00:06crowd is going to be lit up in support of Anna Martinez from just down the road in Chamonix.
00:12No stranger to the big mountains and the technical riding as she drops in.
00:17You know, there's so many lines in Chamonix that start exactly this way.
00:20Steep, nearly 50 degrees, right in your first turns and Anna is showing that she knows how
00:26to handle it, setting herself up for her first air, taking it with confidence and riding
00:31cleanly.
00:32Yeah, and that little pause, I think, was actually strategic to give herself an opportunity for
00:37some vision as she does it again and off the cliff in the powder cloud.
00:41Anna Martinez just stacking features here as she has made the shortest possible work of
00:47this upper section, a clean run through the upper section for Anna.

00:54You know, this is her third season on the tour and I think with each season that passes,
00:59you see her confidence growing, her strength growing, and to take that just pure fall line
01:03approach is saying such a statement from the young rider.

01:17on the toe side.
01:19Hadley, how tiring it is for these athletes on this long traverse when there's just the pressure

01:26But, you know, this is one of the longer venues we have of the tour.
01:28It's the runs are, you know, two, two and a half minutes and that's a long time to have
01:34that much adrenaline pumping through your body.
01:36But Anna handling it like the champion that she is, entering into this rollover, getting
01:42a nice air and straight into perfect control with that heel side edge.
01:47Yeah, Anna just straight lining down here, kind of using the contour of the slope to get
01:52her direction as she comes into this lower couloir that saw so much action in the snowboard
01:57men.
01:57You can see all the tracks in there, but Anna making some beautiful turns as she enters into
02:02the core, classic Chamonix riding.
02:07Yeah, Hadley, you can see that she's actually making the turn shape work with the terrain.
02:13How much of that comes down to her scoping?
02:16It comes down to her scoping and then it comes down to her experience of how to use the board,
02:20how she's moving down the hill, maintaining both speed but also control.
02:25And that's something that you build all throughout your life, all throughout a rider.
02:30And Anna takes her training serious.
02:31I'm sure she's worked on it very specifically.
02:34Yeah, you can just see the comfort in the steeps.
02:38She's not afraid to have a little bit of air under her board.
02:42And to the edge control and the French crowd absolutely loving it.
02:46A clean run from top to bottom.
02:48And that is the first no-mistake run we've seen so far in the snowboard women's category.

02:56I think they're going to love no mistakes.
02:57And I really think they're going to love her commitment.

03:16This section, it was so steep and she was just able to point it there, Hadley.

03:21And even in that top air when she whited herself out, she knew her line so well that she was skiing,
03:27riding straight through it.
