00:20France will replace the American platforms, Microsoft Teams and Zoom with its own domestically developed video conferencing platform by 2027.
00:30After months of intense negotiations, the European Union and India have reached a free trade agreement set to sharply reduce tariffs on EU products from cars to wine.
00:41The agreement, dubbed the mother of all deals, comes as both India and European countries look for alternative markets amid tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.
00:52EU Trade Commissioner Mara Sefkovic told Euronews the Commission hopes to begin implementing the agreement from January 2027.
01:00I would say that current trade turmoil on the global scene is really requiring us to move much faster to really speed up the processes.
01:12And I will do my best to talk with both Member States in the Council and European Parliament that this deal really merits special attention and we need to do it as fast as possible.
01:22In the end, there are no regrets.
01:23And I think that we also looked to the future.
01:27So we made this agreement as future proof as possible because we know that India is a very dynamic market.
01:32They have growth between 7% to 8% and we agreed that we will have regular review clauses.
01:38How can we further improve that agreement?
01:41India is currently facing tariffs of 50% from the Trump administration, which has severely dented its exports.
01:47After sealing the Mercosur deal with Latin American countries earlier this month, the EU has said it aims to speed up its trade agenda with new partners.
01:57EU Tech Commissioner has defended Europe's digital rules.
02:06Executive Vice President of the European Commission, Hina Virkunen, spoke to Euronews flagship programme Europe Today at a pivotal moment for EU digital policy.
02:15On Monday, the European Commission launched an investigation into GROC, the AI chatbot developed by Elon Musk's company and integrated into the social media platform X.
02:27The probe focuses on whether X has complied with its, under the Digital Services Act, the DSA.
02:33So it's an obligation under DSA that always the service providers, they have to assess and mitigate the systematic risks which they are posing.
02:42And now we see that GROC is now included more and more to X services.
02:46So it's really look that how the risks are taking care there.
02:50And also we saw also that there was certain illegal content that GROC was pushing.
02:57We know that now the future has been changed, but we are also now analysing about the other risks really related to GROC.
03:06The Commission's move follows widespread concern over GROC's image editing function, which has been used to generate sexualised images of real women and underage girls without their consent.
03:18The GROC investigation is unfolding against a backdrop of rising transatlantic tensions over EU tech rules.
03:25The Trump administration has accused Brussels of over-regulation.
03:30As an answer, Virkunen insisted that these rules are implemented for a digital environment which is fair, transparent, democratic and safe.
03:38France will replace the American platforms Microsoft Teams and Zoom with its own domestically developed videoconferencing platform.
03:53The new French-made videoconference tool, called Visio, will be used in all government departments by 2027.
04:00The move is part of France's strategy to stop using foreign software vendors, especially those from the United States, and regain control over critical digital infrastructure.
04:11It comes at a crucial moment as France, like Europe, reaches a turning point regarding digital sovereignty.
04:19The French government said that switching to Visio could cut licensing costs and save as much as 1 million euros per year for every 100,000 users.
04:28The move also comes as Europe has questioned its over-reliance on U.S. information technology infrastructure.
04:40At least 22 people were injured in overnight Russian strikes targeting the southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa.
04:47Odessa's regional military administration said a barrage of drones struck residential buildings and a construction site in the early hours of Tuesday, causing damage.
04:57Of those injured, 14 suffered only minor wounds and were treated on site, while the others remained hospitalized.
05:05The attacks also reached Kharkiv in the northeast, where authorities say a number of settlements were struck with a combination of missiles and drones.
05:14Several people were injured in the strikes targeting residential buildings, houses, and energy infrastructure.
05:19Further inland, the city of Krivye Rhee, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's hometown, also came under shelling overnight into Tuesday.
05:29A nine-story apartment building was directly hit by Iranian-made Shahid drones, according to officials, damaging balconies and windows.
05:38Authorities say there were no casualties in those attacks, adding that 15 residents were evacuated from the affected area for their safety.
05:45Transport operators from four western Balkan countries have blockaded border crossings in Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia in protest against the EU's tightening of entry rules.
06:03Under EU regulations, citizens of these countries can enter the Schengen area without a visa, but they can only stay there for a maximum of 90 days.
06:11The transporters are demanding that the length of stay be extended, as it's currently not sufficient for them to carry out their work.
06:20They're also demanding the scrapping of the electronic entry system, launched back in October.
06:25The new system is expected to be fully implemented by April and aims to prevent illegal migration and ensure consistent compliance with Schengen rules.
06:47The blockade has brought traffic on the main Balkan roads to a standstill.
06:50The truck drivers have announced that the blockade will continue until their demands are met.
07:10They're expecting a response to their letter of protest sent to the European institutions within the next seven days.
07:16Israel's military says the body of the final hostage left in Gaza, Ron Gveli, has been recovered on Monday, clearing the way for the next phase of the U.S. brokered ceasefire.
07:31The announcement that Gveli was found and identified comes a day after the IDF said it was conducting large-scale operations at a cemetery in northern Gaza.
07:41Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the news, calling it an incredible achievement for his country and its soldiers.
07:48The return of all remaining hostages, living or dead, has been a key part of the first phase of the ceasefire deal reached in October, brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.
08:07Israel and Hamas have been under pressure from truce mediators, including Washington, to move into the second phase, commonly viewed as an even trickier part.
08:16The second phase aims to create an international stabilization force in the besieged territory, form a technocratic Palestinian government, and disarm Hamas.
08:27Many in Gaza say they're not optimistic, accusing Israel of not abiding by its terms under the first phase, which mandated the widespread flow of aid, immediate halt to attacks, and a full Israeli withdrawal from the enclave.
08:40U.S. Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino is expected to leave Minneapolis on Tuesday, as the Trump administration scales back its federal presence there following a second deadly shooting by federal officers.
08:57The killing of Alex Preddy, an ICU nurse by border patrol agents, ignited fierce political backlash over the crackdown on protesters demonstrating against immigration enforcement operations.
09:10Bovino, who is now being replaced by border czar Tom Holman, became the face of the immigration enforcement operation, recognizable for his distinctive long army green overcoat, which has drawn comparisons to those of the Gestapo, the secret police in Nazi Germany.
09:26The guy's an absolute clown, and he's been out here cosplaying like some Nazi SS member, brutalizing our communities and using NATO ban tear gas and stuff on our innocent families.
09:38Like, he can leave. Like, he can leave. And if he already has, I'm sorry that I couldn't say it to his face.
09:46It's a vindication to some degree. We have a lot of fear around what kind of violence and reprisals might come as they leave. I know not every one of them is leaving, but at least they're losing a considerable amount of their forces, which is a relief.
09:58Bovino drew fresh condemnation for claiming that Preddy had been carrying a gun and was planning to massacre law enforcement officers, despite video footage filmed from several angles showing Preddy holding a cell phone in his hand and no sign of him wielding a weapon.
10:14Trump's scaleback came after even prominent Republicans and gun rights advocates criticized the conduct of his immigration approach.
10:21Of course, we're at, unfortunately, a horrific moment in our country with the federal government attacking civilians in our own cities.
10:51And, you know, I'm so lucky to be here in a joyful, creative community celebrating a movie we're really proud of.
11:02But it's impossible to ignore what ICE is doing to our country.
11:09And I'm very inspired, though, by all of the amazing, amazing Americans who are coming out and supporting each other and being there in communities.
11:19Really? It's beautiful.
11:21I love the stanie.
11:22And now, come down.
11:24Straight in front of you.
11:25Right in the middle.
11:26Looking back for me.
11:27Looking back.
11:28I'm looking down for you.
11:29Come on, move straight ahead of you, right.
11:30Please.
11:30I love you.
