00:00i think it's more of the same from from gm here where they've really been executing with
00:05sort of the uh old old school technology the the great big pickups and and se
00:10v's that has has long been you know they're sort of calling card and
00:15you know we've we've seen sort of slow and steady progress on the electric vehicle front until recently
00:20i i think we've we've seen uh some concerns of course about uh just
00:25how much uh that unwind will be disruptive for for the detroit automakers
00:30uh both gm and ford and yet i think gm was much better positioned than for
00:35to the board in terms of you know having the the scale to where uh you know its electric vehicle
00:40business is less of a loss making aspect of the company and
00:45so while we'll see some dialing back of production of those vehicles because
00:50of a sort of less receptive environment you know it's going to be less dramatic than what
00:55we've seen at Ford and meanwhile just more and more of these you know trucks and SUVs
01:00that are their specialty you know the demand for those have been incredibly strong.
01:05Craig they just missed where the consumer was going to be you and I've been talking about
01:08this now for a number of years.
01:10Do you think we're overstating the importance of the EV credits I know they're material but.
01:15Craig ultimately was that the direction of travel anyway.
01:19Yeah.
01:20I think you know the going away of EV tax credits is a huge deal for for certain many.
01:25manufacturers.
01:26I mean you know the Teslas and Rivians and Lucids of the.
01:30the world that are entirely you know tied to the battery electric vehicle market.
01:35this is is hugely problematic for them in the in the US and I think.
01:40what we're going to see from GM is you know some changes in terms of how many of.
01:45these electric vehicles they make in the near term because of those credits going away because.
01:50of other forms of support you know falling by the wayside also just less.
01:55pressure from a regulatory perspective where you know fuel economy and emissions regulations have.
02:00have been gutted and so you know they're they're able to you know just kind of kick.
02:05keep ramping up that that truck and SUV production and you know.
02:10Americans are able to buy as many of those as they wish.
