00:00Deuce McBride has missed time because of an ankle injury, but Jalen Brown
00:05Brunson twisted his ankle a few times this season and the latest was a non contest.
00:10Injury treat tripping over his own foot. Then we fast forward to Josh Hart.
00:15Who had an ankle injury coming down on someone else's foot on if you look at the
00:20videos and you replay them. You can see that the mechanism of the injury or how it happens.
00:25Is essentially the same despite one being non-contact tripping.
00:30Over his own foot and the other one being he steps on someone else's foot. The foot still.
00:35Internally twists in and the same ligaments and the same.
00:40Structures are are stressed and injured and you know sprained at the.
00:45End of the day. Unfortunately, I'm sure at NYU Langone you guys see.
00:50A lot of patients or a lot of treat a lot of patients with ankle injuries.
00:55But let's say you have a patient that's not a professional athlete like Josh Hart.
01:00Or Jalen Brunson. How would you treat that patient with the same ankle injury.
01:05For ankle sprains typically the first line of treatment is non-operative.
01:10So we would do physical therapy and functional rehabilitation.
01:14What I.
01:15Often tell patients to start out is to regain the range of motion.
01:18And so I tell them to.
01:20Draw out the alphabet with their feet to really restore that ankle.
01:25Range of motion sideways up and down and all around.
01:28And then combine it with non-stroy.
01:30Little anti-inflammatory medications and these things typically get better for.
01:34For most people.
01:35around six to eight weeks.
