00:00What made me so passionate about wanting to executive produce the film is the fact that
00:15women that stand behind powerful men never get a chance to tell their story from their
00:20perspective. I mean, the fact that they've practically saved each other's lives by being
00:24able to relate to each other's pain, it just really made me want to get involved.
00:30I'm so happy that a film is being made about these four. At least, you know, a couple that
00:36should go down in history. Because they have influenced a lot of what happened in American life.
00:43It was a great opportunity to try to go deep into something that is far away from who I really am.
00:52It was probably one of the biggest things that I've ever done in my life, if not the biggest.
00:57When the role presented itself to me, that didn't stop me from kind of giving it my all and I think
01:02that that's why eventually I did get the role. That's just the spirit of womanhood and in particular
01:08of black womanhood. I definitely found similarities between myself and Dr. Betty and the similarities
01:14are the fact that we're determined to make it out. We're determined to make it through and we're
01:19going to do it with dignity. No matter how bad it gets, we're going to keep our head up.
