00:00Remember when a console was judged by the quality of its exclusive games?
00:05That feels like a completely different era of gaming now, given that Xbox has spent the past few years
00:10bringing its games to other platforms, Xbox President Sarah Bond has actually
00:15gone as far to say that the idea of exclusives is looking downright
00:20antiquated. This is because the biggest games in the world are increasingly looking like platforms
00:25in their own right. She says the biggest games in the world are available everywhere.
00:30You look at Call of Duty, Minecraft, Fortnite, Roblox, that's where people gather and
00:35they have experiences and the idea of locking it to one store or one device
00:40is antiquated for most people. You want to be able to play with your friends anywhere.
00:45Regardless of what they're on, in this respect Xbox is increasingly positioning
00:50itself as less of a platform to play games on and more of a service to play games on.
00:55Exclusives don't really help the argument in that case. It's an interesting shift
01:00in perspective from Xbox here, but given the success of PlayStation exclusive games like
01:05Astro Bot, I'm not so sure they are totally antiquated just yet. What do you
01:10think?
