00:00More than a hundred members of the community have gathered here at a park in Mount Maunganui
00:07to pay their respects and remember those six people who were killed in the landslide at the
00:13base of the mountain. Now that happened on Thursday morning, that landslide coming crashing down over
00:21the campsite at the base of the mountain. Now there was a harried rescue effort, an urgent
00:27rescue effort for a couple of days but sadly over the weekend authorities did make the announcement
00:33that they were moving from rescue to recovery after the discovery of human remains. Police have
00:40announced the names and details of those six people, they include two teenagers who went to the
00:46same Auckland college, the mother of one of them remembering her son as a beautiful kind boy. So
00:55there's a lot of sadness here in Mount Maunganui, I think it's really hit people over the weekend
00:59and unfortunately since the announcement that they were moving to recovery that effort has had to be
01:05suspended several times due to bad weather. Now of course that's a really difficult decision to make
01:12but authorities here prioritising the safety of the more than 30 workers who've been on the side at any
01:19one time just to avoid any further loss of life. It's clear that there's a lot of healing to do here
01:26in Mount Maunganui but people here really just wanting to emphasise to the families of those people
01:31who died that they will always be part of the family and the community here.
