00:00We've been fortunate to talk to you, you know, a number of times over the last year, actually.
00:05This is less than a year from your series A.
00:07And the thing that I've learned speaking to you, speaking to you.
00:10Investors is that you move quickly, right?
00:13You move quickly on deployment of the tech.
00:15But you've also grown.
00:16Let's start by just asking, like, why did you need to raise $100 million here?
00:20There must be a need for that capital.
00:23Yeah, absolutely.
00:25Thanks for having me again.
00:26It's great to be speaking with you all.
00:30For us, it's really about taking space missions further faster.
00:33I think, you know, you guys have been really tracking.
00:35The developments in the space industry over the past year, both on the commercial side and on government.
00:40side, domestically and abroad, there's a ton of enthusiasm for what we can do.
00:45in space and really changing our our perceptions on what's possible.
00:49Oftentimes.
00:50There winds up being more friction and taking those space missions live due to the ground.
00:55And that's something that has to change.
00:56We have to be able to push the boundaries on capabilities and.
01:00We have to be able to do that on a rapid timescale.
01:02So for us, what this funding represents.
01:05is a significant amount of demand that we've seen from a wide variety of customers and being able to.
01:10enable their missions to go further faster.
01:12So this year has been.
01:15a really exciting example for us to kind of show what that end to end concept looks.
01:20like for Northwood, many people do know us by our phased rays, which is critical to how.
01:25we think about the ground really introducing novel hardware solutions so that we can do more in space.
01:30But we view ourselves as an end to end partner for these space missions all.
01:35the way from the concepts that they are initially coming up with to the time when their data is streaming live and actually.
01:40you know delivered to end users and we've actually done that we've we've gone from an initial concept.
01:45of saying hey let's have dynamic links that you can access not just from low earth or.
01:50orbit but all the way up to geostationary orbit in the same system.
01:53and then let's.
01:55let's show how fast we can bring that concept into reality.
01:58and so you know we're we're talking to.
02:00today as well about our contract that we close with.
02:03right.
02:04us space force.
02:05yeah.
02:05bridget let me jump in here like they know it's a 49 million dollar contract with the space force.
02:09um.
02:10you know.
02:10you know what will you be doing with them specifically but also my understanding is like there is a link here.
02:15between the money that you raised in the series B.
02:18and being able to kind of just.
02:20you know.
02:21you know.
02:22you know.
02:23you know.
02:24you know.
02:25you know.
02:26you know.
02:27you know.
02:28you know.
02:29you know.
02:30you know.
02:31you know.
02:32you know.
02:33you know.
02:34you know.
02:35you know.
02:36you know.
02:37you know.
02:38you know.
02:39you know.
02:40you know.
02:41you know.
02:42you know.
02:43you know.
02:44you know.
02:45you know.
02:46you know.
02:47you know.
02:48you know.
02:49you know.
02:25on that contract across a number of milestones. So contract was.
02:30Executed. And at this point, there's been a three month turnaround time from kick.
02:35Off of that contract to actually delivering links live in the field. So we.
02:40We have those links live in the field already. And so what the funding represents for us is let's scale.
02:45That model. Let's do it more. Let's demonstrate how we're able to deploy a global.
02:50Network of this portal product that supports the dynamic links.
02:55Between low Earth orbit and geostationary orbit, but also serve up more space capabilities that we're.
03:00Getting a lot of appetite for. So the funding really represents being able to serve the appetite that.
03:05We're seeing and hit larger production volumes.
03:07We've been lucky enough to talk to some of your key investors.
03:10And mean has been on the show before from Washington Harbor Partners.
03:13And he put it to add that North would provide.
03:15The only viable approach capable of scaling ground station capacity.
03:20So you're not actually technically the only approach that could be taken because.
03:25You could also go to Blue Halo, for example. So what is your unique selling point?
03:28How are you differentiated from others?
03:30That have been winning contracts.
03:31Yeah, I think the way that we view our.
03:35Difference is really for space providers today. They wind up running two companies.
03:39They.
03:40They wind up having to run the space mission that they're supporting.
03:43But they also have to stitch together.
03:45A complex value chain of different pieces of the ground.
03:48You know, they have to think about ground.
03:50Hardware.
03:51Like you mentioned, you know, Blue Halo, another developer of phased array hardware.
03:55But they also have to think about, you know, sites, global shipping, logistics operation.
04:00Around the world.
04:01They have to think about the software interfaces and the network backbone attached to that.
04:05And so where we find ourselves really differentiated is we take on that full problem scope.
04:09And I think.
04:10You know, what we've connected with with Mina specifically on is the importance of being able to do.
04:15To deliver the end to end solution and do it on a condensed timeline.
04:18And we feel like.
04:19There's.
04:20There's a huge value in being able to do that.
04:22And that's why we've.
04:23Invested in that kind of differentiated approach.
04:25Yeah.
04:26Yeah.
04:27Yeah.
04:28Yeah.
04:29Yeah.
04:30Yeah.
04:31Yeah.
04:32Yeah.
04:33Yeah.
04:34Yeah.
04:35Yeah.
04:36Yeah.
04:37Yeah.
04:38Yeah.
04:39Yeah.
04:40Yeah.
04:41Yeah.
04:42Yeah.
04:44Yeah.
04:45Yeah.
04:46Yeah.
04:47Yeah.
04:48Yeah.
04:49Yeah.
04:50Yeah.
04:51Yeah.
04:52We feel likeč that space.
04:53Just continues to grow and for ourselves, we've had contact with.
04:54company and with other companies. And we're excited to have our capabilities just
04:59kind of be the proof in themselves that we are the infrastructure provider that makes sense.
05:04And for a whole host of industry use cases. Bridget I know you don't want to focus.
05:09On this necessarily, you know, you're a former actor, platinum singer. So
05:14you went away, turned academia, founded Norfolk.
05:19Right at the end of 2022 did a series A at the beginning of 24. And now here we are.
05:24And I think there's a lot of interest to learn how big is Northwood now? How many people? What is your
05:29footprint? Where are you deployed around the world? Because you have done it quite quickly.
05:34Yeah, we're just around 70 people. We have
05:39sites deployed across two continents. At this point in time, we have a
05:44full production facility running not just our phased ray product, but two other hardware products.
05:49So I think that both fit in with that hardware stack as well as work in complement to it.
05:54So excited to be sharing those product lines as well. And this year is going to be
05:59a really big year for us. We're planning on deploying 18 sites across five continents. So just
06:04continuing to ramp up our production and the offerings that we can provide to them.
06:09for the space industry this year.
