00:00So we just need to time it right.
00:02AMC's The Walking Dead fan favorite Lenny James is officially moving from the flagship
00:06show to the prequel Fear the Walking Dead, where he will continue to play Morgan Jones.
00:10The announcement was made Sunday when James was a surprise guest on Talking Dead.
00:14James said he begins filming Fear on Monday, with his scenes to be streamed live
00:18via the show's social media accounts. The actor, who was the first person
00:21Andrew Lincoln's Rick encountered after waking up from his coma in the show's pilot,
00:25wrapped production on Walking Dead days ago and appeared on Talking Dead by Satellite
00:30from Austin, Texas, where Fear is moving its production.
00:33According to the actor,
00:34James's addition to Fear comes as the lesser-rated series is amid a major reset
00:54for its upcoming fourth season.
00:55It's easier every time.
00:57Showrunner Dave Erickson, who developed the series with Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman,
01:01left the show after the season three finale. Andrew Shambliss and Ian Goldberg will take
01:06over as showrunners for season four, with Walking Dead boss Scott M. Gimple also joining
01:10the spin-off as an executive producer. Additions to the cast include Garrett Dillahunt
01:14and Jen Elfman coming on as series regulars, although details on their characters
01:18are being kept under wraps.
01:20James's move to Fear comes as the character continues to struggle with his role in
01:23the new world. Morgan guest starred in The Walking Dead seasons one and three before
01:27recurring in season five and being promoted to series regular in season six. When he
01:32was introduced, Morgan was grieving the loss of his wife and son, who were both
01:35killed in the outbreak. He has struggled with his sanity and whether or not he
01:39needed to kill other survivors during the most recent seasons. Fear the Walking
01:42Dead is not a breakout hit like the flagship series, but still performs well for AMC.
01:47The drama is one of the top shows on cable and AMC's number two overall, with an average of
01:515.3 million total viewers.
