05:17And they could well have started a hunt...

09:01My review of season 5...
09:03Volume 1...
09:04Honest...
09:05I complained about the wait time for this season, but after watching it, it was well worth the wait.
09:10I was hooked from the moment that it started, and I felt re-immersed right back into it.
09:14I liked the-
09:15It was the way that the show went down the darker route that I feel made up the likes of season 2.
09:19Upon my rewatch-
09:20Season 2 felt so tonally different to the others, and this one has definitely taken some inspiration-
09:25From that earlier season.
09:27When it came to the split of the stories, I thought it all worked really well.
09:30I was most invested in the story that had Will leading, probably because it was the most-
09:35Interesting and consequential, and in the previous season, he didn't actually get that much of a focus.
09:40Despite being important, is it just me, or do the Demogorgon seem even more menacing?
09:45Than what they were before.
09:46They were absolutely annihilating everybody in their path.
09:50Personally, at the military base, I'd have loved to have seen the full set.
09:53Demogorgons, Demodogs, and-
09:55Demobats, but it's fine.
09:56These were brutal enough as they were.
09:59The deeper themes in-
10:00The deeper themes in the stories was something that also cut through a lot.
10:02From Robin inspiring Will to accept who-
10:05He is as a person, and not hiding who he is.
10:07Hopper being the protective father, and even Holly's mother-
10:10Showing the love that she had for her daughter.
10:12They all add such good depth to the show, and it just-
10:15Elevates the stories even more.
10:17I've actually got a question.
10:18Do we know if Mike's dad's alright?
10:20I feel like we saw him get taken into hospital, but then never heard anything about him again.
10:24Poor-
10:25When it came to the performances, all of the characters were performed so well.
10:29From Eleven and Hopper's protective relationship to the tenderness between Robin and Will,
10:34the comedians-
10:34The comedic nature and grand introduction of Derek, and even the reprisal from Mike, Lucas, Dustin-
10:39and Max.
10:40Every character just slotted right back into the show, and the performances were as strong-
10:44as they'd ever been.
10:46The standouts for me, though, were definitely Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp-
10:49and Jamie Campbell-Bauer.
10:51When Vecna first appeared, it was four episodes in the making.
10:54And it just worked so well.
10:56It couldn't have been done any better.
10:58The single-take-
10:59shot of the chaos and devastation that was being caused, and the intensity of having Vecna
11:04that close-
11:04It was immersive, and I felt like I could feel the sharpness of his body and the-
11:09breath of him.
11:10I wanna say it, and I'm gonna, but Vecna is probably this gen-
11:14generations Voldemort.
11:16I just think it's a shame that there's been such a large gap between seasons, because-
11:19I think that break in time definitely hurts the impact that the character can make.
11:23However, off-
11:24After seeing him for a brief but powerful appearance, he's cemented himself as such a great villain.
11:29And I can't wait to see what he's gonna do when the show returns on Christmas Day.
