Palace optimistic Co will be brought back to PH this year

The government remains optimistic that the fugitives hiding abroad like former lawmaker Zaldy Co will be brought back to the Philippines this year to face charges, Malacañang said on Jan. 29, 2026. Speaking to reporters, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the government was coordinating closely with concerned agencies after a recent report revealed that Co appeared before a notary public in Stockholm, Sweden on Jan. 15, based on an apostille attached to a signed petition he filed with the Supreme Court.
