Mount Kailash is one of the most sacred and mysterious mountains in the world. It is located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, near the source of several major Asian rivers such as the Indus, Brahmaputra, Sutlej, and Karnali. Mount Kailash is considered holy by four religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon. Hindus believe it is the abode of Lord Shiva, while Buddhists associate it with Mount Meru, the center of the universe. Jains regard it as the place where their first Tirthankara attained liberation.
Standing about 6,638 meters high, Mount Kailash has a unique pyramid-like shape and remains unclimbed, as climbing it is considered disrespectful to religious beliefs. Pilgrims from around the world perform a sacred walk called parikrama or kora around the mountain, believing it cleanses sins and brings spiritual merit. Mount Kailash is not only a natural wonder but also a powerful symbol of faith and spirituality.
