Transcript
00:00How does it feel to be part of Black Panther?
00:02Awesome.
00:03It's a dream.
00:05It's a dream.
00:07As a matter of fact, right after O.J. was done, I had a meeting with Nate Moore, and
00:14I said, listen, I've been practicing my Wakandan.
00:16I know you already got the titular characters taken care of, but how can I be down?
00:23Because man, this is a black superhero.
00:26It's huge.
00:27When I had first read the Black Panther comics, it was like early 2000s, and Reggie Hudlin
00:32had actually written a series.
00:33Right.
00:34He's been involved for a while.
00:35He's been involved for a while, right?
00:36And I was like, this is fascinating.
00:38And so I collected all these books, and friends would ask me, do you read comics?
00:41I'm like, not all into comics, but I read this Black Panther series.
00:45This was like 2006.
00:46A friend of mine was like, you should get the rights, dude, so when they do the movie,
00:50you can be a part of it.
00:51I was like, man, they ain't gonna do no black superhero movie.
00:54So 10 years later, it's happening.
00:57And to be on set and to see the level of production that is being put into this film, and to see
01:04primarily a cast of African and African-American descent in front of the camera, it's historical.
01:12It moves me.
01:13Like, it moves me to tears, right?
01:16And so just to have, I don't have a huge part, but I got a good part.
01:19I'm happy with my part.
01:21What's it?
01:22It's N'Jobu.
01:23N'Jobu.
01:24N'Jobu is a character from T'Challa's past.
01:27And that's all I can say without risking, like, losing life or limb.
01:31Let me tell you how deep it is.
01:33You go to the set, and they give you sides for the day.
01:38You look at your sides for the day, and when you're done with the scene, you give your sides
01:44back.
01:46And if you forget them, like I did one time at the hotel, someone follows you back to
01:51the hotel, and you give them no sides.
01:54They ain't playing.
01:56They are not playing.
01:57It's very serious stuff here.
01:58It's no joke.
02:00My kid, I get to take my kid to go see a black superhero movie, and he gets to see an image
02:05of himself as the man.
02:07And when I was a kid, I got a chance to see Christopher Reeves, I got a chance to see Michael
02:12Keaton.
02:13You know what I'm saying, but I didn't get a chance to see Chad McBoseman, Chad McBoseman
02:16looks like me.
02:17Like, he looks like my son.
02:19So I'm not only excited for that, but then Halloween, I can't wait to see little white
02:24kids dressing up as Black Panther, man.
02:26It's freaking dope.
02:29So yeah, I'm excited.
02:30I feel good.
