00:00Welcome to Decentralized News. Today I am covering the controversial game Pixelmoan, which is an NFT metaverse game that kind of is touted as being one of the most highly anticipated play-to-earn metaverse games.
00:19And it's had its controversies and also the most controversial, like I said, you know, so I just thought I'll talk about this because a couple of people had been poking me about it.
00:35So they drew the inspiration from Pokemon, so Pixelmoan started off as quite an ambitious project, promising quite elaborate plans to build out this metaverse.
00:48It was also pitched as an open-world game where users would be able to sort of explore virtual worlds while trading and training their little monsters known as Pixelmoans.
01:02So the game requires you to have Pixelmoans fight against others from other players and beating your opponent in these battles consistently would earn you rewards in Ethereum or Pixelmoan NFT.
01:20So, yeah, this is, you know, they had quite an interesting light paper, so they wanted to just have a fun, open, immersive world and sort of bridge the walls between NFT and gaming.
01:36So to encourage mass adoption, the game would be free to everyone, even though, you know, they are optional play-to-earn or play-to-play, pay-to-play mechanics, while also the play-to-earn element in the game promised to benefit the NFT holders,
01:51giving them much access to larger reward pools, metaverse land and token airdrops and other items.
01:59So the game also promised to have something for each type of enthusiast within the ecosystem, not limited to just PvP or PvE or solo or multiplayer game lovers only.
02:10So they also wanted to give users immediate multiplayer access on PC at launch, while also gradually expanding to other platforms, including a Mac, Xbox, PlayStation and so much more.
02:23So quite an ambitious project.
02:25Pixelmoan NFT Generation 1 had 69 Genesis types that users could hatch with more than 150 unique Pixelmoan evolutions.
02:36The game promised that Pixelmoan genesis species holders would enjoy many perks, such as gaining exclusive access to airdrops off Pixelmoan land.
02:48So the land airdrops themselves are the metaverse plans on offering virtual land plots in a variety of sizes and configurations, depending on your preferences.
02:58You could acquire pieces of land for tents, shacks or small rooms, much larger plots to build mansions and castles, etc.
03:07The idea is to provide players with an array of options.
03:10You could acquire a small piece of land in the wilderness camp there or, you know, then face the forces of nature or maybe you want a nice townhouse or something like that.
03:20So they also have this Pixelmoan token staking and one of the advantages of the Gen 1 Pixelmoan NFT is that you get exclusive access to the token airdrops scheduled to launch Q2 of 2022.
03:35They said you could also stake the Pixelmoan token to receive the game's native utility token on a daily basis.
03:43And the daily reward from staking depends on the rarity of your Pixelmoan, which would range from common to eternal.
03:52So early access and other benefits are also part of the land airdrops.
03:56Owning a genesis species Pixelmoan NFT would also entitle you to various in-game rewards, such as the ability to customize your trainer or decorate your home.
04:07Besides, you'd also be granted early access to the game's alpha launch.
04:12So now, yeah, that's pretty much what the whole project is trying to achieve.
04:19But of course, you know, the controversy, the NFT collection began minting on the 7th of Feb this year via a Dutch auction.
04:30And by that time, the project had actually amassed hundreds of thousands of followers on social media, including 200K on Twitter alone.
04:38So there was quite a big buzz around it.
04:40And in fact, the entire collection sold within hours.
04:43And the grand success of the launch added a staggering $70 million to the project's treasury, making it one of the largest NFT projects out there.
04:52And the early buyers paid as much as three Ethereum, about $8,000 at a time for Pixelmoan NFT, although the price gradually dropped as the sale started to progress.
05:05Even though the buyers knew that the launch of the game was still a bit far away down the road, they were all in on this.
05:13So then, you know, there was some anger around, you know, people finding out that the Pixelmoan NFT artwork looked way off from the in-game renders that the development team had been posting on the social media platform.
05:27And not only were they sort of poorly designed, they were also, you know, just a project that became a bit of a laughingstock.
05:36So the buyers became quite angry and, yeah, you know, calling developers scammers.
05:44And the value dropped to about 0.3 ETH, which was about 10% of the original mint price.
05:50And then there's Kevin, who also then became a viral mint, you know, yeah, you know, that's just another legendary crypto happening.
06:04But, yeah, you know, people were spending a lot of money, man, in terms of trying to hold this Pixelmoan NFT.
06:13So, yeah, let me know what you guys think.
06:15Do you think this is a project that is there to last?
06:19Do they have anything or was it just another one of those scams?
06:24Let me know.
06:25There's quite a lot of information.
06:27You can go check out the project for yourself.
06:30I'm not invested in any of this.
06:32I just heard a few people kind of going back and forth about it.
06:35I just decided to see what else I can learn about Pixelmoan NFT.
