00:08Doing fabulous. Doing great. Thanks for having us.
00:10They just tore down center stage for everybody doing all the old songs.
00:14Is there anything new that is going to come up?
00:16100%. We got a new album. We're finishing up right now in the studio out in L.A.
00:20Got about seven songs done, nine songs done, something like that.
00:24We're going to do about a couple more and then we're going to come out with this new album for y'all.
00:27Now I got to ask, you are not RL.
00:30So being the new kid on the block, what's it like for you and the energy and the history from Nex?
00:36The history of Nex is I've been there from the beginning. These are my cousins.
00:39These are my cousins. We all rooted in Indiana.
00:42He was actually in the industry before us.
00:44So I came out with a group of a few good men and was with the Facer before my cousins.
00:47And I've always been in contact with them over just in touring and passing and things like that.
00:51So it was a good transition. It was a normal, natural transition because we're all family.
00:56Now, being at Essence Fest, 20 year anniversary, what's it like being here with this energy and these people?
01:03First of all, it's an amazing blessing and honor to be here.
01:07It's amazing to see how far we've come as a people, one and two Essence.
01:12And we're very, very thankful and honored that you guys have us here.
01:15And we're looking forward to many, many more Essence Festivals.
01:20And next year Essence Festival will be a grown up. It'll be 21.
01:24It'll be illegal officially.
01:27Go through and just say why you like Essence Festival.
01:30I love Essence Festival because it gives us as a people, and I mean black people, a platform for the world to hear us and see us at our best.
