00:00I think there's too many men controlling women and the men want to compete against each other
00:05and they got this pimp-ass mentality where that's mine that's my you know so if it's one girl in the
00:11crew then nah she's not working with this particular girl or she's not going to do this
00:16or it's really two guys having a fight and the girl who happens to be the star who happens to
00:21be the talent who happens to be the drive the vision is the one that's being dissuaded you
00:26know and being sort of pigeonholed and not being allowed to work with other females that she
00:31females other women that she should be working with you know she should be able to work with
00:36whoever she wants to wherever her creative talent takes her is where she should go and she should
00:41cross genres she should cross you know different musical spectrums whatever the fill is but not
00:47be controlled by some guy who's like you know you either give me this or she ain't working with you
00:52what you know and there was a lot of that and until a lot of us actually grew up a little bit
00:58and got cooler with each other did we discover that what was happening behind the scenes not to mention
01:04record companies at that time gave female rappers less marketing dollars than they did the men
01:11so right now we deal with disparity in income you know income inequality it's a real thing you know
01:20there really are some boys clubs out here and they really think you should not be getting paid the
01:24same amount for the same work and I completely disagree with that I always fight against that
01:29and that's why I just I'm just a girl who's been a smart girl around too many dumb guys and no
01:36disrespect to the men because I have incredibly intelligent powerful men that I work with and
01:43that I'm friends with that are my family but I won't be controlled by somebody who is not as smart as me
01:49telling me what I'm worth you know what I mean and I just that you never sat right with me it never
01:55sat right with me and so I've never been able to abide that and uh but more more even more importantly
02:01that would never happen if we as women would come together and stop backbiting each other yes
02:08we'll support one another we'll stop kicking each other's backs and especially over a man or a woman I
02:13don't care whatever your flavor but we need to support each other and we need to lift each other
02:18and the problem is we don't do that enough and so it makes it a lot easier for these same old ways of
02:25controlling us to continue right we control a lot of dollars there's a reason why essence is having
02:31this there's a reason why rich dennis believes in us is because he knows the power of our of our our
02:38talents and our abilities and our business minds and our control of the dollar you know so we need
02:44to really exercise that power and work with one another rather than work against one another to move
02:50all of us forward
