00:00I don't know if ten years from now that anybody can actually sing the songs of our babies today.
00:07And that's not, as you guys say, throwing shade.
00:13You know, that's just looking at it with reality.
00:19You're associated with so many classics.
00:21Yeah.
00:22Do we have classics?
00:23Uh, not yet.
00:26You have a long way to go.
00:29I mean, when you speak of folks who have been in the industry recording for as long as I have,
00:37and my peers, you know, and these babies, and that's what I call them,
00:44who are approaching maybe 20 years, maybe, which is kind of amusing to me
00:50because I'm certain that none of them thought they would even last that long.
00:54But since they have, when they get into the 50s and 60-year range,
00:59that's when you can start saying,
01:01well, maybe there's a classic hidden somewhere amongst them.
01:05But at this very moment, I don't see it.
01:07You know, I just don't.
01:08I certainly appreciate the fact that the youngsters are doing it.
01:14I mean, they are doing it.
01:16I'm very proud of that.
01:18I have an admiration for Beyonce Knowles.
01:21Um, Carter now.
01:23Watching her grow has been quite refreshing.
01:27It was wonderful to see how she's been able to create what and who she wanted to be
01:33and who she is.
01:34Um, very proud of that.
01:36I really am.
01:37Sustaining and becoming the icon that Gladys Knight or Patti LaBelle or Johnny Mathis or Frank Sinatra or Sammy Davis Jr. is.
01:53I doubt.
01:54I really do.
01:55And I love her to death.
01:56You know, and I kind of said I appreciate her talent.
02:00But that iconic status that I just mentioned before, those names, it's a long road to hope.
02:08Before I put on my makeup, I say a little prayer for you.
02:16I have always been associated with and will continue to be associated with songs that send messages of love, of hope, of inspiration, of joy.
02:27Tears, yeah.
02:29Heartbreak.
02:30But they're all stories that have not necessarily a happy ending but a conclusion.
02:37A lot of the stuff I'm hearing today, that's why I don't listen to radio.
02:41I listen to my peers on my CDs in my car.
02:44You know, I'm not hearing that.
02:47I don't know if ten years from now that anybody can actually sing the songs of our babies today.
02:54And that's not, as you guys say, throwing shade.
03:00You know, that's just looking at it with reality.
03:06I'm thrilled with this CD.
03:09It's a variety of music.
03:12It's something for every ear, I think.
03:15Including our babies' ears.
03:17I think they'll like it even.
03:19When you still hear I say a little prayer, you still hear Walk On By, you still hear Don't Make Me Over, you still hear every single record that I've ever recorded.
03:26That's how you hold up.
03:28Period.
03:29Period.
03:30Period.
03:31.
03:35.
03:37.
