Transcript
00:00So how is Melinda different from any character you've played before?
00:03She was very intense and full of rage and a bit irrational.
00:08You know, I usually play the moral compass, the strong, righteous women.
00:13And this one, she was just a little irrational.
00:25She's phenomenal.
00:26She's talented, and she has so many badass women, Rizzy.
00:30Now in acrimony, Taraji plays Melinda, a wife who finds out that her husband has betrayed her.
00:37Yes.
00:38So did you have any real-life experience to draw from for this character?
00:41I really need to draw from any personal experiences.
00:45I think we all as humans, I mean, if you haven't had a broken heart, you've never loved.
00:49So I think we've all experienced being hurt in some form or fashion.
00:53So we're going to kick things off with a little game situation.
00:56We're going to name some scenarios.
00:57Okay.
00:57And you tell us whether or not it's worth revenge or if you should just leave it alone.
01:02Okay.
01:02All right.
01:03Ready?
01:03Yeah.
01:04He crashed my car and then broke up with me before paying for it.
01:08He going to come up this time.
01:11It's just certain things you don't play with.
01:13Yeah.
01:13That is true.
01:14You know.
01:14And cars aren't cheap.
01:16They're not.
01:16It's like not.
01:17That's like spending my life savings.
01:18Yeah.
01:19You might as well just gamble that away, too.
01:21Just go ahead.
01:22We all at this point.
01:24Can't even get to work.
01:25Can't drive.
01:26Nowhere.
01:27I can't go pick you up.
01:28Listen, Jody.
01:29I need my car, Jody.
01:32I think I do some well.
01:33I'm sorry.
01:34It's okay.
01:35It's okay.
01:37Okay.
01:37So he invites his mom to live with you guys, but he doesn't talk to you about it first.
01:41No, we can't do that.
01:42I mean, what if me and mom don't get along?
01:44That's true.
01:45That's true.
01:46But then it is his mama.
01:47I get it, but we should talk about it.
01:48See, communication.
01:49We're going to have a problem because you didn't come to me.
01:52Yeah.
01:52I don't care about mom coming.
01:54She can come and go, but I just, we didn't talk about it.
01:56So he texts you, I love you, but then follows up with, sorry, wrong person.
02:00Oh, well, we're going to have to talk about that.
02:04We're going to have to talk about that.
02:06Oh, that's deep.
02:07He borrowed money from me to take a trip with his ex-girlfriend.
02:10No, ma'am.
02:11They both come up missing.
02:12Okay.
02:13Because she's got to know about me.
02:14Mm-hmm.
02:15Ex.
02:16And you slick.
02:17Yeah.
02:17You know, you trying to rub that in my face.
02:18So you going to the bottom of the ocean, too.
02:20Okay.
02:21We just two peas in a pod together.
02:23This is not really me.
02:24I'm speaking as if I'm Melinda.
02:25As Melinda, you guys.
02:27Yes.
02:28I'm promoting my film.
02:31So when you guys go out, he always asks you, you got this.
02:34Oh, no.
02:35I don't mind getting it sometimes, but not all the time.
02:39Yeah.
02:39Okay.
02:40Last one.
02:41Yes.
02:41He broke up with me via a tweet.
02:43Like, on Twitter, all your homegirls saw it.
02:48He saw it that day.
02:49His boy saw it.
02:52All his potential.
02:53He's dead.
02:53That's the face.
02:54He's already dead.
02:54Thought, thought, saw it.
02:55You know that I'm just kidding.
02:56He already did.
02:57Yeah.
02:58It's either the river, the lake, or the ocean.
02:59Okay.
03:00We only have three options.
03:02Pick one.
03:04Well, thank you so much, Taraji.
