, tree, tree.
02:45Like she starts being silly while she's like recording it.
02:48So and I'm like, Cece, that's not how we're supposed to sing it, sing it this way.
02:52But after a while, she just starts being so silly.
02:55But they did so good. It was really cute.
02:57There's a chance for people to possibly be able to be in the video for a treat with you.
03:01And for those who didn't really get to hear, how can they take part and hopefully get to dance and jam with you and your kids?
03:07Yeah. So they have to upload their videos on TikTok.
03:11I'm going to also put all the details on my TikTok so they can also look at my TikTok to see the exact direction, directions and the place to go.
03:18You're my favorite treat, treat, treat, treat, treat, treat.
03:22How'd you be so sweet, sweet, sweet?
03:25I love you seven days a week, week, week.
03:28I swear you're all I ever need, need, need, cause you're my favorite treat.
03:35What they need to add, hashtag our treat on their TikTok as well when they post it up.
03:39And then there's going to be a few acts that are going to be important.
03:42So just look at my TikTok and I'll make sure you have it.
03:45And you can also go to the Rice Krispies Treat website and they'll have the details there as well.
03:50Okay. And what kind of moves are you trying to see from the people?
03:53Like, you are a serious dancer. I mean, it's not easy.
03:57No, listen, this is not an intense thing.
04:00This is, this is about that family fun.
04:03Like this is like, doesn't have to be you trying to, don't break nothing, trying to like break it down.
04:08You know, come in with the good vibes, the good times, sing along,
04:13do whatever comes to you.
04:15If something silly happens, let the camera roll, cause that's a good time too.
04:19And then, yeah, that's what I would say.
04:23Yeah. And you can also have your friends too.
04:25You know, it doesn't have to be literally down to family.
04:28Your friends are your family too.
04:29So everyone is welcome to be a part of this and to have a good time and interact.
04:33So I may try to like create something, a kind of like unique move for it.
04:40So just look out for it.
04:41And lastly, I know that, you know, you mentioned that playing sports,
04:45you like to take them to those like activities and things like that,
04:48but they got to sing with you in the studio.
04:49They got a taste of how awesome that is.
04:52So as a singer who has been in the industry, what if they grew up and they're like,
04:56Oh mom, I want to do it too.
04:57I'm going to, how would you, how would you respond to that and support them,
05:01you know, in that decision?
05:03You know, I think the blessing is that my parents allowed me to pursue my dream
05:07that I dreamt of and they supported me.
05:11And even my mom was maybe a little like,
05:13that industry seems a little hardcore.
05:17She still allowed me to pursue my dream.
05:19And my dad would drive, ride to the studio,
05:23take me to the studio and sleep on the sofa, you know?
05:25So I think about how,
05:27how important that was for me and how,
05:31how obviously helpful it was because it afforded me the opportunity to do what I'm doing
05:36still to this day.
05:38And there's no greater feeling than waking up doing what you love.
05:41You know, when you do what you love, you never worked a day in your life.
05:43And I think that for my babies, I want them to have the same feeling.
05:48I want that whatever they choose to do in life, it brings them joy.
05:51They can be the best they can be at it.
05:53And, you know, they want to put their all into it.
05:56So if music is that, I will support it.
06:00Now, I will tell you, the industry that I work in is not easy by any means,
06:04but, you know, it's, it's built for those that are built for it, you know?
06:09So if they got it, then I would say, go do it.
06:11And I'll support them all the way.
06:13Nice.
06:14I love that.
06:15Well, that's all my time, Sierra.
06:16But thank you for making time to chat with me about your collaboration with Rice Krispies.
06:21Love the song, Treat.
06:23Love the hair is doing it for me.
06:24I need to switch.
06:25I need to put some blue in this because this is doing it for me.
06:28Put some blue in the mix.
06:30Hey.
06:31Hey.
06:33You're my favorite.
06:35Treat, treat, treat, treat, treat, treat.
06:38How?
