00:01:35Cebu City continues to be a hub for tourism, culture, and economic activity.
00:01:40But as we celebrate these successes, the city has also faced very serious challenges.
00:01:46On January 8th, we experienced a tragic incident at the Binalio landfill, a collapse that claimed 36 lives have deeply affected workers and residents and brought waste management issues to the forefront.
00:02:00Today, we have with us, in Beyond the Headlines, no less than, the mayor of Cebu City, Mayor Nestor Archibald.

00:02:13And thank you, Gud, for making time, because we know that your schedule is really, really packed.
00:02:21And thank you for making time for us today.
00:02:23So you've been into the job as mayor for 219 days.
00:02:30So it's a young term, if we really look at the span that you have been serving as mayor of Cebu City.
00:02:40So for the past 219 days, what were the things that you consider as the highlights?
00:02:47Well, okay, 219 days is, and it was very challenging.
00:02:54Challenging in the sense that, when I saw the earthquake right away, the next thing you have this Tino.
00:03:00Then you will have the Sinulog and Paghauman na atay landslide.
00:03:10And right now, nagsusigi pagpada yun ang atong ASEAN Summit.
00:03:17And by the way, allow me also to congratulate you because Sinulog 2026 is one of the most, if not the most successful Sinulog through the years.
00:03:29And I know that a lot of people, including myself, also appreciated how you really stayed true to your commitment that it would end, you know, early.
