00:00New Orleans is just like any other city without the music.
00:15Tonight we're out in front of Howlin' Wolf. We're getting ready to do a show.
00:19They got a brass band show going on tonight.
00:21We gotta close the house down like we always do.
00:30The reverb brass band consists of nine members.
00:35It's two trombones, three trumpets, saxophone, tuba, bass drum, and snare drum.
00:41The brass sounds in New Orleans is part of the culture.
00:45It's just everybody pick up a, I'm going to say mainly guys,
00:49we're going to pick up a brass instrument rather than pick up a clarinet or a flute
00:52because it just don't look manly. Or drums.
00:55You can walk down the street with some drums, but you can't walk down the street with just a horn.
00:59They're not going to get nobody.
01:11Brass band music is a traditional music, as you know, housed in New Orleans.
01:16But we wanted to have the worldwide acclaim and exposure that it deserves.
01:20We always dreamed about, you know, doing music.
01:23That's a big part of New Orleans, so we can't do nothing but want to be a part of it.
01:29Well Essence is, well, for us is, we play for a wide variety of different nationalities and just people, period.
01:45And for us to be young Afro-Americans that, you know, like play for our urban people is, it's a total different vibe.
01:54So Essence has been here for a while because it works.
01:57We're honored to be part of the place.
01:59There's music scenes in different places, but there's nothing like coming home to the music.
02:12And for us to be part of the working field, it's a big part of the music in the world.
02:18And that's a big part of the soccer game.
02:22Right now it's a great supper.
