00:00Part of that powerful Scott team as Winter all smiles, I love her whole attitude, the way she vibes on skiing.
00:08She started out coaching freeride and that got her into competitive freeride, got into the start gate
00:14and now she is standing on the top of the Puente de Torens at the freeride world tour.
00:20Winter McBride pushing out of the gate for her campaign here in Veltorens.
00:26Exactly, she showed us in Spain that she has every element to have a winning run
00:30and the only thing she needs to do is turn up the volume and turned up she has taking that first air,
00:37full confidence, nice and big, making her way through this peppery section.
00:42Oh yeah, had to clear some rocks there so a little bit of a slowdown.
00:46Judges don't dock fluidity if the slowdown is necessary and Winter with a perfect landing on that section.
00:53So now just getting into the powder, you got to watch a little bit, Hadley, when you're one ski in a track and one ski out.
00:59You could see it starting to drag but Winter handling it, just muscling her way through that.
01:03Muscling her way. The key now is going through this traverse, giving yourself a little bit of air
01:08which just increases your speed into the tuck.
01:12We like to see this. This shows that she is full gas and ready to attack the bottom part of this section.
01:18Yeah, and Winter was the standout rider last year in the Challenger Series in North and South America Region 2
01:27winning two events and finishing first overall, earning her spot onto the Freeride World Tour.
01:33Crossing over now, Winter getting a couple glorious powder turns, even this late in the day.
01:39Yeah, that's got to feel good. Taking a new entrance, similar that we saw Césaire Barron take.
01:45Yeah, a few of the snowboard men opted for this cross-court option and Winter launching right off the nose,
01:52getting the grab, so adding those air and style points.
01:56Winter looking really solid so far. Now we've just got to get through this final section.
02:01Great skiing out of the Utah rider into this core.
02:06Look how solid her turns are.
02:08The rocky section proving a little challenging, but...
02:15She is through and clean, getting another powder turn on that lower apron.
02:19And Winter absolutely ecstatic with that as she is the first of the ski women to come to the bottom with a clean run.
02:27Skis on. No mistakes there, Hadley.
02:30Not at all. I really think this is a rookie to watch for sure in the women's section.
02:35She has a fifth place in Spain. I think she'll do pretty well here, we hope, as well.
02:41And I believe she'll only get better and better as the year goes on.
02:44Well, she's going to figure out visual inspection.
02:46It's something that she had some anxiety about, whether she was going to be, you know, able to handle it.
02:51It's brand new in Region 2, North and South America.
02:54It's on-slope inspection, so the riders get way closer and try to listen in there.
02:59Let's take a look at the replay of Winter's run. Nice, strong start.
03:03Just look at those turns. Fast and fluid, straight off that top air.
03:07You can see the judging criteria, liking the control, liking the technique.
03:11Second air, which gives her plenty of speed to make it across the traverse.
03:16And I love this. Erin Stile grabbing her ski and stomping it at the bottom.
03:21So a big hug there from Lana Kohler. She's got the no score. Winter's score going up a 72.
03:28So the judges leaving a bit of room for themselves as we are very early in this category.
03:33And Ski Women is electric these days with a host of heavy hitters.
