On this Special Report, India Today’s Shivani Sharma provides details on the arrival of European Council President Antonio Costa in New Delhi. The visit is highly significant as the European Union and India aim to finalize a comprehensive free trade agreement, described by leadership as the 'mother of all deals'. Shivani Sharma notes, 'This is a visit in which we will see the leadership of EU not only meeting the External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, but also Prime Minister Narendra Modi after they will be witnessing the Republic Day Parade tomorrow.' The itinerary includes a Guard of Honour at the Palam airport station and high-level meetings at Hyderabad House on 27th January. Beyond the economic pact, the discussions are expected to cover critical defence and security cooperation. The visit comes amidst a shifting geopolitical landscape and global tariff tensions, positioning the India-EU partnership as a vital strategic alliance for both regions.
