In this video Reed Richards From the fantastic four builds a machine called the bridge in order to solve and fix absolutely everything, but eventually discovers why he cannot do that...
Transcript
00:00Reed Richards is the literal definition of a
00:02A person who thinks all the time has nothing to think about except thought.
00:06We especially get to see this exactly a week after the catastrophic events of Secret Invasion
00:11that Reed basically saw to be his fault because he has the greatest mind and yet he didn't prepare for them.
00:16So in an attempt to prepare and make the world a better place,
00:18he comes up with an idea to create a machine called the Bridge
00:21in order to observe different realities and see how they went about solving those kinds of problems.
00:25And although he explained to his team that he just wants to be inspired
00:28because he fully believes that all problems can be solved, he just needs to know how.
00:32They were kind of split on this with Johnny not understanding the idea,
00:35Sue being completely against it, while Ben was just like, let the man do what he wants.
00:39Reed eventually uses the device and quickly goes over where he thinks it all went wrong,
00:42namely the Superhuman Registration Act that led to the Civil War.
00:46So he asks the machine multiple questions till he learns that out of the roughly 3 million realities
00:50that essentially had a Civil War, only 418 resulted in a peaceful resolution.
00:55He then puts on the helmet and begins viewing the various realities,
00:58one where he was able to talk everybody down from a war,
01:00one where he stripped all heroes from their powers,
01:02and one where a woman, Iron Man, and Cap fell in love allowing Reed to implement the Registration Act on his own.
01:07He then goes on to view the 67 realities where the Illuminati actually succeeded and didn't mess up big time.
01:13He sees one where he convinced Doom and Magneto to come on the team,
01:16and one where he straight up killed all the members on the spot because he didn't think it was a good idea.
01:20But after seeing all of this, he basically comes to the realization that all of the peaceful conclusions
01:25happened in realities where he got to act completely alone with no help from Tony Stark or Hank Pym.
01:30But now that he knows this, he figures that he has to do something,
01:32but he doesn't as he gets ready to shut the device off before he decided to ask one last question.
01:37He wanted to know how many realities had built a bridge like this to which the answer was 144.
01:42But then suddenly people covered with light appear telling him that they know that he wants to fix things
01:46and that they will always be here for him whenever he's ready.
01:49So he powers off the device and tells his family that it went great,
01:52and then promises Sue that he's gonna destroy the machine into pieces which he actually ends up doing,
01:56before he instantly puts it back together, realizing that now knowing all of this,
02:00he has no choice but to solve everything, and therefore adds one more idea to his room full of ideas.
02:04And so a few weeks pass by with nothing on his mind but the bridge until he finally decided to take the step
02:10and turn it on only to get welcomed by versions of himself from alternate realities
02:13who then lead him to a place called the Council of Reeds filled with all types of reeds.
02:18But before he could get any answers, a Galactus alert takes place,
02:21meaning that a Galactus is getting ready to consume a certain universe
02:23which made Reed realize that this council protects everything.
02:26He wanted to know who built this place, which turned out to be three versions of Reed
02:30who own Infinity Gauntlets that are basically just for looks
02:33because they only work in their belonging universe.
02:35And so after joining the leaders and the rest of the Reeds to defeat this Galactus
02:38that had a whole army of Silver Surfers,
02:41Reed goes home with nothing else on his mind than the council.
02:43However, on the second day of being with the council,
02:45Reed would realize how much normal people on Earth has limited his thinking capabilities
02:49as he's introduced to entire universes that are solely being used as farms
02:53to grow food for worlds across the multiverse that can't afford it.
02:56But then after seeing positive things like the farm,
02:59it was time for Reed to see the necessary evil side of the council
03:02as he sees them knocking down a Dr. Doom who was expressing that he will never stop
03:05before they hook him up to a device that essentially lobotomizes him
03:08as they then show him a place called the Hole filled with thousands of lobotomized Dooms.
03:12Simply because Doom is the greatest threat to ever exist due to his unmatched hunger for absolute power
03:17which Reed obviously knows and therefore eventually gets behind the idea of the hole.
03:21So he continues his journey with the council all the way up to the fourth day
03:25where we see him in another universe literally grown into a size bigger than the sun alongside another Reed
03:29who explains and shows Reed how they're gonna perform a surgery on a star
03:33that is about to explode and wipe out an entire solar system.
03:36Following that, main Reed gets asked whether or not he wants to join the council
03:39and solve everything now that he has seen the good and bad of the council.
03:42Reed needed time to think about it as we see him progressively becoming more and more distant
03:46from his family before he finally takes the step realizing how much good he can do with the council.
03:51But as he's officially about to join the whole thing gets invaded by celestials
03:54with the gateway getting breached.
03:56Which only happened due to one of the Reed's going on his own
03:58to free a universe from the oppression of insane celestials
04:01that are basically going around acting like gods.
04:04But he essentially fails to stop them and therefore gets his brain opened
04:07letting the celestials absorb all of his knowledge and intelligence
04:10including the secret way to the council.
04:12The celestials begin killing Reed's left and right including all the leaders
04:15except for one who actually comes up with a way to somewhat stop the celestials.
04:19By basically getting the Reed with the ability to open portals
04:22to open a portal to his universe so that he can stick his hand through him
04:25and get slightly connected to his universe to ultimately turn on the infinity gauntlet.
04:29Which ended up giving main Reed time to go back to his universe
04:32and grab weapons and tools enough to scare the celestials away.
04:35And although the council was temporarily saved
04:37Reed would look behind only to find the Reed
04:39whose brain was initially opened by the celestials defeated
04:41expressing that he had nothing to live for.
04:43He explains that his intelligence is gone because of the celestials
04:46to which Reed tried comforting him by reminding him
04:49that there are other important things like family and friends.
04:52And that's when the other Reed finally reveals to main Reed
04:54that none of the council's Reed's has any friends or family
04:57completely confusing him.
04:58As he then explains that along the way
05:00all Reed's would eventually get so consumed by work
05:02that their friends and family just naturally fall apart.
05:04And so realizing that the price of solving everything
05:07is everything main Reed leaves
05:08expressing that he's not willing to pay that price
05:10even though the other Reed was telling him
05:12that he will come back at one point.
05:13Main Reed then exits the bridge
05:15telling the computer to shut down
05:16as he thinks back to the time his father told him
05:18to become a man capable of making his own decisions
05:21before he then leaves to see his family
05:23the ones he refuses to lose no matter what.
