00:58Famed horror movie actor Boris Karloff narrates the Grinch is a monstrous creature who attempts to sabotage
01:07the Christmas celebrations of the small town of Whoville.
01:12And he lives up in a huge mountain abode that overlooks the village.
01:17Jim Carrey later played the Grinch in director Ron Howard's Dr. Seuss,
01:23How the Grinch Stole Christmas in the year 2000.
01:26The culmination live action CG film.
01:30Others in this cast, Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Bill Irwin, Molly Shannon, Anthony Hopkins.
01:37Alright, so watching the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
01:41There may be some clues to Carrey's other roles in this.
01:46One item that you'll see again and again in the Grinch is a drum or a set of drums.
01:52This is the musical instrument.
01:54And I thought this may be a reference to Carrey's portrayal of comedian Andy Kaufman
02:00in a 1999 Mila Sformin biographical film Man on the Moon.
02:05And also in this cast, Danny DeVito, musician Courtney Love, Paul Giamatti, Vincent Schiavelli, Tracy Walter.
02:14Andy Kaufman was known for incorporating bongo drums into his stage routine.
02:21Andy played these in an appearance on NBC late night talk show,
02:26The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1977.
02:29So yeah, near the opening of the Grinch at 3 minutes 55 seconds,
02:35you'll see many musical instruments.
02:38Some of these include drums.
02:41There's another drum at 4 minutes 25 seconds and at 4 minutes 38 seconds.
02:47And then when the Grinch sneaks in to the town on Christmas Eve,
02:51some drums are shown as Christmas tree ornaments at 13 minutes 10 seconds.
02:58I mentioned actor Danny DeVito also just watched the 1977 animated TV special Halloween is Grinch Night,
03:08officially the prequel to How the Grinch Sold Christmas.
03:11Hans Connery replaces Boris Karloff as the voice of the Grinch and the narrator.
03:17Also in the cast, Gary Shapiro and Henry Gibson.
03:21All right, so watching Halloween is Grinch Night,
03:24I thought there may be a scene very analogous to that shown in Walt Disney's 1941 animated musical Dumbo.
03:34And DeVito, of course, starred in the 2019 Tim Burton adaptation of Dumbo,
03:42along with Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Eva Green, and Alan Orkin.
03:46The specific segment of Dumbo accompanies the song Pink Elephant's Own Parade.
03:52It's extremely psychedelic in nature.
03:55The corollary scene in Halloween is Grinch Night starts at around 18 minutes 26 seconds
04:01when the Grinch gives Eukariah the spook's tour.
04:05A very surreal and dreamlike.

04:35and show past, present, and future information about actors and other personalities
04:41that may resemble the personalities in the movie or television episode that you're watching.
