00:53so we've officially hit season two of the proud family louder and prouder um what was it like
01:02working with penny this season and what can we expect from our favorite proud oh it was amazing
01:08being penny this season um penny proud is a character that's always been a part of me
01:12um i started recording her voice when i was 14 years old so i feel like there's a little bit of
01:19penny in me and a little bit of kylan penny you know um it's been an amazing experience uh just to
01:25have so many people reach out and want to be a part of our show um knowing that people whose work
01:30that i enjoy so much love what we're doing here um this season we have so many amazing guest stars
01:36coming on and we have our original cast and it just it's just it feels like family all coming
01:42together and making um shows for our family who's watching it which is you guys do you was able to talk
01:49to the creators of the show um ruth smith and ralph farfar and they kind of mentioned that this season is
01:55really focused on intergenerational bonding um how does that play a significant role in the millennial and
02:01gen z audience who watch the show today um i think it plays a a major role um i feel like
02:09oh new generations we all have um different things like we're different in so many ways and it's like
02:19in for instance in my family i'm always telling everybody older than me like no pay attention to
02:23you know get the younger generation they can also do things and and keep you up to date of what's going
02:29on and reminding myself that like sometimes i don't know how to use certain things on social media and
02:33i'm like baby um what button do i push you know right or as far as parenting like there's so many
02:40conversations that i have with my mom or i have with um my friend's parents and i we talk about you
02:45know how we're doing it different now or there's certain things that hey i don't think you should do
02:50that and we don't do that anymore um but i feel like on the proud family what i love about this season
02:55is like especially penny and shigamama coming together because there has to be a balance of
03:01being able to communicate with each other and penny don't really know how to talk that well so shigamama
03:07has to tell her honey you are a you are a reflection of me like everything you're doing i've done and so
03:15making sure that they spend that time together and get to know each other and understand that we're all
03:19different but we're all the same and we're all learning and i just i love the messages that the
03:25proud family um creative team just they just make it happen no matter what i love that you mentioned
03:31that because um kind of transitioning into my next question you know this show has done you know a
03:39really great job historically on just touching hard topics and making them a bit easier to digest and
03:46understand um something that the creators mentioned in our interview was some of the topics coming up
03:52is surrounding race and colorism particularly with dj may um so i'm curious what was it like talking
03:59as a team and coming up with ways to shed light on these heavy social topics what's amazing is that
04:06we have such a great creative team and to be led by bruce smith and ralph farquhar like to me the best
04:13leaders know like they don't know everything you know bruce smith and ralph were like oh no we need
04:19to get some younger people in here um ultimately hired people who were fans of the show the first time
04:25around and to have different intergenerational conversations as writers like they're able to bring
04:33those type of things to life and being um playing a young person on the show and then actually being
04:41the age that i am now and knowing that these are episodes that my kids are going to be able to
04:46watch and it's going to explain certain things that not a lot of people understand um whether you're
04:52in our community or not um there's a lot of subjects that a lot of shows tend to shy away from
04:58and probably has never been that type of show and i believe the first time around they kind of had to
05:04tiptoe around certain things because you know we were on disney channel back then but right and it
05:10being 2023 it's like no let's have full conversations and that's okay and they don't make it to where
05:18they're trying to teach you a lesson they make it extremely relatable and i believe the best
05:23conversations start at home so watching this type of programming with your children is going to open up
05:28their minds and help them realize you know there are other people in the world who may not look
05:34like you may not sound like you may not do the same things that you do but we can all respect each
05:39other and and live as one and just be humans you know i think seeing yourself on television um in
05:47some way shape or form helps you feel seen and helps everyone mentally so i think that's why people
05:53connect with us so much what are three words to describe season two oh three words to describe
