00:00Tell me a story, read me a poem,
00:23Rap it in melody, sing me the song,
00:27Oh, then let me hold it deep in my heart,
00:32Where it can speak to me all the day long.
00:37The adventure of virtue, the adventure of truth,
00:43The thrill of the knowing that it's up to you,
00:48Building a new day shining in the sun,
00:52This is my story, the adventure has begun!
01:16Ow! Go Wolverines!
01:22That's it, Zack! Get him!
01:33Go, Zack! Go!
01:35Hey!
01:36Oops! Oh, I am so sorry.
01:40Oh, that's okay.
01:43Here, Zack! Kick it to me!
01:45No way! You're out of position, Melody!
01:47Melody! Melody!
01:53What the...
01:54Oh, man! What is she doing?
01:56Melody! Don't try to take it in by yourself!
02:02Pass it across! I've got a clear shop!
02:06I'm gonna win this game!
02:08That's it! Game over!
02:18Oh, I don't believe it.
02:20A tie!
02:21Whoa!
02:23Hey, what's with all the hot-dogging, Melanie?
02:26I was open. You should have passed it to me.
02:28I wasn't hot-dogging, Nichols.
02:31And in case you've forgotten, I'm the best shot on the team.
02:34That's why I'm captain.
02:36And that's why you'll do what I say out there.
02:38I'm calling the shots on tomorrow's rematch.
02:40Not you.
02:42Got that?
02:44Yeah. Got it.
02:46They whooped, Zach.
02:58Today was a fluke.
02:59Tomorrow you'll blow the razors off the field.
03:03Not with Melanie calling the shots, we won't.
03:06Annie! Zach!
03:08Smack it here!
03:09Ari, Ari!
03:16Heads up!
03:18What's up, Zach?
03:20Hey, look what Zach taught me!
03:27Ari?
03:32Is everything all right down there, little buddy?
03:36I'm glad you guys can laugh.
03:39The Wolverine's tied with the razors.
03:47I know you feel bad, Zach.
03:50But there'll be other gains.
03:52I know, Plato.
03:54We can't always win.
03:56I'm just upset about Melanie, our team captain.
03:59She helps call the shots during the game.
04:01But she's so full of herself,
04:03there's hardly any room left on the soccer field for the rest of us.
04:06But at least you've kept your sense of humor about it.
04:10I'm trying.
04:12Yes.
04:13It's tough when our leaders let us down.
04:15Exactly.
04:16So what if she's the best player?
04:18That doesn't make her a good leader, right?
04:20She moves everyone else around while keeping herself up at the front line for all the glory shots.
04:25Even I could be a better team captain than Melanie any day.
04:29Zach's right.
04:30She won't listen to anyone, not even a team coach.
04:33When a leader only hears his or her own voice, but is deaf to others, she's doomed to fail.
04:44That's it.
04:45Exactly, Plato.
04:46Who said that?
04:48Einstein?
04:49George Washington?
04:51No.
04:52I just made it up.
04:53It's the idea behind a fable I once heard.
04:56On the island of the Dominican Republic, they tell the tale of an ancient leader.
05:06An island king.
05:09The island king was not a very good leader.
05:15Announcing the king's humble servant, Chief Promenade.
05:21Offerings, all king on high, from your grateful subject in the north.
05:36What is the meaning of this outrage?
05:39The chief from the north dares to be tormenting me?
05:44Has he forgotten that I am the island king?
05:47You see, the king was so full of his own self-importance, it was against the law for anyone to be taller than he was.
05:56Bring me the royal advisers!
06:01Summon the royal advisers!
06:05Royal advisers!
06:07Royal advisers!
06:09Royal advisers!
06:13You called old king on high?
06:16Something must be done!
06:18I'm still not tall enough!
06:21Advise me!
06:23Uh-oh!
06:27His advisers were at a loss until one of them got a...
06:32Well, let's just call it...
06:34A hair-raising idea!
06:40Finally, most definitely, the king was taller than anyone else!
06:44If only for a while!
06:48So he closed down the barber shop and he asked his advisers once again.
06:54Advise me!
06:55Oh!
06:55Oh!
06:56Oh!
06:56Oh!
06:56Oh!
06:57Oh!
06:57Oh!
06:57Oh!
06:57Oh!
06:57Oh!
06:58Oh!
06:58Oh!
06:58Oh!
06:58Oh!
06:59Oh!
07:00Oh!
07:00Oh!
07:01Oh!
07:02Oh!
07:02Oh!
07:03Oh!
07:04Oh!
07:04Oh!
07:05Oh!
07:06Oh!
07:07Oh!
07:08Oh!
07:09Oh!
07:10Oh!
07:11Oh!
07:12So the king also closed down the shoe shop and asked his advisers one more time.
07:18Advise me!
07:22I don't want to wear shoes anymore!
07:24We dug trenches that everyone stands in!
07:27Do what next?
07:28Crawl on our bellies?
07:31Hoo-hoo!
07:32That's it!
07:33I'm brilliant!
07:35Let it be done!
07:36Everyone on your bellies!
07:38Oh!
07:39No!
07:40No!
07:41No!
07:42No!
07:43No!
07:44No!
07:45No good!
07:46Ah!
07:47Bring me the Royal Carpenter!
07:49Summon the Royal Carpenter!
07:53Royal Carpenter!
07:54Royal Carpenter!
07:55Royal Carpenter!
07:57Royal Carpenter!
08:00Royal Carpenter!
08:01The Royal Carpenter!
08:04You called?
08:05O King On High!
08:06Oh!
08:07Something must be done!
08:08I'm still not tall enough!
08:09Build me something!
08:10Perhaps a taller more magnificent throne!
08:13Oh!
08:15It's a taller, more magnificent throne, O King on High.
08:20No, no, no.
08:23I need something permanent.
08:25Something that will settle this once and for all.
08:31That's it.
08:32I'm brilliant.
08:33Build me something so I am as tall as the moon.
08:38But how is that possible?
08:41Because I am O King on High.
08:43And what I want, I get.
08:45I humbly agree.
08:48Oh, spoil them most childish king on high.
08:51Build me a tower so tall I can touch the moon.
08:55But, but, but.
08:58And if you do not, then you will be the shortest person on this island.
09:03A full head shorter.
09:07Let it be done.
09:13Hoo-hoo, the king is going to love this.
09:17Hoo-hoo.
09:20I have just the thing, O King on High.
09:23Belly.
09:25First one needs some boxes.
09:29A bunch of boxes.
09:31No, not tall enough.
09:34You're fired.
09:35Hoo-ah!
09:37Uh, uh, then we'll stack all the boxes on top of each other, O King on High.
09:42Yes!
09:43Ha-ha!
09:44I'm brilliant!
09:45Let it be done.
09:51So, what do you think?
09:54Nah, still not tall enough.
09:56But we have used every last box on the island.
10:00Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah.
10:02Belly.
10:04You're a carpenter, right?
10:06Make more.
10:07Make more.
10:07Oh-ho-ho!
10:37Yes!
10:37That should just about do it.
10:40It might not be safe.
10:41I'll go first, O King on High.
10:44Don't be ridiculous.
10:45This was my idea.
10:47And the honor of touching the moon belongs to me and me alone.
10:51Ooh-ho-ho!
10:56Let it be done.
10:58Hey!
11:07Hey!
11:08I need one more box!
11:10There are no more boxes on the whole island, and no more trees left to make more boxes.
11:32I've had it with all your negative thinking!
11:36Give up and calm down, O King on High!
11:44I have it!
11:54Take the first box from the bottom and bring it to the top!
11:59I don't think that's a very good idea.
12:03Oh, a king's work is never done.
12:07Do as I say, fool.
12:10Take out the first box and bring it up here.
12:15Okay, you're the king.
12:20Got it.
12:22Oh, king.
12:29And that's the last they ever saw of their island king.
12:39So, if a leader makes foolish decisions and doesn't listen to those being led,
12:45he or she is bound to, well, fall.
12:49It's as predictable as gravity.
12:52I sure wish Melanie could have heard that story.
12:55Play your best tomorrow, Zack. That's all you can do.
12:59Good luck.
13:02Good luck, Zack.
13:04Thanks, guys. Something tells me I'll need it.
13:19Huh? Who is it?
13:24Zack?
13:26I'm sorry to bother you, Plato.
13:28Shouldn't you be home resting up for tomorrow's big game?
13:33Sleep?
13:34Pfft.
13:34No way.
13:35Hmm.
13:36Still worried about Melanie.
13:39No.
13:39I've got a bigger problem now.
13:41The coach called tonight after dinner.
13:44He's pulled Melanie and now I'm the new team captain.
13:46Everyone on the team is excited but me and Melanie, I guess.
13:52I don't know the first thing about being a leader.
13:55The Razors are really tough players.
13:57There's no room for mistakes, you know.
13:59But you trust your coach and in his decisions, right?
14:03Yeah, sure.
14:04Then he must believe in you.
14:07Here you go, Plato.
14:14Okay, Ari, move along.
14:17Here's another leadership story about one of the world's most famous leaders.
14:28A Greek we now know as Alexander the Great.
14:32Once there was a king named Gordius, who was a wise and thoughtful ruler.
14:39Before he died, Gordius tied a great knot of rope.
14:44Oh, dear, that's a masterful knot.
14:46I don't think anyone would do that.
14:49So intricate were its twists and turns that no one could see how to untie it.
14:55For years after Gordius died, all who visited the temple proclaimed that only a great man could have tied such a mighty knot.
15:07The man who undoes this wonderful knot would be even greater than Gordius and have the world for a kingdom.
15:14So leaders from all over the world came to the temple to try and untie the magnificent knot.
15:20And they all failed.
15:22That is, until a young man from Macedonia arrived in the city.
15:28It was Alexander, returning home with his army of soldiers after great battle in India.
15:34Where is this fabled Gordian knot?
15:46Hmm.
15:50Ah.
15:50One king spent four months trying to find the ends of the knot.
15:55Another used golden needles to try and pry it apart.
15:59A prince once examined it through a diamond.
16:02All failed to be the greatest.
16:04Ah.
16:06I know how to undo it.
16:08What did he say?
16:10What did he possibly know?
16:15Hmm?
16:15He was not discouraged by the odds.
16:22And he solved the problem at hand in an unconventional and creative way.
16:28And so Alexander showed that he truly was a great leader.
16:33Maybe I shouldn't be so worried about the razors after all.
16:37I've got some trick plays I've always wanted to try.
16:41That's more like it.
16:43And you know, Alexander didn't stop with the Gordian knot.
16:46As he led his soldiers home, they had to cross a vast desert.
16:59But days after their water ran out, the soldiers grew thirsty and weary.
17:04Not another step, Alexander.
17:08We can't go on.
17:10And even lost their faith in their leader.
17:15It was then that fate showed its hand.
17:18Oh, mighty Alexander.
17:19How fortunate our paths should cross in this forsaken land.
17:33Alexander's wisdom and triumphs are known in all the corners of the world.
17:37I, a mere Greek traveler, am honored to be in your presence.
17:44Oh, you are thirsty.
17:46Water.
17:47Here, what little water I have is yours, Alexander.
18:02Thank you, my friend.
18:04Water.
18:05Water.
18:06Please.
18:08Water.
18:08Please.
18:09Water.
18:10Please.
18:14But I cannot accept this.
18:16There is not enough water for my men.
18:20If they cannot drink, then I cannot drink.
18:25What did he say?
18:26What did he say?
18:28Alexander!
18:29Alexander!
18:30Alexander!
18:30Lead us home, Alexander!
18:32We must return home!
18:33They found renewed strength because of Alexander's loyalty to them.
18:39And every last soldier demanded that they continue home.
18:42And that Alexander should be the one to lead them.
18:47Of course!
18:49Before you can be a good leader, you have to set a good example.
18:54I couldn't have said it better myself.
18:57Thanks, Plato.
18:58I know what I gotta do now.
19:00But first, you get some sleep, or you won't be able to keep your eyes open.
19:07Oh, and Plato, thanks again.
19:10And I'm sorry for waking you up, Sock.
19:12Ari!
19:12Aurora!
19:14Shh!
19:14Shhh.
19:16Night Jack.
19:16What?
19:17Uh-oh.
19:20Uh-oh.
19:28Ah!
19:29Ah!
19:29Ah!
19:35Ah!
19:36Ah!
19:36Ah!
19:36Ah!
19:37Ah!
19:38Ah!
19:39Ah!
19:40No, Wolverines!
19:46Give it to me!
19:47You haven't got a shot!
20:01Gather around, guys.
20:03I'm going to move some positions around.
20:06Coach, I've got a few ideas.
20:09Go ahead, Captain.
20:11Captain.
20:14With this sore ankle, I'm pulling myself out of the game.
20:18What?
20:19No, you can't!
20:20The decision's been made.
20:22And Melanie, as for you.
20:25Yeah?
20:26You stay up front in an offensive position.
20:30Are you not, Zach?
20:31What are you doing?
20:33Yeah, I don't get it.
20:36Melanie is still our best forward player.
20:38John, you play my position.
20:40But, Zach, we'll never have a chance without you out there.
20:43Look, guys, we're a team, and I'm doing this for the team.
20:47I sure wish Plato could be here to see this.
20:50As a wise man, Jawaharlal Nehru, once said, great leaders have something in them which inspires a whole people and makes them do great deeds.
21:02Go get him, Wolverines!
21:12Yeah!
21:12Yeah!
21:13Woo-hoo!
21:15Yeah!
21:16Yeah!
21:17Go!
21:18Go!
21:18Go!
21:20Yeah!
21:21That's it, Tyler!
21:23Pass it!
21:25You're throwing a block, Melanie!
21:31I can make this one!
21:33Huh?
21:35Pass it!
21:36Pass it!
21:39Pass it!
21:40Game over!
21:58Yay!
22:00Yay!
22:01Woo-hoo!
22:02Woo-hoo!
22:03Woo-hoo!
22:04Woo-hoo!
22:05Woo-hoo!
22:08Nice job.
22:12Good play, Melanie.
22:14Those were good calls, Zack.
22:19Congratulations, Captain.
22:21You're better at this than I ever was.
22:23Do you know where you're going?
22:30Chances are, if you do, somebody walked ahead to lead the way
22:38for you.
22:40If you know what you're doing, you can be a leader, too.
22:47Set an example for those who follow you.
22:54Because it takes teamwork if you want to play that game.
23:00Even if you're not a leader, you're important just the same.
23:07Yes, it takes teamwork to be the best you can be.
23:13Stand and join together.
23:16Now you're playing as a team.
23:19Because it takes teamwork to be the best you can be.
23:29Stand and join together.
23:31And now you're playing as a team.
23:35Yes, it takes teamwork to be the best you can be.
23:44And now you're playing as a team.
23:47But I'll be playing as a team.
23:52You
